I met this abandoned toy bird. So sad, to sit there all the time, alone.

's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands - 24th May 2008
By: Jiles
Olá, it's time for a new update because I have been out for a day. On Saturday, we visited 's-Hertogenbosch. It's in the South of The Netherlands and it's the capital of the province 'Noord-Brabant.
Here I am in front of the oldest remaining brick house in The Netherlands, it was built at the beginning of the 13th century. The name of the house is 'De Moriaan'.
It was quite a long time travelling to get in 's-Hertogenbosch and I was thirsty and hungry. My watch said it's lunchtime!
I ordered a big glass of sparkling mineral water with a slice of lemon.
And a wrap filled with beef and vegetables.
We had our lunch in a small restaurant in a street with many restaurants. Here you can see a small part of the street.
After lunch we arrived at the Sint-Janskathedraal or St. John's Cathedral, the cathedral serves for the bishopric of 's-Hertogenbosch.
The Sint-Janskathedraal was originally constructed as a church (1220-1340) but is a cathedral since 1559. More recently, the cathedral received the honorary title of basilica.
We also saw this horse tram.
Right behind the cathedral is a lovely square, here is one of the houses at the square.
Hmm... I'm in The Netherlands, right?
Hidden below the old city is a canal network called the Binnendieze. Hmm.. I like to swim!
No! Better not swim here! The Binnendieze has been used as a sewer system! Although there is a modern system nowadays, I don't like the idea!
These people are going to do a canal 'cruise', a guided tour on small boats, on the Binnendieze.
A typical Dutch street, I have seen similar streets in Middelburg and Goes!
You could aready see this bird on the previous photo, I went closer because he looked so cute! The signs says:"De blauwe vogel". This means:"The blue bird". My Dutch is getting better!
This wooden shoe is definitely too big for my feet! I took advantage of that and used the wooden shoe as a chair!
We left the old part of the city to visit relatives. They live near the Central Station, we had to cross the station to get to their house. We didn't go down the escalator.
I'm on a small balcony, the houses behind me are similar to the house where the relatives live. They have a special shape! Like a sailing boat!
Hmm.... someone just explained me that I'm right. The name of the complex is "Armada", from the Spanish Armada!
Can I have a swim now? No! Caught again!
Ok.. I'll sit here on the border for a while, together with these birds.
Or this snail.....
Hmm.. Or I take a flight on this plane!!
No, I'll have an aperitif!

Goes, Netherlands - 30th May 2008
By: Jiles
Hello, here is Miss E again!
Unfortunately, this week the weather hasn't been really good! They say this is typical Dutch weather and everyone here was so happy about the Portuguese weather I brought in!
I showed Auggie around, now he has seen some places in Goes.
Here is me with Auggie, in the background you can see an old bridge, made of stone. The bridge is part of the historical fortifications and long time ago there was a city gate at this place. The name of the gate was the Ganzepoort or Geese's gate in English!
Remember the church in one of my previous travelog updates? On that day, I couldn't look inside because it was closed. But this time, we could!
I also showed him the market place.
When we arrived, there was a wedding in the town hall. Unfortunately, we didn't see the happy couple but we saw their amazing car! I told Auggie about the old cars I saw here some weeks ago!
When we came home, I showed him my photos.
