Travelog for: Ndlovu

Hi everyone!

My name is Ndlovu, I am an African elephant. Ndlovu means 'elephant' in Zulu (erm, my Mom has NO imagination.... )



As you know, we elephants have really good memories - BUT, we need to learn things first before we can remember them. So, I'd like to travel around the world learning cool stuff.



Where better to learn anything than at school right? I am off, as an exchanged student, to a school in Australia. I can't wait to meet everyone in 2RR! Kellie koala will be taking my place in my class in Johannesburg.

Ndlovu has arrived safely and will be having his first day at school tomorrow!

Today was my first day in my new class, 2RR. I was feeling a little bit scared and nervous about meeting all of the students in the class but I was also a little bit happy because I was going to make lots of new friends.
There are 24 students and 1 teacher in 2RR and they speak lots of different languages. They speak Arabic, Bangali, Indian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Pushtu, Somali, Spanish and Fijian as well as English.
I hope I have a fun time here and learn lots!

I look out the window at the tree and the little birds and some eggs. I can see the Spida too. Its fun! (AV)

Today was a good day for me because 2RR was doing their work quietly in class. They made me happy. Sometimes I got sad, but 2RR said to me "You are good too." (JPN)


This is the teacher's messy desk. I can see all the stuff on her desk. She has bandages, papers, bags and a book. (BE)


I was sitting on Mrs M's door. She works with students in our school. She is very kind. (AW)


This is our messy toy shelf. There are puzzles, lego and lots of other games. Plus, you can see 2RR's paintings. They are paintings 2RR did about their friends. (ZH)

This is Big Bear. When the children come quickly for reading somebody gets to take him and sit on him. (NK)


I was having so much fun, I got up on the table and went upside down like a bat. (NR)

Lunch time!
2RR eats their lunch on the verandah outside their room.
I wanted to see what was in everyone's lunchbox and they were all very excited to show me.

This is the lunch order basket. Some people get lunch orders from the canteen and we get them in the basket. (DA)

This was my first time to eat lunch with 2RR. I like to eat and I feel happy to meet my class. They are nice and sometimes they are funny, even Miss R. I ate a salami sandwich with my friend. (UN)


This is a tuna sandwich. I loved it so much. The sandwich was in a lunch bag.


It was so much fun at eating time. They let me take pictures when we ate. (NS)


I was looking at some people's food that they eat. I saw some Nutella wraps, salami sandwiches and noodles. I wanted to eat some of it. At lunchtime I played with some children. (JE)

Today after lunch 2RR was working on their puppet show. I was sitting on a lily pad the painting team made. (CG)


I am sitting on the paint. We use the paint to make pictures and paint our names. (KA)


The painting is a pond. I was pretending to drink water because I am thirsty. I love water. The painting is for our puppet show. (SH)


I am learning about the life cycle of a frog. We are making puppet show about frogs. (AF)


They showed me how to make puppets. They are making a puppet show. It is a frog life cycle puppet show. They were sewing. It was fun. (SH)
