It's a busy Sunday morning, because Petra has to prepare the batter for many many buttermilk waffles.
Each year they celebrate a feast at their church. It is the feast of the patrons St.Damian and Hugo. Since many years it is tradition for the family club, in which Petra and her family are members, to bake and sell waffles. Each family brings batter for about 70 waffles.
This morning we helped her to get ready with everything, before she had to run to the parish hall, where they always sell the waffles in a tent. We asked, whether we could join her, but this time she had to say no

Rülzheim, Germany - 11th October 2008

This morning Petra's family receive a call from the ostrich farm, which we visited during their summer holidays. Petra had asked to call her, if they have an ostrich egg for her family.
So we headed to Rülzheim and while Ralf bought the egg Petra took us out of the rucksack and showed us the ostriches. I can tell you, it is a really big farm with many many ostriches.

Baltimore, Maryland, USA - 13th February 2009
By: SenoraVetinari
Hey everyone! I traveled from the midwest to the east coast and have landed in Baltimore, Maryland, with my new host Ashe! I couldn't have come at a better time, since the next day, she was going to visit her best girlfriend Kris in North Carolina.
I helped Ashe pack.
She's really silly, look at all those bags for just a few days! I got to travel in her purse, though.
We had a lot of fun on the train, I slept a bit while Ashe read her textbooks for school. But we got a photo in:
The trip wasn't for anything exciting, Ashe said, it was just so she could hang out with her North Carolina friends! We ran to get groceries so we could cook dinner for them. Here I am in Kris' car:
The dry flowers behind me were from her wedding in October. It was sweet that she kept them!
We also worked on Kris' scrapbook with pictures from her wedding. Here I am helping her:
But on Wednesday, we had to say goodbye. Here I am posing with Kris. You can see her husband Jon's arm around her, but he didn't want to be in the photo:
I had so much fun! I was sad to leave. But I know there's more adventures left for me in Baltimore.
Love,
Princess Sarah

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! I don't think there's a better place to celebrate this holiday than in New Jersey and New York City.
I had a lot of fun. Wow, people in America, especially my hosts, really go crazy on St. Patrick's Day.
Anyway, here I am in the evening, at the start of our feast of corned beef, cabbage, and lots and lots of Guinness beer. I feel great... (hiccup) ... and for some reason I feel like singing...

Statue of Liberty, USA - 17th March 2009
By: wepesq
My hosts took me to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
Of course, you know the Statue of Liberty. It's very famous. But my hosts, who live in New Jersey, shared with me a little known fact: Liberty Island, where the statue stands, is actually in the territorial waters of New Jersey, not New York.
Ellis Island, just a few hundred meters away, is also very famous. I was happy to visit here and to learn about this great place. Millions and millions of immigrants first arrived here with their dreams for a better future. They made this country great.
Here I am, approaching Liberty Island by ferry...

Here I am on the Hudson River. Behind me, you can see the southern tip of Manhattan. It's the Financial District. Just above my head is where the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center proudly stood, until that tragic day of 9-11-2001.
