Temuco, Chile - 19th November 2011

By: Leslie

Hello everybody, I'm Meav!  :D

A few days ago Leslie found me on a little store where I was piled up with a lot of other toys and brought me to live with her! :)

When we got home, I started exploring the house and hopping up and down the shelves when I found a photo of a little giraffe in front of a wonderful church, which I could tell was not here!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1238.jpg

Next to that one, there was another one of the same giraffe with a fish, very nice!  :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1241.jpg

A little further I found a green frog looking out a plane window!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1245.jpg

Leslie explained everything about toyvoyagers to me and showed me a photo album of Kirin's trips around the world!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1248.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1249.jpg

I asked her if I could become a toyvoyager too because I have always dreamed of traveling, and guess what... she said yes!!  :D

We came to this site and the first thing I saw was the same frog from the plane photo, my brother Ranil!
He seems to be quite famous!  :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1250.jpg

I wish I could be the toyvoyager of the week one day too!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1251.jpg

I'm planning on staying at home for a little while before starting my trips abroad, I really like the warmth of a home!

See you!
Meav

The Andes mountain range, Chile - 10th December 2011

By: Leslie

Hi everybody!

Leslie, the other toyvoyavers and I made a trip to the Andes mountain range!

There were lots of rivers going down from the cold mountains to the sea!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1306.jpg

This beautiful waterfall is called "Falls of the Princess" That's an interesting name, Leslie said it's because of a love legend :)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1326.jpg

There were thousands of lupines by the road! Some were pink, purple, yellow and some even blue!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1376.jpg

As we were going up the view was getting better and better!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1402.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1409.jpg

Here we started going up the Andes mountain range! Even though it's spring, up here it still seemed like winter!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1413.jpg

We kept going up and up until we found snow!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1426.jpg

Me and my friend Pato went running to play! :D But only for a short time... Leslie didn't want us to get a cold

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1422.jpg

We built an ingloo! Isn't it nice?

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1463.jpg

There were many big and old Araucarias around us...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1453.jpg

...So I found myself a warmer home than the igloo in the trunk of one of them ;)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1459.jpg

And Here I'm posing in what looks like a baby Araucaria, but must be older than 50! :stare: They take about a thousand years to grow!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1461.jpg

It was a very nice trip!
Soon I'll be traveling overseas... I can't wait!

Queule, Chile - 19th December 2011

By: Leslie

Hi all! :)

Last weekend I went to Queule! A small fishing village near some lovely beaches where Leslie has her summerhouse. The view from the deck was beautiful!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3009.jpg

In the garden there were lots of flowers!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3013.jpg

This is called "chilco" and it's the hummingbirds' favourite meal! :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3014.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3015.jpg

Later we started walking to the beach. By the road there was this viewpoint from where you can see the river mouth of river Queule :)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3127.jpg

And a big island with a 9km long beach called "horseshoe beach"!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3128.jpg

Also we could almost see the whole fishing village! :)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3135.jpg

We walked for about half an hour and got to Ronca beach! The word "ronca" is spanish for "snore" and the beach is called like that because of its loud and noisy waves!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3022.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3018.jpg

My friend Pato and I really enjoyed the sea breeze and the sound of the waves!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3029.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3045.jpg

I found some cool dunes which looked like ruins of an old civilization! :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3059.jpg

Later, walking back to the house we saw this big rock called Lion rock, can you guess why? ;)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3090.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_3091.jpg

I loved Queule! I hope I can come back some day! :D

Love,
Meav

Temuco, Chile - 20th December 2011

By: Leslie

Hi everyone!

Today I visited the main craft market of Temuco, there were mostly Mapuche handicrafts (mapuches are the aborigin race from Chile)... I specially liked this "trapelakucha", it's a jewel piece made of silver, worn only by mapuche women who are very important in their community. It is very heavy! :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1224.jpg

Later I went to a shopping mall and saw a giant christmas tree! They were playing christmas carols, there was a lovely christmas atmosphere!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1268.jpg

Back at home my friend Pato and I sat to watch our christmas tree and listen to christmas carols, I really like this season!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_2884.jpg

Happy holidays everybody!

La Serena, Chile - 11th January 2012

By: Leslie

Hello world!

After 15 hours of drive we got to a city in the north called La Serena
The climate here is semi desertic, thing you can see also in the vegetation...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1762.jpg

The first day in La Serena we went to the beach to see its most famous icon, this lighthouse :)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1802.jpg

And the rest of the day we spent relaxing in the beach

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_1815.jpg

It's very nice here, I want to explore more!

Coquimbo, Chile - 24th January 2012

By: Leslie

Hi!

We did more touristing today and went to the city next to La Serena called Coquimbo! :)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Petunia/IMG_2160.jpg

And then we went up to the Third Millenium Cross :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Petunia/IMG_2199.jpg

There was a beautiful view from up there!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Petunia/IMG_2215.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Petunia/IMG_2216.jpg

As you can see the surroundings are quite desertic!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Petunia/IMG_2232.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Petunia/IMG_2254.jpg

Below the Cross there was a religious museus and I saw Michelangelo's La Pietà! :D :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Petunia/IMG_2271.jpg

Later we went to a small fortress near the port area :) And the first thing I saw was this cactus with a nice yellow flower!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Petunia/IMG_2297.jpg

It was quite nice! I can imagine that big cannon being used against the pirates! :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Petunia/IMG_2339.jpg

That white rock behind me was full of pelicans, cormorants and other noisy birds :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Petunia/IMG_2318.jpg

Then we went back to La Serena, very very tired and with some slight sun burns :stare: :stare:

Bye!
:) :stare: :stare:
