Nagano, Japan - 8th August 2010

By: sidhe

Hi everyone!

I took part in the 90th anniversary of Girl Scouting Japan camp, at the Togakushi Girl Scout Centre. It was in such a beautiful place! There were mountains all around and we had a really big tent, but we still managed to get it messy!
http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/4499/tent1m.jpg
http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/4775/tent2u.jpg

I took part in the international day, looking after the UK booth! Here it is:
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/3797/internationalday.jpg

Two members of the Japanese Imperial Family came to look round, and Princess Kiko actually said that I was very cute! (Cute in Japanese is 'kawaii,' I heard it a lot  ;) ) Unfortunately it is taboo to take photos of the Imperial family so my moment of greatness cannot be shown  :(  :p

The camp was five days and really tiring, me and Rebecca looked forward to the 6 hour bus journey after it so we could sleep!

See ya,
Peachy Chai  :)

Tokyo, Japan - 11th August 2010

By: sidhe

Hi again!

After the camp in Nagano we went to TOKYO!!! It is such an amazing city >.< Look at the groovy youth hostel we stayed in:
http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/5863/hostel.png
We spent a day and a bit in Ueno Park, it has a lake, temples and shrines, lots of museums and even a zoo!
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/9862/ueno.jpg
One of the museums was Tokyo National Museum, it was really interesting to look around.
http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/4403/museum.jpg
My favourite thing was this red laquuer box. (We couldn't use flash so the photos aren't very clear :( )
http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/8485/boxmf.jpg
I also saw an egyptian mummy, wow! I think it was a girl, but you couldn't really tell!
http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/5680/mummyb.jpg
We also went to Harajuku on this day, but I didn't like it very much :( I was worried I would get lost because it was very busy so I only peeped out the edge of Becca's bag!

*Yawn!* It was all lots of fun but very tiring!
See you soon,
Peachy Chai <3

Tokyo, Japan - 12th August 2010

By: sidhe

Our last day in Tokyo! :(

Today we went on a boat trip so see lots of Tokyo sights. It was fun and a really good way to look around: not too tiring!
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/9899/boat3.jpg
http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/3356/boat1x.jpg
http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/2277/boat2.jpg
Here's a flood gate, they had lots of them because if it flooded so many houses would be ruined! I like this one because it is such a cool colour  ;)
http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/676/floodgate.jpg
I also ate the best thing ever today..... 'Matcha (green tea to you and me) Cheese Tart'..... it was so good! But no one believed me or Rebecca  :( .... oh well their loss!  :p
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/9486/matcha.jpg
Next stop, England (via Dubai  )

Heathrow, England - 14th August 2010

By: sidhe

Back in England!

Phewf, after another 24 hours travelling, we ended up back in England.... it was raining as we arrived!

Next week I'm going to visit RikeH, or so Rebecca has told me! I'm really looking forward to visiting Germany, I've never been there and neither has Becca so she doesn't know what to tell me about it!

See you all in Germany!

xxx Peachy Chai

PS wish me luck, I'm not used to travelling in parcels, I'm a bit nervous!

Hamburg, Germany - 1st September 2010

By: RikeH

Hello Mum,

I went to Hamburg with RikeH today. She had to work, but promised to show me a nice place in the city in the lunchtime. We went around the nice Lake Alster. There is a fountain in the middle.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1006.jpg

There were swans...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1009.jpg

... and a colorful carrousel.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1010.jpg

This is the flag of Hamburg - and in the background a very expensive hotel.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1012.jpg

Another view of the Alster Lake.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1013.jpg

We crossed the road and saw the Townhall

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1017.jpg

and other nice buildings on the other side.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1018.jpg

What a nice trip!

Bad Oldesloe, Germany - 4th September 2010

By: RikeH

Hi Mum,

we went to a small city today - it is called Bad Oldesloe - and RikeH went to school there - years ago...

