Hi Mom!
I spent the week end to the mountain, in a place called Spiazzi, not far from Verona. The weather was warm and sunny, I like spring so much!
My host promised me that next week end we go to the lake and I just can't wait to leave.
I'll send you some more pictures soon!

Hi Mom!
I'm to the Lake of Garda, in a place called Sirmione.
There are quite a lot of things to do here. First of all I visited the castle, do you like it? I walked just in front of the Lake and I met two swans.
Yesterday my host took me to a spa... you can see people with white bath robes just behind me, unfortunately it was not allowed to take photos inside!
I went in a park with olive trees and I could relax laying among daisies.
When it started getting darg I decided it was time to come back home.
Bye

I started from the famous theatre called Scala, then I went to the "Duomo" Cathedral passing trough the gallery called Vittorio Emanuele II (he was an Italian King).
The last stop is Castello Sforzesco, a castle in the center of the city sorrounded by a wide park.
Bye for now

The result was ok for Inter that is now qualified for the final so, after the match, people went in the streets celebrating and honking! It was funny!!!

Graz, Austria - 9th May 2010
By: marcie08
Hi Mom!
I have arrived here in Austria at my new host mom's house! There were already some other toyvoyagers waiting for! I was a bit nervous...so many new toyvoyagers but they were all very welcoming!
We sat together and talked about our adventures! These are my new friends: Fiorillo, Dottie Mouse, Happy Leopard and SandiRose. You can't see Cpl. Flapjack Jr, as he was out with a family friend to ride a horse!
Today is Mother's Day here and so we went to my host mom's mom to celebrate it with a bbq and of course some cake! It was a yummi strawberry one: Looks delicious, don't you think? Of course I got a piece too
I hope that you had a wonderful day, too Mom! A huge Mother's Day kiss to you!
That's all for now!
Bye!

Graz, Austria - 15th May 2010
By: marcie08
Hi Mom!
This week there will be another big celebration. My host grandma's birthday. We will celebrate it with the family in another city of Austria, Kottingbrunn. That's near Vienna! As the other family members will organize everything, we thought of buying them a present! So we went to a big flower market and had a look!
We then decided on buying a basket of strawberries! Mmmmhhh...I love strawberries! My host-mom also picked up some flowers for her own balcony: Look, aren't they beautiful?
And we also bought a special potato-pot: You can see that the inner pot has some holes, where you can harvest the potatoes. My host mom told me that she had potatoes on the balcony last year, and that they tasted really great! I have to wait and see, I guess!

Kottingbrunn, Austria - 20th May 2010
By: marcie08
Hi Mom!
As I told you in my last update, we have travelled to Kottingbrunn, which is a small city in Lower Austria, near Vienna. We celebrated my host grabdma's birthday here. We had brilliant weather and so we took a walk around the city!
We went to the Wasserschloss first where a dog exhibition was held. But they did not let me take part, as I am a hippo... So we decided to walk on and went to the huge park that surrounds the castle.
Later we walked along a river and came upon beautiful flowers in the cornfields. These are poppies, my host mom told me. Aren't they beautiful? But you are not supposed to pluck them, as they will loose all their patels when plucked! So we had to admire them in the fields! It is a really beautiful landscape here!

Graz, Austria - 25th May 2010
By: marcie08
Hi Mom!
My host mom had visitors from the US here, distant relatives! So we decided to show them around!
We went to the Eggenberg Castle, a beautiful castle in Graz!
The castle is a Baroque castle and it was built with astronomical influences. There are for example 365 windows for the days of the year, 4 towers for the seasons of the year, and so on.
We also took a tour of the 24 (as in hours per day) State rooms, but we have no pictures of that! Not enough time because we had to follow our tour guide!
There is also the beautiful garden with free running peacocks! But they are nice, no worries! They just scream a lot
Bye!

St. Andrä, Southern Styria, Austria - 29th May 2010
By: marcie08
Hi Mom!
Today we went to Southern Styria, the area where they grow white wine! You can see many vineyards and there are wineries where you can have a tasting. We went there for a "Backhendl", a fried chicken which is a local speciality here. We then had a nice walk and saw the beautiful hills, flowers and the Styrian flag! We also saw the Klapotetz, which is kind of a big scarecrow - it is made of wood and when the wind catches the wood, it makes a noise to scare away the birds that eat the young grapes!
When we returned home, we had a cheese tasting as my host grandparents have just returned from Italy and brought a lot of cheese home! A great thing for a cheese-loving Hippo like me
What a great day!
