Mayberry (Mt. Airy), NC, USA - 9th October 2010

By: atotalnobody

Hello Friends and fellow TV's! Today is my very first day as a TV. My mom loved her first TV, Miguel, so much that she decided she needed another one! I am so glad to be a part of this loving family :D

My mom and dad were taking a trip to Mayberry aka Mt. Airy, NC (The Birthplace of the Andy Griffith TV Show) where my dad grew up. My dad's mom and brothers still live there so we met up with them to go to an annual festival.Autumn Leaves Festival- a 3 day event usually when the weather begins to get cooler and the leaves start to turn beautiful colors. My mom thought it'd be a great place to take some pictures and start my travels. Dad on the other hand thought mom was a little crazy, but he did help in taking the pictures :)

First we stopped at Coco Bongo's to get some refreshments. Surprisingly it was a little hotter than it usually has been when we have gone to this festival. We got to the festival about mid-day and it was pretty hot. Mom and I shared a huge beer shaped bottle/cup of Bahama Mama (A tropical punch slushie). It was delicious!! Good thing mom was holding it for me and taking some sips too otherwise I wouldn't have been able to drink it all myself.

The police and town officials of Mt. Airy closed Main St. downtown where the festival took place so visitors could walk up and down the strip freely to see all the craft vendors and eat some delicious food. Our 2nd stop was at a fudge stand. Dad of course had to get his chocolate fix! Dad LOVES chocolate so he picked up 1/2lb of it. Mom and I took some pictures. It does look tasty doesn't it? A little too rich for my blood.  :p We also got to see a bear like me mixing some fudge! How cool is that?

We kept on walking and looking at all the wonderful things Mayberry has to offer. It's a quaint little town full of history. I even got my picture with Barney Fife (A police officer) from the Andy Griffith Show!! I thought he was going to arrest me, but he was just there to take pictures and sign autographs.

Grandma was getting hot and tired so she had to sit down for a bit. Mom, dad and went in some shops to let her rest for a bit. Then our last stop was to get some candy apples. Grandma LOVES them! They had lots to choose from. Some with just caramel (as you can see them making in the picture), some with M&M's, some with nuts and many other delicious ones. Unfortunately, mom makes me watch my girlish figure and doesn't let me eat a lot of sweets.  :(

It was getting hot hot hot and grandma's legs were bothering her so we decided to head home. We said our goodbye's to grandma and dad's brothers and made the long car ride back to Winston.

What a fun day! Mom has to work tonight so I better get off here and take a nap so I can go with her. She said I can visit her job!! YAY!  I can't wait.

With Love,

Teal'c

Clemmons, NC, USA - 10th October 2010

By: atotalnobody

Hello Friends!

Tonight, my mom decided to show me why she is away from me all night long. My mom works as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) at an assisted living facility for older folks. She works the 'grave yard shift' or 3rd shift. My mom took me around and showed me some of the important things she does. Unfortunately, the residents she cares for were all asleep so I didn't get to see/meet them.

First of course my mom showed me how to clock in on the time clock. It was a little tricky- you have to enter in an ID# and then put your finger in a slot to be scanned. My bear paws didn't fit in the scanner :(

Then my mom showed me where they posted announcements and the schedules for the week. My mom definitely works a lot of nights. I don't know how she is able to stay up all night, but I guess I will find out as the night goes on. I hope I can stay awake!!

Mostly during the night my mom just checks on the residents while they are asleep and answers any lights that appear on the board. Mom explained to me that when a light beeps it means that a person needs assistance. Usually when the lights go off the resident needs to use the bathroom and can't get up themselves or they need a diaper change. (I thought only babies wore diapers and needed to be changed- mom explained to me that it's not true. As we get older, we divert to our childlike states and need assistance just as we did when we were children.)

During the night aside from checking the residents (oh, I forgot to mention, 'residents' is what my mom said we are supposed to call the 'old folks' who live there- it's more proper she said.) we have a series of tasks that need to be completed before the morning shift comes in. Each night we have loads of resident laundry to wash, dry, fold and hang. We spent most of the time in the laundry room working on that. It definitely passed the time away. I helped as much as I could. Mostly I just played around in the baskets.

As the night came to a close, around 5 am, we started the busy crazy work. At least that's how it seemed to me. My mom ran around the building like a crazy woman. Lights kept going off. My mom explained to me that during the hours of 4-7 am we spend that time getting people up for breakfast. Not everyone, just a select few that her shift is assigned to get up.

