Kiev, Ukraine - 11th April 2011

By: ganka9

Hi, everyone! This is Ulrich ))
I'm so happy!!! I started travelling only a month ago, but two of my life missions are already complete. I'm unbelievably lucky, aren't I?
Today I'll tell about the first one.
Before departing to my first host in Germany my mum and I decided to take a short trip inside Ukraine. Actually it was Kiev, the capital.  The reason why we went there was the concert of my favourite band from London, The Tiger Lillies. All my life I dreamt to visit their performance. I even didn't include this into my life missions - I simply thought it's too fantastic to become true. But it happened and I became the happiest reptile in the world. I was singing and dancing all the concert, but moreover - after that I has taken some photos and even talked to the lead singer, whose name is Martin. I told him that I was going to Germany the next day, to pick mushrooms. Martin was really surpised, he gave me a warm hug and wished a good luck. It moved me deeply.
But this is not the end of the story yet. The next day after the concert we had a nice walk around Kiev. Beautiful city I should say. And right before coming to the post office mummy and I dropped in the most famous gallery of contemporary art in Ukraine. So unexpectedly! Thus my first life mission was complete. The exhibitions were brilliant, especially one by Candice Breitz. We took some photos inside (though it was forbidden  ) and went to the post office. It was definitely a happy day. I was pleased but tired, so I was glad to get into the envelope to have a good rest on the way to Germany. I got asleep right away and woke up only when my kind host opened the envelope and let me out.
Soon I will tell you more about it...

Bad Salzdetfurth, Germany - 7th May 2011

By: HoBi

Hello Mum!

Great news!  I arrived in Germany and met my host Murph. I thought that I would never reach my goal!

This morning the big moment came and Murph helped me to come out of the envelope. I were not able to move – so we drove into the forest  - and I had some fresh air.

First I laid down in the sun and warmed up!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8499.jpg

This was great – and I was able to stretch my body.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8502.jpg

Murph called – he wanted to show me some beautiful flowers.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8507.jpg

These were the blossoms if bear’s garlic. Really wonderful, aren’t they?

We searched a cosy place in the basket with a good view – so we can find mushrooms.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8510.jpg

Let’s start –there were the first mushrooms.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8472.jpg

Murph told me that they are called Dryads saddle. You can eat these mushrooms, when they are young.

There were wonderful orchids in the forest.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8452.jpg

When I would have been earliere – Murph wanted to collect these mushrooms with me But my trip was too long. Now they were old and dry.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8481.jpg

I wanted to have a closer look at the next orchid.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8463.jpg

They were so wonderful!

Then we found other delicious mushrooms.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8491.jpg

They are called St. Georg’s mushrooms. We cut them and put them into our basked. It will be a yummy dinner for Murph and me.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8494.jpg

It was a really great day after the long journey.

Love

Ulrich

Hi Mum

It is so great to be a ToyVoyager. Murph told me that we will visit his best friend Dicker Kumpel this weekend.  He showed me his travellog.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/M_0002.jpg

We wanted to bring presents with us – and searched for some sweets in the flat here. Well – this looked great.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/M_0003.jpg

We wanted to have a closer look.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/M_0004.jpg

We took these bars.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/M_0005.jpg

I really loved this basket.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/M_0006.jpg

We searched more.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/M_0009.jpg

Now I like the basket even more!

He introduced us to the other TVs here.

I had this delicious cake. It was yummy

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/M_0017.jpg

Later we gave our presents to Dicker Kumpel and his guests.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0920.jpg

They loved all the things!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0922.jpg

A big surprise! Dicker Kumpel had something for us, too.

Harz, Germany - 21st May 2011

By: HoBi

Hallo Mum,

today I made a trip to the Harz with Murph. The Harz is a region with a lot of mountains.

This is the Innerste River.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8518.jpg

In this barrage the water of the Innerste River was collected.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8520.jpg

On the board of the river we had a little rest. I searched a wonderful sunny place – Murph preferred to stay in the shadow – but he is not a snake!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8524.jpg

Then we drove to the National Park Harz.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8549.jpg

We found this beautiful pond. He is called Entensumpf (swamp of ducks).

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8536.jpg

Isn't the Oberharz beautiful? We didn't want to leave it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8539.jpg

From a place called Torfhaus we saw the highest mountain of the Harz. It is the Brocken.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8555.jpg

The Okertalsperre is the biggest dam in the Harz. There were big ships on it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8565.jpg

On our way back home we found this lovely waterfall. He is called the Romkerhaller Wasserfall.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8570.jpg

I really loved this trip!

Many greetings
Ulrich

Bad Salzdetfurth, Germany - 28th May 2011

By: HoBi

Hello Mum,

We were really busy today. We bought many colorful flowers for the balcony of HoBi.

Murph told me that they only think that it is their balcony, but it is the balcony of Murph. He spents his time here, when both are working. And of course I stay there with him.

Here were the flowers:

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8640.jpg

We were allowed to choose, which flowers will be in which flower box. This was really difficult – so many beautiful flowers. We had to think about it for a long time.

We decided that these flowers will come into the big flower box:

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8641.jpg

For the small one we chose these flowers:

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8648.jpg

First we had to put the potting soil into the boxes.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8654.jpg

Done!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8658.jpg

I love this flower most!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8659.jpg

Although all flowers are really beautiful!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8664.jpg

Here you can see our flowers on the balcony.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8669.jpg

We really did a good job, didn't we?

Many greetings

Ulrich

Bad Salzdetfurth, Germany - 4th June 2011

By: HoBi

Hello Mum,

today Murph showed me his hometown Bad Salzdetfurth. It is an old mining town.

Here you can see a closed head gear.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8673.jpg

There is a really beautiful museum in the town.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8604.jpg

There were many old machined from the mining time in front of the museum.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8612.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8614.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8618.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8621.jpg

They are really funny, aren't they?

This is a really big pit wheel – like it was on the  head gears in the past.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8608.jpg

There were two salines in spa garden. The people needed the salines to produce salt in the past.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8629.jpg

Today there are normally many people sitting in front of the salines, because
the air there is so healthy.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8626.jpg

We loved this wonderful flower – and I wanted to show it to you!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8632.jpg

Murph's hometown is really beautiful!

Many greetings
Ulrich

Hello Mum,

I went into the forest with Murph again.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8688.jpg

Maybe we will find more mushrooms.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8683.jpg

I think that I found something – there at the tree!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8686.jpg

I had to go there – they were so beautiful!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8676.jpg

Murph – you must come – there are mushrooms!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8679.jpg

Murph told me that these were phoenix mushrooms. They are really yummy.

Before we continued our walk, we made a rest next to this little river.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8690.jpg

When we looked from this tower – we surely would find more mushrooms!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8698.jpg

I found this wonderful flower.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8708.jpg

It is the white helleborine.

And I found two other eatable mushrooms – the dotted stem bolete .

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8726.jpg

and the  charcoal burner.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8729.jpg

At the end of our walk we relaxed on this really beautiful bench.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/Murph/IMG_8702.jpg
