Unfortunately, in Uetze is no TV-weather at the moment. But on friday we will travel to Göttingen, where my host studies. Hopefully there will be a better weather.

Our getaway to Göttingen started in Uetze of course. We went by bus to Dollbergen, our first intermediate goal.

In Dollbergen, which is a little village and belongs to the township Uetze, we had not enough time to take pictures. But now I have a new entry on my map. :)

Hannover - Göttingen, Germany - 16th March 2012

Here is a picture of the landscape between Hannover and Göttingen.

The river in the back is called Leine. The Leine is a river in Thuringia and Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a left tributary of the Aller river (and so of the Weser river as well) and 281 km in length. Important towns upstream to down along its course are Göttingen, Einbeck, Alfeld and Gronau, before the river enters Hanover, the largest city on its banks. We passed all the towns, except Gronau. :)

Finally, we arrived in Göttingen.
Göttingen (German pronunciation: [ˈɡœtɪŋən]) is a university town in Lower Saxony. It is the capital of the district of Göttingen. The Leine river runs through the town. In 2006 the population was 129,686.

First of all we visited the old botanic garden. Göttingen has two botanic gardens, the old and the new one. But the old one is much more beautiful... however I think the flowers require more time. Everthing is still brown and grey.

There was a stone which tell something about Weende. It was founded in 966 and was an independantly community until 1964. At this time it became a district of Göttingen. As a consequence, it is the second oldest district (and it is the most beautiful side in town :) )

There is also a river called Weende. The spring of the river also provides the people in Göttingen with drinking water.