I tried to help mom get the residents up but at 4 am I was a bit sleepy. I still don't understand how she was able to do it. I guess next time I come to work with mom I will need a cup of coffee or 2. I guess since mom has been working at nights for a while she is used to it.

Finally the night was over after the first shift girls got there to take over. Good thing! I was SLEEPY. Mom and I were both ready for bed. It'll be weird to sleep in the daytime.

Goodnight for now,

Teal'c

Around Town, Winston-Salem, NC, USA - 15th October 2010

By: atotalnobody

It's me, Teal'c, just checkin in...

My mom has been working so much the last few days she hasn't had time to take me on any wonderful adventures. Mostly she has been sleeping, so I have been napping with her and Teddy (Our dog).

Since my mom gets a few days of relaxation she figured that instead of napping today (that way she can get a good nights rest tonight) she would take me out on the town while she did some errands.

I didn't know what errands was exactly, but I was hoping it was going to be fun! Mom said 'errands' are chores/things people have to get done... such as grocery shopping, going to the bank, going to the dry cleaners, and many other related tasks that involve doing something related to life. All I could think of as she explained this was...'UGH! Chores! I thought I was going on an adventure today...'

To my surprise it wasn't as bad as it sounded. Most days with mom are pretty fun, even if its just 'errands'! Mom said it was chilly outside so I had to put my socks on and a new hat mom got me. I like it alot! I think I look cool!

Our first stop was at mom's school. It was so BIG!! We walked what seemed like forever from the parking lot. Mom didn't know it but today they were having Fall Festival. Mom explained to me that its pretty much a party to celebrate the fall/winter semester of school. Clubs and organizations come out to try and get members- usually new students or those interested- and they have games, music, food, and prizes. Sometimes they even have T-shirts! I didn't get any pictures at the festival, as I felt out of place and rather shy.  I did get some good pictures around the campus of my mom's school. She had to pay for a class she was going to be starting next week. I could only imagine if I went to school I would probably get lost.

I took my first elevator ride, and climbed some really high stairs, and even got to look out a 2nd story window from the main office building- Allman building. (That's where mom had to pay for her class). Mom even let me stop to climb a pretty tree while walking back to the car.

After we left school, we went to the post office to check the postage on some postcards for postcrossing. Mom, luckily had enough stamps to cover the extra postage! I was sitting looking at the boxes that they used to ship packages and wondering which size would fit me best and so mom took a cute picture of me amongst them. OOOPS! Apparently, we are not allowed to take pictures! Mom got in alot of trouble but she made an excuse (which wasn't completely untrue) and wiggled her way out of that one! PHEW!! I guess we know for next time.

Finally, back home.We made a quick stop at the mailbox- then on to the house. I was hungry so mom gave me a snack- my FAVORITE!!, honey nut cheerios!!!- and then some candies. Mom doesn't let me eat alot of candy; she says its bad for my bear teeth. I read mom's school paper for a bit while I ate my snack; it was so interesting to read some of the things that colleges do!

Take a look at the pictures we took today. It was fun doing 'errands'. I might like to do more of them with mom again soon.

Going to take a nap with mom and Teddy...

Bye

Phew! It's been a long day! Hello Friends...

Mom has had me busy today!... busy cleaning the house!!! Since today was one of the few days mom has off work- mom decided we MUST clean the house up. It was a little messy (mostly because of dad) but it needed some cleaning.

This was our list of things to do:

1. Wash laundry
2. Dishes
3. Change the bed sheets
4. Empty the trash
5. Fold/ Hang laundry
6. Cook Dinner

Of course we didn't do them in this order! Daddy also did many of these things as well because mom TOLD him to. I did help mom with washing the laundry, but I mostly played around in the dryer and the piles of clothes. It was fun!! The clean clothes smelled good  :)

I also helped mom with the dishes. I told her that I think that we need to have Daddy do the dishes more so they don't get as dirty. She said that's a good idea, but he won't wash them- that's what we have a dishwasher for.

I liked playing around in the dishwasher. I think it would be a good hiding place. *chuckles* I tried to hide from mom all day but she kept finding me! She didn't find me at first when in hid in the... FRIDGE!!!  B)

Of course after a while, after getting really cold, mom found me! She is good at finding my hiding places! I don't think I will be able to play hide and seek with her.  :(

After getting most of our list done, mom said she was going to make dinner. Surprisingly dad helped! He made the beans, but mom (Ms. Betty Crocker) cooked the steak! YUM, steak!

