Guargacho, Tenerife, Spain - 2nd May 2008

By: katjaintenerife

I was born in Alicante and I was sent to my foster mother as a late birthday gift. She received me on the 20th of February and she has now decided to let me see the world, something that has always been my dream! I haven't seen much of Tenerife yet so my mum's told me that I will stay here for a week or so and then I can finally start my journey. I've also got some friends over here; BertieTheDuck and two cats; Felix and Katie. I was hoping to go to Finland with my foster parents but they decided to take BertieTheDuck, but that's fine. I'm sure I will find some great places to go to! Here are some photos of my friends

BertieTheDuck's going to write you tomorrow. We have to go bed now.. Good night everyone!!

Guargacho, Spain - 4th May 2008

By: katjaintenerife

Hi!

I've finally got a bit of a flight sheet for myself:

1) MarionJ, Tallinn, Estonia. Will be leaving to her in the next few days
2) Drakie, Devon, UK. Mid June
3) Kira1997, Australia. Mid July
4) ????
5) Gingermuggins, Australia. After September

At the moment I'm at Katja's work place. She works in a small private clinic as an interpreter and her shifts are 24 hour long so we can't update the photos until tomorrow...

Driving around South of Tenerife, Spain - 5th May 2008

By: katjaintenerife

Hi!

Today we've been just driving around a bit and I've finally seen some more places here in Tenerife, not just my home and Katja's work. Here are some photos

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z274/katjaintenerife/05052008411.jpg
That's us just leaving home

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z274/katjaintenerife/05052008412.jpg
You could actually see Teide, the vulcano, from here but it seems like the camera didn't catch it

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z274/katjaintenerife/05052008414.jpg
I was hoping to use this petrol points card but in the end we didn't go to a petrol station...

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z274/katjaintenerife/05052008415.jpg
I was helping Dave to drive the car :D

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z274/katjaintenerife/05052008419-1.jpg
That's Siam Park on the background, it's a theme park but it's not yet been opened. Sorry that I'm not even looking at the camera!

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z274/katjaintenerife/05052008424.jpg
That's me and some trees on the background

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z274/katjaintenerife/05052008425.jpg
I wasn't too fotogenic today..but at least you can see some palm trees there!

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z274/katjaintenerife/05052008426.jpg
Well at least one photo with a palm tree and me looking at the camera...

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z274/katjaintenerife/05052008428.jpg
That's the sea and Los Cristianos and Las Americas behind me

Tallinn, Estonia - 21st May 2008

By: MarionJ

Tere!

I'm finally here in sunny Tallinn! The trip here wasn't long thankfully :) But the envelope was really small. My host says she has never seen these kind of small special envelopes, so I'm a sensation here in many ways.
After I was picked up from the post office I wasn't taken to my estonian home. We went to have a walk in the Old Town with my host's friend and Woezel.
Here I am with Woezel on a platform from where you can see the Old Town.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/20mai007.jpg
This is on another platform. The view everywhere is very beautiful :)
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/20mai010.jpg
Here we are resting for a bit. The walk was very long and I had a trip behind me also.. These kind of small pigeon statues are all over the Old Town.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/20mai014.jpg
And here I am with my new friend Woezel who has already told me a lot about his adventures and where I should go in Tallinn. So he'll take me everywhere :)
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/20mai018.jpg

Well, good night to everyone! I'm planning to sleep until the afternoon! Hehe  B)

Chester.

Tallinn, Estonia - 26th May 2008

By: MarionJ

Ahoy, my friends and everyone else out there!

My host has been a bit busy lately and I can't see why she couldn't take some time to cool down.  Anyway, she has taken into mind this embroidery-idea. Me and Woezel have been talking about that for a while now and we are a bit concerned. Now that she's finished one piece, she'll start on another, and with that one she has a plan. But we'll keep you updated about that.. :D
Here I am with that embroidery thingie she finished already. It actually is very nice, something japanese.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/25mai006.jpg

Oh, and then we went to check out the national football (or soccer) stadium, the A Le Coq Arena (named after a beercompany that's their biggest sponsor).
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/25mai008.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/25mai019.jpg

Sooo, we have a couple of interesting plans for this week too and I'll keep you posted.

Take care!  :)
Chester

Tartu, Estonia - 25th June 2008

By: MarionJ

Oooohhh!
It has been raining like crazy here. Well, all over Europe almost. They say here that a typical estonian summer contains storms and many rainy days. Well, they finally arrived :)
Has also been quite chaotic and hectic here, my host is organizing some youth camps, and kids seem to be almost impossible to get in touch with. :P
But we had a chance to visit Tartu, the secong biggest city in Estonia. It's a very beautiful city, also a former Hansa-city (in the medieval times). Because of the great university there, Tartu is said to be a city of students. It's a place for culture and intelligence, my host says. :) It's small, but wonderful. Anyone ever in Estonia, you should visit it for sure. The busride tkaes only 2h25min and during the drive you see only forests. Actually, I've heard it's like that all over the country  ;) Forests and some smaller villages-towns here and there. Oh, and the gas stations too, of course.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni003.jpg
The pedestrian bridge near the market (which was closed unfortunately, because it was a national holiday - Midsummer's night)
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni009.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni012.jpg
Then, the river of Emajõgi (Mother's river) that runs through Tartu
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni019.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni025.jpg
This pig stands in front of the old market house, that works still - with Woezel and Veggies
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni020.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni021.jpg
The town square and town hall
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni026.jpg
A famous statue of kissing students (of course, who else?)
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni033.jpg
A wierd crooked house. Although inside it's level with the street, thankfully
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni030.jpg
Oh, and the famous University of Tartu
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni036.jpg
Last, but not least - the theatre of Vanemuine. Theatre is very important and popular in Estonia
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni042.jpg

Ok, so this was me (with Woezel and Veggies) in Tartu. Will be visiting something else, hopefully. And then off to Devon!

Cheers!
Chesterrr

Paunküla, Estonia - 28th June 2008

By: MarionJ

Oh, well. As you're reading this, I'm no longer on the grounds of Estonia. :)
But at the end of June I had the chance to visit another place. At first my host thought Paunküla (ü- for finnish it's "y", and to others - like "über" in german :P) is in the south of Estonia, but then realised that it's not very far from Tallinn, hehe. But beautiful, none the less. There was a three-day event for youth centers all across Estonia. Every center had sent some youngsters and youthworkers. They had different activities there, different sports, games, competitions and stuff. Also many workshops, like a mosaic-making one we attended. Also a circus workshop where you could learn to ride a monocycle (or what's the word for it) and make baloon animals.
Here are some pictures we managed to take..

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/28juuni006.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/28juuni010.jpg
A little sunbathing..
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/28juuni012.jpg
I was tired after a day of all those games and competitions
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/28juuni018.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/28juuni011.jpg
Some performances and a small concert
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/28juuni022.jpg
On the way back to Tallinn with a friend I like to call Puddle, hehe  B)
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/28juuni032.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/28juuni034.jpg

Well, that was it. Goodbye from here and toodles!
Ch.

Honiton, UK - 9th July 2008

By: drakie

Well here I am in Honiton in Devon.  Lots of green fields and we are only 15 mins from the sea, I guess its like being at home in Tenerife, one big difference, its usually raining here ha ha ha.... and cold, and misty... oh well.

Well I have met Miss E, well actually the cheek of the girl she boldly sat on my back and stayed there, I must also say she tends to hog the camera a bit, I try to get in then her face appears.  Well I will just have to give her a push.
