Leidschendam, The Netherlands - 4th October 2008

By: Charda

Today we received a box by mail from Germany! Our host has participated in the Random Acts Part 2 challenge. This is what she received:

And look at these pretty flowers she also received today:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/Charda1982/IMG_2401.jpg

This is the book I was leaning on in the first picture. It is such a funny book!
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/Charda1982/IMG_2404.jpg

Even the bookmark matches the book in that it shows pictures from London. This is a quote from the book:

1918: Germany admit they have lost the 'First World War'. Some anxiety over their choice of name.

So funny...the book is full of these lines. I'm gonna continue reading now.

Leidschendam, The Netherlands - 15th October 2008

By: Charda

On my last day here Charda showed me some of her books. This is one of the books she had to  buy while she studied Psychology. I think this is a pretty good likeness with the neuron on the picture, don't you think?
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/Charda1982/IMG_2417.jpg
And these are some of the books I read while I was staying here. Can you tell she's now a student of English?
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/Charda1982/IMG_2422.jpg
And then it was time to leave, at the same time as Hoppity and Resi. I learnt a lot here, but I am very eager to learn more in another country!

La Crosse, WI, USA - 27th October 2008

By: Luv_Lioness

Hi Mom!
I'm now in the USA! It was a long journey! I arrived to windy and cold temperatures (about 4*C!) with some snow flurries!
I am now meeting some other friends... Molly Weird, Digory and Pinkz.
Will write more... right now she's got a cold so she's not up to showing me around but my friends are telling me what they saw.

La Crosse, WI, USA - 31st October 2008

By: Luv_Lioness

Hi Mom!
Today she took me out ... I couldn't join her but she showed me where she voted (since it's been a zoo already in voting at the polls).

We then went to her friends place so I could pose in front of a political sign. His cat didn't know what to think of me!

I then got to see something that got me nervous... something that if I drank a lot of, would deplete me!  :(

We then went out for a light lunch... cheeseburger and a milkshake. The strange cat is a toy she found and decided could join us.

Goose Island County Park, La Crosse, WI, USA - 31st October 2008

By: Luv_Lioness

Since it was a beautiful and warm day out (~20*C) we went to the park and saw some beautiful scenery.

B)

Local wildlife building their dens for the winter. (She thinks they are beavers).

The leaves are a bit past the peak of color but it's still pretty out! Plus we got to see a pretty butterfly!

Will write more later.

La Crosse, WI, USA - 3rd November 2008

By: Luv_Lioness

Started out today by seeing what the area she lives in is called. Interesting and pretty! It was a very nice day out and warm (tied a record for warmth at 75F/23C)!

Grandad's Bluff, La Crosse, WI, USA - 3rd November 2008

By: Luv_Lioness

She showed me also the highest a prettiest point in the area. From this point you can see the tip of Iowa (it's just land), the bluffs of Minnesota and also the "big" city of La Crosse. There was an area that was fenced off so we had to observe the safety sign.

After we left this point, I got to see the sign that welcomed me into the city. The city is named after the game of lacrosse (what the players are doing).

We went to a park since it was nice out. I got to see the local baseball team field (the team is called the La Crosse Loggers, the field is called the Loggerfield) along with an old train.

Last thing that was done was a picnic in the park by the river... she said she'd take me down later and show me more some other time.

Since the weather has been not pretty outside (cloudy and cold), we watched some college football on TV. It was the battle between two colleges (University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin) over the "Paul Bunyon Axe"... just a symbol of a folklore around here.

We watched another winning football game today... with this one I got to see and learn what the "Lambeau Leap" was about (when the person scores a touchdown, they leap into the crowd and celebrate).

Today was a nice and sunny day. Though deceiving since it was also freezing out. We went for a short drive down to the Riverside Park where we had a picnic earlier. I got to see Tecumseh. (She said this was Native lands before). I also got to see what the river turns to... enough to freeze me, yes, that's ice. Final shot is of me seeing the pretty blue bridges that cross over into Minnesota.

Looks like I'll be taking off from here and heading over an ocean! It's been fun here!

:D

London, England - 2nd December 2008

By: Deborah

I certainly received an enthusiastic greeting when I arrived in London. I had barely made it through the door when three other TVs Travel Ted, Galen, and the lovely Pussy Galore all pounded down the stairs to meet me. Travel Ted introduced me to his little brother Pye, who is a giant microbe just like me.

I was a little concerned when I heard that Pye is a enormous flesh-eating disease (he even carries a warning label) but I felt better when I found out that hed reinvented himself as a vegetarian. Hes not a Toy Voyager because people often think hes scary and that has make him dreadfully shy. I thought he was very nice though. He apologised for not having any brain food in the house and suggested that, as there were no real greens, perhaps Id like a chocolate brownie on a healthy-looking plate.

Tonight I met a snowman who was sitting in a shop window. I wonder whether he knows Snegovik?

York, England - 9th December 2008

A flying visit to the ancient city of York yielded a glorious view of the river from the hotel balcony, although an early morning departure made photo opportunities minimal.

Brussels, Belgium - 13th December 2008

By: Deborah

Travel Ted had arranged an exciting surprise for me - a few days away in Belgium. Upon arrival in Brussels we picked up a map and planned our itinerary carefully.
