FiremanJoBob is excited to get his travels going.  Here in Oregon he started his journey by visiting a couple of fire stations.

We hope that whoever finds FiremanJoBob can take him all over the US or pass him along from friend to friend so that FiremanJoBob can learn more about fire prevention in your state.

Today FiremanJoBob was handed off to this very friendly lady at front desk at the Veneta Fire District Department Headquarters.

We explained his missions and what he would like to do for the rest of his life and we do hope we get to hear from him soon.

I traveled with my friend Heather to St. Johns, USVI.

I also traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico to visit El Morro, a fort at the bay entrance to the city.

This time I am checking the Dublin Central Fire Station in Ireland. The firefighters here were really awesome, and they show me all their cool trucks. In the pictures you will see me with a couple of them, both called Paul, and with my travel partner Mara .

In this occasion Mara and I went to visit one of the Fire Stations in Madrid, Spain. The Fire department here was incredible, they gave us a full tour of their station, and they even invited us to have lunch with them . Mara an I had lots of fun hanging out with these awesome guys.

My firefighter friends at Lane County Fire District #1 hosted a Fire Prevention Week event a week before the actual national observance. They hosted an open house at six of the eleven stations in their fire district, sharing prevention and education materials and meeting the public in a more relaxed environment. They invited some of their friends to visit as well, including REACH Air Ambulance, Lane Rural Fire/Rescue, Lane County Sherriff's Office, the Oregon Department of Forestry, the Oregon Department of Transportation and Dispatchers from Central Lane 9-1-1. I got to climb the 105' Aerial Ladder (sorry, no picture) and fly in the helicopter from Veneta to Walton, then landing at Corvallis. It was awesome!

On Thursday, October 7, 2010 my firefighter friends from Lane County Fire District #1 and I visited the pre-school class at Central Little School. We shared information on what the kiddos should do if they hear a smoke alarm and how it works, and what it means to have an emergency when they should call 9-1-1. One firefighter showed the students what his special firefighter clothes look like, and let them shake hands and give him high-fives. He then showed the students what he would look and sound like if he was looking for them in a fire, and the students followed him by crawling low until they found a door to get outside. The kids did a great job!

During Fire Prevention Week, my firefighter friends at Lane County Fire District #1 helped a local high school celebrate Homecoming by leading a parade through Veneta to the high school. We also attended the football game and educated students and parents alike on fire prevention. And the Falcons won!
