Oebisfelde, Germany - 19th June 2010
By: bruehwuerfelchen
Hello Mommy,
Sorry, I totally forgot to post in my travelog.
Everyday, I have a lot of fun with the other toyvoyagers, staying here.
The weather is not so good and we didn't do much.
But the weather forecast promised better weather and I hope we will be able to discover more soon.
We went to the Mittelland Canal, which is with 325.7 kilometres or 202.4 mi length, the longest artificial waterway in Germany.
After that, we played hide and seek in the garden.
Can you see me?
Here, I am with some nice flower.
I will post soon more interesting photos.
Until then,
Yours,

Wolfsburg, Germany - 25th June 2010
By: bruehwuerfelchen
Hello Mommy,
Today we went to Wolfsburg.
The weather became much better and we had a nice walk.
Firstly, we went to see the old power station.
It's a class listed monument and one chimney is under renovation.
On the picture you can see the Mittelland Canal again.
Look, a fast train (ICE) is passing.
At the left side of the picture you can see the Phaeno, which is a interactive science centre.Beside the train you can see the train station. It is really small, isn't it?
Behind that in the far end you can see the Volkswagen office tower.
Quote: | Wolfsburg was founded in 1938 as Stadt des KdF-Wagens (English: City of the KdF Car), a planned town around the village of Hesslingen in the District of Gifhorn in order to house the workers of the Volkswagen factories. During World War II, there were also jeeps, airplanes and other military equipment built, mainly by forced workers and POWs at these factories. The train station of Wolfsburg was built by attorney of Adolf Hitler in order to transport or receive prefabricated parts for military equipment.
In 1945, the city was renamed Wolfsburg after the castle of the same name located in the city, which was founded about 1300 on the bank of the Aller river. Today, there is another castle at the place, which was built after 1600. In 1951, Wolfsburg was separated from the District of Gifhorn, and became an urban district. In November 2003, Wolfsburg was renamed "Golfsburg" for one week to celebrate the 5th generation of the Volkswagen Golf. |
So, as you read Wolfsburg is a rather young town, with a quite bad history.
At the next picture you can see the town hall of Wolfsburg.
Isn't it a nice piece of architecture?
This picture shows the Town hall square and a pedestrian area.
The building behind the flags, is the library.
This picture is a little bit bad but you can see the centre of Wolfsburg and in the background the new power plant.
I hope you liked the pictures, soon I will show you Oebisfelde.
See you soon,
Yours,
S

We will try to add the photos soon.
If you want to check the photos, please go to:

Meanwhile, I will go on to discover Turkey.

Kapirdag, Turkey - 1st August 2010
By: bruehwuerfelchen
Hello Mommy!
How are you doing?
Last weekend we went Camping at Erdek at Kapirdag, a peninsula at the Marmara sea.
We took a ferry boat from Istanbul to Bandirma the the main town in the rural district.
Then we went by car to Erkek.
Some pictures of our camping site.
It is located in a small village called Düzle, which belongs to Erdek.
The site even had it's own beach.Sadly, it was a little bit foggy that morning and one couldn't see the other side of the bay.
After some rest we went to Erdek.
On this picture you can see the port of Erdek. There is a small car ferry, which goes to the Marmara island, Avşa island, Paşalimanı island Ekinlik island and to Tekirdag a town at the West of the Marmara sea.
In Erdek we had a nice breakfast.
With full tummies we went to see a little bit of Kapirdag. We laid down and enjoyed the nature.
In the background you can see the Marmara Island, we wanted to go there too but we didn't have time.
A bay.
In the background you can see Bandirma and the entrance to Kapirdag.
Can you see the small white factory ? At the opposite of the bay, is the camping site located.
It was time to go home and we went back to Bandirma, were we took a small walk before using the ferry boat back to Istanbul.
I hope you liked the pictures of our trip.
Have a nice time.
Yours, S.
