Remscheid, Germany - 21st May 2010

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
today it's my last day here in Germany. We took the last photos in the city centre. Here you can see the city hall.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4044/4626669717_e90cc05328_o.jpg

There is a wedding party in front of the main entrance. The marriage ceremony is usually taking place in a special room in the city halls in Germany.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4070/4626669625_6daab0635a_o.jpg

We are standing on the market place, the farmer market is taking place here on Wednesday and Saturday. There is a pillar on the place, showing a lion, the heraldic animal of Remscheid.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3415/4626670079_3dbc511a7c_o.jpg

You can find a restaurant in the basement of nearly every city hall in Germany - it is usually called "Ratskeller". Katja's daughter Alex is working here as a cook. She has to learn this profession for three and a half year. In August she will have learned for already two years.

Oh, my flap is askew.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3386/4627278038_91c9890d02_o.jpg

We were almost home than.

Remscheid, Germany - 21st May 2010

By: olgamaus

Two surprises were waiting for us at home. Two ToyVoyagers arrived, Bart and Squirt.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3368/4627279304_f56615ea97_o.jpg

The second surprise was a package from Squirt's Mummy with sweets from Japan, two panda bears which were adopted by Katja and egg shapers. I have never seen egg shapers before.

Then it was time to say goodbye to all my friends here. Bernd the Bread is also leaving today.

I took some sweets for my next host with me but maybe I will eat them if the journey should last too long. So I'm off to Croatia now!

Bye

By: CandleAshes

Hi Mom! Surprise! I have already arrived in NYC!  :cyclops:
This was the fastest trip ever. My host seems really nice. We ate the candy I brought with me and she was delighted by all the fun and unexpected shapes it came in. I will take a few days to recuperate from my trip and will go out to explore the city.
Talk to you soon  :D

NYC, USA - 9th December 2010

By: CandleAshes

Hello,
I've spent the last few weeks helping my host work on her design projects. More about this later, first I want show you photos from an outing we had in November. I got to go to the Metropolitan Museum of art! We will probably go back again during my host's winter break, it's one of her favorite places in the city.

This is me in front of the museum and the fountain. It's a very large building and the museum has a bit of everything in it from furniture to paintings of various time periods to armor.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5286/5246062534_32cc0d18eb.jpg

We also took a short walk in the Central Park before meeting one of my host's friends for lunch.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5009/5245461737_4d6b641dbf.jpg

For now I've been working very hard helping my host make hats and handbags (end even shoes!). My host says that I am a very snazzy dresser, with my hat and luggage and all :D It's been a lot of fun seeing how things everything is made from simple sketches into actual objects, but it's making both of us tired and we can't wait for the winter break in two weeks. Then we'll put up the christmas tree and wrap gifts and get to go out a lot and see how beautiful New York is during the holiday season when everything is decorated and covered with lights.

NYC, USA - 5th January 2011

By: CandleAshes

Hello!
I had a wonderful time today. I was going to go out last week, but there was a huge snow storm and we got snowed in. The subway train next to my host's house didn't run for four days. The snow is still on the ground, but it's melting and the roads are very icy. We did have a nice time celebrating Christmas and the New Year at home, I'll show you photos of the Christmas tree I helped decorate later. Oh, there are two other TVs staying here, Luke and Bumba, they are really nice.

We went to the Guggenheim museum today. Cameras aren't allowed inside, but my friends and I got see the show with a tour guide. We went for a walk at Central Park after the tour. This is a view of the museum from the park.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5088/5325801851_45cf06d1e6_z.jpg

We walked over to the Belvedere Castle next to Turtle Pond. It's one of my host's favorite places and I can see why, the view is amazing. The pond usually has very large turtles living in it, but it is completely frozen right now.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5044/5326408316_80ae29bc46_z.jpg

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5050/5326408830_30692a7f75_z.jpg

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5085/5325802205_e6581db5d4_z.jpg

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5082/5326408976_1723039604_z.jpg

The area behind the castle is modeled to look like a forest. There are hills, narrow paths and stones. The paths were really icy and we had to be extra careful when walking around.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5002/5325802985_0248c6911f_z.jpg

This is the Bethesda Fountain (with the Angel of Waters sculpture on top of it) and Terrace. You can go boat-riding on the lake in the background during spring and summer months.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5249/5326409302_d16dd7a3f7_z.jpg

After the park we walked over to Rockefeller Square to see the Christmas tree. It's Huge  :o I can't believe that it's a real tree. the star on top is Swarovski crystal.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5043/5326409640_70a27d60f4_z.jpg

I think that NY is amazing and I can't wait to see more. I'll write more soon. Love, Paddington.