I got my bib on (since I always make a mess) and my teddy plate and mom served me some food. Steak, pinto beans, and green beans with little almonds. It was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!!! :cyclops:

Mom said after I eat my dinner since I was such a good helper today, I get a special treat. Guess what it was?.....

...ICE-CREAM!!!!!! YAY!!!!
Thanks mom  :D

Now my belly is full of good food and sweet ice-cream... I am getting sleepy. It's about time for bed mom says.

Well, I better get off here so I can get ready for bed.

Goodnight TV friends!

Hello Friends!

It's me again, Tealc!

I was lucky today to get 2 surprises!!  :cyclops:

My mom went out to do some errands this morning before I woke up and guess what?! She came back with 2 wonderful surprises for me.

The first surprise was... :o

My mom bought me some new clothes!  B) She got me a couple of t-shirts, some PJ's and some winnie the pooh booties! I can't wait to wear my new PJ's and the booties already look good on me. Mom also said that she already found a few items for my Christmas presents.
I asked her why she didn't wake me up and take her with me to do errands and she said she wanted to surprise me with something nice. I guess it was better I didn't go otherwise I wouldn't have been surprised.

The second surprise was... :o

Another TV has come to visit us, all the way from the West coast! My mom brought in the package and said she knew who was visiting but wanted me to open the package with the TV inside...

Who could it be? I hadn't met any other TV's so far so this was very exciting for me!!

Guess who came out of the package?!?! :D

LeoPold!!!! from Oregon!!

YAY!

We talked for a bit and then LeoPold got to meet my dog, Teddy. I think Teddy wanted to eat him. Mom yelled at Teddy though and made sure that he knew LeoPold was not his toy.

Today was such a day full of surprises! I can't wait to have more TV's visit.  :D

Take a look at me and my new friend LeoPold!

Leo and I are going to help mom cook dinner...

Bye for now

Mom's Work, Again, USA - 20th October 2010

By: atotalnobody

Hello Friends!

LeoPold is visiting us from Oregon for a few weeks so mom said we need to be good hosts and show him a good time. Mom said that we should take LeoPold to her work again. I told mom that it would be a good idea since I have already been. I could give him a grand tour.

Mom said that it would be a good chance for Leo and I to get to know each other better and become good friends. She said we could play around as long as we were quite. Since I knew my way around, I showed Leo the important things about my mom's job.

I showed him how to clock-in on the time clock and how we did the laundry. I also showed him what the call lights were for and when to answer them. As the night went on we played hide && seek.

It was fun playing with Leo! He's a good hider but I knew where he was would hide.  :) I have hid in those places from mom before :p

Leo was getting sleepy and so was I so to keep us awake I told him we should eat a snack to boost our energy. Honey Nut Cheerios!! My favorite!

The night went by fast. I had a good time playing with LeoPold. I hope he enjoyed his first adventure here. I want more TV's to come visit.

Well Mom said it's off to bed we go. Good thing she doesn't have to work tonight!

Take a look at all the fun we had at mom's work  B)

Goodnight friends!

Until the sun comes out again...

HALLOWEEN!, USA - 31st October 2010

By: atotalnobody

BOOOOOO!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

Did I scare you? My mom came up with this costume for me! It's our dog , Teddy's, costume from last year. He out grew it! Well lucky me  :) My mom said I am count Dracula! Muhahahaha

Mom and I took 3 visiting TV's (Leopold, UrselHH, & Tapsa) with us trick-o-treating! It was so much fun. Everyone like our little costumes that mom was able to come up with. We got so much candy!!

Mom said we had to share it all and not eat too much otherwise it would rot our teeth and hurt our bellies.

Look at the cool costumes mom was able to make for Leo, Ursel and Tapsa. She's really creative. I helped a little bit, but she did most of the work.

I am glad we were able to have these TV's visit just in time to celebrate this fun holiday. We all had so much fun.

Well, I am going to go eat more candy.

Love,
Tealc

Hello TV friends!

Sorry for such a long absence, my mom has been real sick in the hospital and has been away from me for about 10 days. Poor Momma! I missed her dearly but now she is well and back home and can take me on more adventures.

We have been on some fun adventures but since mom got sick she wasn't able to update most things while she was away.

