Hello friends.

I'm hanging at home on this rainy day, daydreaming about the world outside.

Whoohoo! Stamps is nicely tucked into his little box inside of his envelope. Tomorrow he begins his first trip! He's being snail-mailed to Springfield, Missouri, USA, to hang out with some family friends. He's so excited to finally be on his way!  B)

Springfield, MO, United States of America - 22nd May 2010

Stamps arrived safe and sound, and we took him out for a day on the town in Springfield, Missouri!

First, we drove across town and had some lunch at Honey-Baked Ham. Stamps didn't eat much, but he did have a bit of my soda. He even signed up for their mailing list.

Then we took Stamps to a very important landmark -- the World's Biggest Fork! We left when he started asking uncomfortable questions about escargot and it's relation to forks in general.

Next, we went to the unavoidable Springfield tourist trap: Bass Pro Shop's Outdoor World. The stuffed bear kind of freaked Stamps out, cause he thought he saw it move, so we went and looked at the fish and turtles. Then we found a boat just the right size for Stamps, and he was stoked.

Oh, and he sat in the driver's seat of a race car they had on display! They wouldn't let him take it out for a drive, unfortunately.

That's not all we did! More to come in the next post!

After Bass Pro, we headed to the Dickerson Park Zoo! Stamps saw emus, flamingos, monkeys, koi and a bunch of other animals, and that was only half the zoo. We had to stop and get the poor little guy a soda. Once he guzzled that down, we headed on through the zoo seeing tigers, mountain lions, giraffes, and all the other animals we didn't see before! The otters were his favorite, but they wouldn't hold still long enough for us to take a picture.  :(

Then we headed out to Fantastic Caverns, a huge cave where you can take a tour riding in little trams. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to go take the tour, but we looked around the grounds and the gift shop a bit.

After that we went back into town and went to Hammons Stadium, where the Springfield Cardinals minor league team plays. They are a farm team for the St. Louis Cardinals. Across the street is Hammons Tower, the only skyscraper in Springfield. As you might have guessed, they're owned by the same guy. Stamps even got to pose with the Cardinal's mascot, Louie! They were instant friends. Totally.

After dinner at Old Chicago Pizza, and then some frozen yogurt at Andy's Frozen Custard, we closed out the day with some kite flying! Stamps flew my pirate kite, and did a good job. He almost flew away with it a few times, but we caught him!

On the way home, we stopped by a firestation, and Stamps was made an honorary Springfield firefighter!

Stamps was so worn out, he slept all night and most of the next day.  :D

I just got a message from Stamps current hosts. They want to keep him a bit longer so they can take him to Branson, Missouri, USA. They want to show him Silver Dollar City and all the other touristy things in that town. They wanted to take him this weekend but the trip had to be unexpected postponed at the last minute.

Home, USA - 30th October 2011

Stamps returned home after his little adventure.

We had a lot of life changes in the last few months, including a move across the country. Will Stamps be traveling again soon? I hope so. When? That I'm uncertain.