Sülfeld, Germany - 15th March 2011

By: RikeH

Hello Mum,

I arrived safe in Sülfeld. But sadly a little late to go on the holiday with RikeH and Dicker Kumpel.

But I heard other voices outside of my envelope and decided to climb out of it. Two other TVs arrived, too, and jumped out of their envelopes - just as I did.

In the house were a lovely old lady  - she took us on a walk through Sülfeld, because the weather was so nice.

Here you see Archimonde, Gracy and me in front of the old school.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0265.jpg

Look, this is the place, where the mayor works - and the emblem of Sülfeld.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0268.jpg

The house has a nice old door.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0269.jpg

I relaxed in the sun, next to a little lake.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0264.jpg

The old church of Sülfeld is really beautiful.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0274.jpg

On the other side of the street is the old pharmacy.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0275.jpg

This was a nice walk.

Many greetings

Sülfeld, Germany - 20th March 2011

By: RikeH

Hi Mum,

it is a sunny Sunday today. We enjoyed the sun and waited for our hosts to come home.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0278.jpg

And here they come - Dicker Kumpel and his guest Inuk - RikeH is behind the camera...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0279.jpg

Dicker Kumpel apologized for not being here when we arrived - but no problem, the mail system worked slowly. We talked a lot about the last days.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0280.jpg

There were many beautiful flowers in the garden - I wanted to show you some of it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0287.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0288.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0293.jpg

They are really nice, aren't they? RikeH told me that it is good to have the Springtime now.

Later we went into the house and sat on our place. Dicker Kumpel and his guests have an own big armchair.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0297.jpg

Suddenly we heart someone laughing. A yellow guy looked around the corner.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0298.jpg

Dicker Kumpel and Inuk met him in Zingst. He heard about the life of ToyVoyagers and wants to become one, too. Well, we will see - he had to talk to RikeH about it...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0299.jpg

Next week we will visit a really big city called Hamburg - Dicker Kumpel told us, that it is a great place to see.

Hamburg, Germany - 21st March 2011

By: RikeH

Hello Mum,

we went to Hamburg today. Behind me you can see the Gothic Revival Church of St. Nicholas. It was formerly one of the five Lutheran main churches in Hamburg. It is now in ruins, serving as a memorial.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0304.jpg

We went there because a colleague of RikeH told us, that there is an elevater, who can take us to a 75,3 metre-high platform inside the spire.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0305.jpg

Of course we tried it out. And here you see the view – it was amazing. You can see the Townhall and the Lake Alster behind me.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0310.jpg

This was the view to the old warehouse destrict of Hamburg – there are many nice old buildings.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0317.jpg

The next direction is to the Port of Hamburg. I would love to start a cruise from there, Mum.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0323.jpg

It was nice on the platform, but very windy and RikeH was afraid of loosing us, so we went down to the ground. Here you see all of us together.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0325.jpg

Can you imagine – I was there on the tower!!!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0326.jpg

It was amazing.

Hamburg, Germany - 24th March 2011

By: RikeH

Hi Mum,

RikeH told me that she had a surprise for me. I was very curious - she told something about life missions...

Look - we started our trip with a train.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0331.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0332.jpg

This was inside the train - a nice train, I think.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0333.jpg

I looked out of the window - first it was nature outside...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0334.jpg

...later we were in the city.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0335.jpg

This is the central library of Hamburg.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0336.jpg

Well, we are not sure, if this was enough for my first life mission - I cannot remember,  if the train has to be in London??? Please let us know, Mum.

I was happy to drive with the train, but RikeH had another surprise for me. We met two other ToyVoyagers in the city - TobiHH - and LewisHH - LewisHH is a TV-Bear, too.

I was so glad to meet him.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0337.jpg

TobiHH and RikeH talked a lot - he just came back from a holiday in England. So LewisHH and I  made some sightseeing. This is the Lake Binnenalster.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0338.jpg

Behind us you see the townhall.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0339.jpg

Another nice view.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0340.jpg

This was the townhall from the other side. Then I said goodbye to LewisHH, it was nice to meet another Bear.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0341.jpg

I just took two other photos of the Townhall.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0344.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0345.jpg

On the way back TobiHH and I met Dicker Kumpel, who did some Shopping in Hamburg.  We had some delicious Hamburgers.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0346.jpg

Then something funny happened - LewisHH came out of the bag of RikeH. He decided to stay some days with us - so we can have a lot of fun together.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0347.jpg

We offered him a Hamburger, but it was really small for him.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0350.jpg

Fortunately RikeH shared her Dinner with LewisHH. So we all had enough.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011/B_0351.jpg

I will write more soon.

Love
Paddington Bear
