Christkindlmarkt Salzburg, Salzburg - 1st December 2011
By: Guest
Hi there!
The last weeks had been really hard here in Austria. Although it was not raining or snowing the weather was really bad... we had so much fog, you won't believe! And because of this weather our sightseeing was limited. But within the last days it got sunny.
Although there is still no snow here, we already visited the inner city of Salzburg, took a walk through the very famous "Getreidegasse", passing by "Mozarts Geburtshaus" and had some hot wine punch (called Glühwein here in Austria) and a baked potato.... yummy!!!!
So that's all for today... but as the weather is fine at the moment we can do more sightseeing!
Greetings from Austria.

Vienna, Austria - 30th January 2012
By: Cessy
Hello,
last saturday evening i had a nice party day with fluffy toys of my hosters. We played a funny and excitingly parlour game named scotland yard.
It is a board game in which a team of players, as police, cooperate to track down a player controlling a criminal around a board representing the streets of London. I was the criminal, mr. x and had to hide in the streets.
Amy, the dog of my hosters helped me a little bit ;-)
It was very funny and I even won the game. Here you can see me at the awards ceremony
Yesterday i could relax and watched tv, the australian open tennis tournament final round between Novak Djokovic und Rafael Nadal. It was a very thrilling play
On the afternoon we planned to make a little walk to the Donauinsel. I had a look in the computer to be informed.
There i could read following:
The Donauinsel is a multifunctional project at the Danube with the ostensible purpose of regulating the Danube in the urban area of Vienna. it is a freestanding island between the main stream and the discharge canal. there are situated naturist beaches as well as a multifaceted bar scene.
Well, here we are. We visited one of the fishing boats (similar to little housboats)
In the background you can see the Floridsdorfer Brücke, one of the Viennese bridges across the Danube connecting the 21st district (Floridsdorf) with the 20th district (Brigittenau) and the Handelskai (it is a very long street in Vienna, in fact one of the longest in the city. It stretches over some 8,5 km along the Danube)
Danube, millenium tower, the school ship, nordbahnbrücke (railway bridge)
The milleniumtower is the uppermost high rise office bulding of vienna at the moment, hight 202 m, built in the year 1999
The Schulschiff Vienna. it is a ship anchoring on the Danube in which is located a secondary high school
here i am watching ducks swimming on the danube
I had much fun with my hosters dog, the little terrier Amy. She is really a jumping dog which loves timber sticks ;-)
Graffiti
Donauinsel, a flying kite and view to the Donauturm
We went by car to our next target
The Donaupark with the Donauturm
The donauturm is the highest building of austria, hight 252 m, it is a lookout tower and one oft he landmarks of vienna, with two revolving restaurants at a height of 160 and 170 metres
the donauturm is surrounded by the donaupark. The donaupark was created in 1963 and 1964 on an island between the Danube and the Old Danube under the auspices of the 1964 Vienna International Garden Festival
Following weekend, maybe, we will visit the centre of vienna and its famous buildings. I am already excited. Send you many greetings.
