Balcarka cave, Czech Republic - 30th October 2010

By: dzejna

Hello Mummy!

Yesterday we decided to go for a trip to the caves. We chose the Balcarka cave, because my host said that in this one is best chance for good photographes.

This is in front of the cave - with monument looking like stalagmite.

And here we bought our tickets.

We were passing these rocks on our way to the entrance.

And voila, whole series from the cave.

http://i882.photobucket.com/albums/ac26/dzejna18/edward14/22.jpg

Where we were done with the cave, we decided to collect hips. We helped and thanks to us our host has almost 2 kilos!

Last thing we saw was this special hole in the ground. This happens when the ceiling of the cave collapse. The result is caaled the sink - because all the water disaapears in this hole - the same way like in the sink in the kitchen. Funny...

It was really nice day.
Bye for now, Edward

Moravian Karst + post office, Czech Republic - 10th November 2010

By: dzejna

Dear Mum,

last night I said good bye to all my friends here in the Czech Republic. Guys here helped me to accomplish a part of my tea mission, cause we had a tea party.

It was very nice green tea with pepper and curcuma. It is not only tasty, but also very very healthy.

Look, here we are enjoying the tea and biscuits  :D

Pay special attention to the blue bear on the first image. His name is Boo Boo and he is also TV form USA who arrived couple days ago. It means that I have met another bear!!

http://i882.photobucket.com/albums/ac26/dzejna18/Edward15/IMG_9304.jpg

The good bye was a bit sad, because I really had good time here. But as Bilbo said in Lord of the Rings: "I think I am quite ready for another adventure"  :cyclops:

Now when you are reading this I am already on my way to Australia. Everyone here wished me safe and short journey, so I hope it will help!

Mum, wish me luck for my journey too!

Love, Edward R. Bear

Whew! I arrived just in time to be whisked off with my new host to catch a train! We didn't even have time to be introduced until we got to the station and were able to sit for a few minutes.

Newcastle-Sydney train line, Australia - 17th December 2010

By: Prowl_Worshipper

These ''rattlers'' aren't that comfortable. My host says it's about time Newcastle got some of the new fancy trains they have in Sydney and I have to agree!

Sydney, NSW, Australia, Australia - 18th December 2010

By: Prowl_Worshipper

Well after about three hours on that train yesterday (this country is big!) and then tramping through Central Station and trying to find a taxi and then clambering up to our cheap room and then trying to find somewhere on Oxford St to eat, I was really wishing I had stayed with someone who knew their way around Sydney!

I'm sorry, Ed! I've only been there a couple of times myself :stare:

Sydney Football Stadium, Australia - 18th December 2010

By: Prowl_Worshipper

It's only about 1.5 kilometres from our accommodation to the Sydney Football Stadium where the concert is tonight, but it took ages because we got stuck in one of Sydney's afternoon traffic jams. But once we got there we found our seats quickly. My host has been to a few rugby league games here before. I almost wished it were winter so I could see a game! There were lots of people waiting for the concert to start, and I was lucky to be on the shady side of the Stadium!

The concert was amazing! I tried to get some photos of myself and the band, but we were too far away  :(

Sydney, NSW, Australia, Australia - 19th December 2010

By: Prowl_Worshipper

We slept in a bit this morning. My host couldn't get a taxi last night after the concert and somehow we got lost walking back to our room! It took quite a bit longer than travelling in a taxi  But we're going to have fun today! My host is going on a short cruise on Sydney Harbour (and I am too, of course!) First we walked around Circular Quay for a little while, and once again I wished I were in Sydney with a host who knew where she was going *sigh* This hotel made my host groan and complain. Why? Because apparently it's where the hard-core English cricket fans stay when England is playing Australia in Sydney! The English supporters are known as the Barmy Army! The seagulls are very pushy; we didn't even have any food but they still came very close!

Our cruise was short but great fun! It's not hot out on the water, even in the summer sun. There were lots of other boats about. We waved to a Captain Cook cruiser, and one person even shouted to my host to throw me over for a photo! I wasn't brave enough though; it was too far and I didn't want to finish up at the bottom of Sydney Harbour! I saw a Manly Ferry; that's like a taxi on water. That funny bridge (not the Harbour Bridge) is called the Anzac Bridge, in honour of Australia's war veterans. Lunch was yummy - look at these prawns! They were almost as big as me!

After the cruise, we wandered around the other side of Circular Quay again for a while. There were lots of other boats anchored around. I would have liked to go on this one! We came across this table display with some wonderful old photos and information on Sydney Harbour's beginnings

It has been a long time since my trip to Sydney, but my host's mum isn't well, so I think it will be better if I go home. My host says I can come back anytime and she will show me around her home town  :D