One of the things we did was take Tapsa on one of his missions! It was so great to help another toy complete one of their life missions!! I hope whenever I get to travel around the world, another toy is kind enough to help me complete one of my missions. I would so love it very much.

The mission we help Tapsa complete is to see mountains!!

Without realizing it, I also completed one of my own missions to climb a mountain as well!  B) We didn't get to climb the whole way around the mountain like I had hoped but we did get some get pictures with it anyways. Take a look at the good time us toys had from the drive up all the way to the top of the mountain...

Hello TV Friends!

Guess what we did today? We went and looked at Christmas trees! Not just any trees but specially decorated trees! They were all so very beautiful. Mom and Dad took us to the Festival of Trees sponsored by Brenner's Children Hospital. It was an auction and the trees were all decorated and sold to those who wanted to sponsor the hospital. They also had lots of things for kids to do and see. It was great to see all the cool trees. I saw a teddy bear tree and was about to get a picture with it! Yippee!!
There were also some reindeer that we were able to take a ride on. So much fun! (Of course they weren't real , but still cool just the same)
We also saw large nutcracker and gingerbread man and mom even let us play in some presents.
It was a fun filled afternoon.Dad even came and was the photographer for us.

Take a look at all the things we got to see...

Hi there, it's me Tealc here

Sorry I haven't updated in sometime, my mom's computer broke. It is dead. RIP Red Dell Laptop. You will be missed. I have to use dad's computer which isn't too reliable.

I want to catch you up on a few things we have done in the past weeks.

Vahla and I took Tapsa and Ursel to mom's work. We have already been there numerous times but we wanted to show them around especially now that it has been decorated for Christmas. I showed them the time clock and how to clock in along with the call lights. I explained to them what my mom does and how she has to answer those lights at night while she works.

To kill the time throughout the night while mom worked we played a couple of games of checkers and visited with the nice friendly snowman that were used to help decorate place for christmas.
We even got to meet Santa!!!

Vahla and I had a good time showing Tapsa and Ursel around mom's work.

Turkey Day!!!, USA - 25th November 2010

By: atotalnobody

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TV FRIENDS!!

It's Thanksgiving here in the states. A time for good food, families and fun! Also a time when people use eating a lot of food as an excuse to get fat. HA!

Mom is off work today, but she did work last night. Poor mom. She agreed to cook for our family this year. Dad's mom and little brothers are coming over to celebrate with us so mom has to make sure that the house is clean and everything food wise is in order.

Mom ordered a turkey loaf and a ham for the main course/ main source of meat. Then she made a whole bunch of sides to go with the ham and turkey along with some yummy desserts!

All of us toys helped mom in the kitchen. We especially helped her prepare the snacks/finger foods and of course the yummy desserts.

Mom is a good cook, at least I think so; but definitely not Betty Crocker! Ha! Love you mom!

Us toys really had fun using the mixer. It's hard to control!

It's bout time for us to eat, the guests have arrived. I'll see ya later...

Eat up!

Tealc here...

What a BEAUTIFUL Fall day it is outside! Us toys begged mom to take us outside. She took us out to the big tree in front of our apartment. It looks so beautiful with its falling colorful leaves.

The temperature is cool but just warm enough to go out and enjoy for a bit. Mom let us climb the tree while she sat and read a book for about an hour. It was so peaceful and relaxing.

I wish it could always be Fall! The cool temps, colorful leaves falling to the ground and the crisp fresh air make for a wonderful season to enjoy the outdoors. I LOVE it!

Until we meet again

Glad to see you all again.

Mom bought all uf us toys some cool Christmas hats to get us into the spirit of the holiday season. I think I look pretty cool in my red santa cap. All of us toys got hats except for Tapsa. Unfortunately mom couldn't find a hat big enough to fit over his antlers. Poor Moose.

1st Day of Snow!!!, USA - 4th December 2010

By: atotalnobody

BRRRRR it's so cold outside! It's SNOWING!!!!! Today is the first day of snow here in NC. It is so beautiful falling to the ground. Too bad it's not enough for it to stick to the ground long enough to really play in it.

Mom and dad were driving around town when it started falling. When they got home it had stopped but us toys were able to get some pictures in the snow around the apartments.

I don't know what happened to the weather. Last week it was so beautiful outside and now it's froze! Yikes. I guess we are looking towards a snowy cold winter this year... BRRR! I don't like the cold.

I need to get some more winter clothes. It's too cold for me out! BRRRR!
