Homburg, Germany - 22nd January 2009

By: Apperveilchen

I was greeted here by SaruMaru and Emil. We shared a cold beer-apple mix. Emil says it was brewed in this town.
I asked about the origined of beer, as people seem to like it. Some sources as early as the 7th century BC talk write about a brew like beer in Asia Minor, made of barley bread and fruit. The Egyptians, Ancient Greek, Romans, Celts, Chinese, Native Americans... all brewed something like beer. Aristotle even made some scientific research: He found out that beer is a great sleeping draught. He even empirically found that "beer has the peculiarity that it makes those who drink too much of it fall backwards, while excessive consumption of wine causes then to fall to all sides". I noted it all down and will try to observe it in the humans I see consuming either drink.

Homburg, Germany - 25th January 2009

I learnt a Sunday morning custom today: people go to get rolls at the bakery. Some do it every week but others only on special occasions or when they feel like it because it isn't cheap.

Essen, Germany - 4th February 2009

By: Apperveilchen

Today we were packed in a bag and taken on a road trip. It took hours. There were smaller traffic jams and rain and salty water on the roads. It was made better because we were all in the car and had air-conditioning and could listen to a story from a CD. It was about a serial killer who really doesn't understand humans, their behaviour and emotions. I could sympathizie sometimes because I also have trouble with that but it doesn't mean I go around killing people. At least not yet. I might start if this goes on. I have read about something called road rage and I think I might have seen examples of it today. The calmest and most patient person seems to somehow change when sitting behind the wheel of a car and starts screaming and honking and flashing the lights at other drivers for the smallest things or even for no reason at all. I took some notes and will have to compare them to the text books later.

For now we have arrived in a more crowded area and took all our stuff into a house. They have cats here, not my primary study but another example that most humans seem to like to band together and form a biocoenosis that includes various animals and growing green stuff.
I decided to explore the house. SaruMaru gave me the good idea to have a look at the different alcohols favored in different human communities. I didn't want him 'tasting' it all into oblivion before I had a chance to get a good look so I snuck off to explore the storage areas of the house while he was lazy.
We have this carton of wine.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16360.jpg
Apparently it can be opened and closed for reuse while the actual wineskin does not fill with air to keep the wine drinkable.

They can be quite smart, these humans.

Then there were various bottled beverages:
different beers
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16366.jpghttp://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16363.jpg
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16362.jpg
carbonated and non-carbonated water
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16364.jpghttp://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16367.jpg
organic lemonade
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16365.jpg
and lots of wine
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16368.jpghttp://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16370.jpghttp://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16372.jpghttp://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16369.jpghttp://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16371.jpg
Hmm,will we get to taste any of this?

Let's have a look into the fridge! Lychee wine, white wine, sparkling wine, beer...
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16374.jpghttp://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16375.jpg
...grape jelly with mustard?
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16376.jpg
Maybe I should share my discoveries with SaruMaru. There seems to be enough of everything here.

Düsseldorf, Germany - 6th February 2009

By: Apperveilchen

We are starting from Düsseldorf International Airport. I have to stay in the big bag with Saru Maru. It's dark and kind of stuffy in here. My hiost said that would probably not be worse than sitting in the plane because the humans are packed in there like that, too.

Frisco, Texas, USA - 9th February 2009

By: Apperveilchen

This seems to be an example of very practical and cost efficient architecture. I wonder what it means for the individual development of the humans living here. They seem to drive similar cars, do similar jobs, send their kinds to the same day care, visit the same gym at the same time to do the same thing... I could write a paper just about this street and the humans living here. I like it! This is how I would plan for our colonization of the world.

Atlanta, USA - 15th February 2009

By: Apperveilchen

In Atlanta we had to change planes. Here you can see our's being prepared for the journey. We could even see the bag the others were traveling in.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16484.jpg
I spent a few interesting hours watching people in the terminal and guessing where they were from, where they were going to and why, who would choose where to eat and so on. I noted it all down.

Essen, Germany - 19th February 2009

By: Apperveilchen

Today, quite a lot of snow fell but it melted immediately upon hitting the ground.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16496.jpg
SaruMaru and I decided to go outside to enjoy the experience.
This is Räuber, a cat that lives here. He likes to claim my host(-family) are his can-openers.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16491.jpg
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16489.jpg
He inspected SaruMaru and me and decided we were not edible. I Think my coloring made that clear faster than SaruMaru's.

This is our new dorm room. It is quite a big one actually and it has its private bath. But the hospital bedsheets have to go!

Merzig, Germany - 6th March 2009

By: Apperveilchen

Today I took a last look around Merzig and took pictures even though it was raining a little.
Here's a street with some typical houses.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16514.jpg
The backs of such houses are like this, with balconies and gardens, a number of people still grow their own vegetables, herbs and some fruit.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16519.jpg

If you walk around the town you will probably have to cross little canals such as this:
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16516.jpghttp://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16517.jpg
There are a few hidden paths along those.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16515.jpg

I just like this tree.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16513.jpg

Here's tiny Fellenberg castle.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/Apperveilchen/toyvoyagers2/SSL16518.jpg

And the psychiatric hospital, it looks like something out of MTV Fear.

Virginia, USA - 16th March 2009

By: pandabr74

Hello all, I have arrived in Virginia , USA. It is nice here. Minus that ,
what humans call a mailman, trying to shove me in a mail slot.
I didnt fit and left me no moving room til my new host saved me.
She said that it wasnt her normal mail person so it isnt the norm.
But it is nice here. She has little humans who seemed very happy
to see me also. They have been telling me of places to see and things
to do all afternoon. My new host has a tv that is getting ready to depart
but he was here for my welcoming. His name is JJ. He was there when i
came outta my package.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/pandabr74/TVs%20pictures/Mr%20Grey%20Max/JJwelcomingmax.jpg

He also showed me the safest place to hang out when i am not out
spending time or exporing with my hosts. I am not sure of the reason
for something called a football. JJ said it is a sport but this one is special
it has writing on it. I am still not sure maybe some research later on
humans and thier odd obsessions with things called "sports"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/pandabr74/TVs%20pictures/Mr%20Grey%20Max/MaxandJJ.jpg

Well it is late and i didnt sleep much during my trip. So i am going to
recharge and will update soon.

Virginia, USA - 18th March 2009

By: pandabr74

Today was go,go,go to say the least.
We got up and took one of the little humans somewhere.
When they were inside i got to know the other friends in the
car. They live in there but they are very happy. This is Pandy he guards the truck. I think he does a good job.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/pandabr74/TVs%20pictures/Mr%20Grey%20Max/Meetingcarfriends.jpg

Then there is Hammy who just hangs around in the cupholder. They are alot of fun and they made the waiting in the car pleasant.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/pandabr74/TVs%20pictures/Mr%20Grey%20Max/meetingcarfriends2.jpg

When we were done there we had to go pick up a small human from
a place called, school. So it was fun to hang out in the backseat with the
small human. Well he isnt small he is bigger then my host but she said
says he is her son. But he held me so i could look out the window as we were leaving his school.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/pandabr74/TVs%20pictures/Mr%20Grey%20Max/lookinoutwindow.jpg

But otherwise it was a buy day my host says, but she has plans for us tomorrow.