First we went to a nice river.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1021.jpg

Here I stood in front of the Townhall.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1027.jpg

This is the church near to the city centre.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1029.jpg

There are many nice old houses.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1038.jpg

And I really loved this view.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1039.jpg

Dicker Kumpel told me that the water wheel normally moves - but not today.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1048.jpg

Many greetings
Peachy Chai

Eekholt, Germany - 10th September 2010

By: RikeH

Hello again,

today we went to a Park with many animals.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1112.jpg

This beech marten looked so nice, but RikeH told me that they sometimes live in
the houses of the humans, and the humans don't really like it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1087.jpg

The wild boars were really funny.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1093.jpg

I saw a wonderful roe.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1097.jpg

Maybe you cannot see them so well, but there were many storks.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1099.jpg

I talked with this friendly sheep.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1104.jpg

After the long walk we all relaxed on this monument.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1085.jpg

Bye

Sülfeld, Germany - 15th September 2010

By: RikeH

Hi Mum,

it was time to explore Sülfeld today. First I went to the nice old Church.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1060.jpg

This is the old school.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1062.jpg

The mayor works here.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1069.jpg

I loved this old door.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1075.jpg

Later we went to a nice little lake.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1078.jpg

And we enjoyed the sun.

Malchow, Germany - 18th September 2010

By: RikeH

Hello again,

We went to a small town called Malchow. This is the view to the Malchow Lake. We had nice
sunshine.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1177.jpg

I had a nice cup of coffee and a delicious cake.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1183.jpg

This is the town's landmark - a church.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1193.jpg

And this is the view back to the city.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1194.jpg

The townhall...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1202.jpg

... and another view of the church.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1206.jpg

One of my missions is to be photographed with a car the same color as me, I found
a nice one - but it has only green dots.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1211.jpg

Back to the hotel - we went through the garden of the hotel. You can see the hotel in
the background.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1214.jpg

There is a nice small Pavillon in the garden.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1215.jpg

This is the view of the garden from our balcony. Really nice!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1227.jpg

We relaxed in the sun and talked about our adventures in Malchow.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1231.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1232.jpg

Waren, Germany - 19th September 2010

By: RikeH

Ahoi from the MS Stadt Malchow,

We made a trip on a boat to another town, called Waren. Our trip lasted two hours.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1240.jpg

This is the Müritz - the biggest Lake of Germany, that only belongs to Germany.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1245.jpg

Far away you can see Waren.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1253.jpg

I talked with this friendly wooden guy.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1261.jpg

This is a photo of our boat.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1265.jpg

Views from the biggest place in Waren.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1283.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1284.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1285.jpg

A really wonderful church.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1286.jpg

The inner Harbour.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1303.jpg

We started with a wooden guy - at the end of our trip we met this colorful man -
he told me great stories.

Wismar, Germany - 20th September 2010

By: RikeH

Hello Mum,

Today we went back home and stopped in a town called Wismar. This is the centre of  the old town is
the huge Market Place, the largest in Germany (10,000 square metres).  The square's focal point is the
Wasserkunst, an elaborate wrought-iron fountain imported from Holland in 1602.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1333.jpg

The northern side of the square is occupied by the Town Hall, built in neoclassical style in 1817–1819.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1335.jpg

Another notable building in the square is an ancient Gothic warehouse called Alter Schwede (The Old Swede),
erected around 1380.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1334.jpg

The 80 m high tower church of St Mary (Marienkirche) is the only remainder of the original Brick Gothic edifice, built in the first half of the 13th century. It suffered heavy damage in World War II, and was deliberately destroyed in 1960 under the East German Communist government.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1336.jpg

Then we went to the old port. In the background you can see the Water Gate.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1346.jpg

And here is a view of the harbour.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1347.jpg

I walked over a bridge with 4 pigs on it - I loved this funny one most.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1357.jpg

Bernd the Bread is really famous in Germany. He is a TV-Star. Back home we saw one of his shows in the TV.
I am proud to be his friend.

Sülfeld, Germany - 4th October 2010

By: RikeH

Hello Mum,

It is my last day here in Sülfeld. I said goodbye to Dicker Kumpel.
He was such a great host!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0050-1.jpg

Three of the others TVs will leave today too. Bernd and Timothy can stay longer.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0053.jpg

We all gave us a big hug…

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0054.jpg

… stood together and talked all night long.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0055.jpg

I will miss Dicker Kumpel, RikeH and the others – but now I am ready for a new host in the same country. Annett in Germany – I am coming!

Yours Peachy
