Travelog for: Ballet Cindy

Farmington, NM, USA - 13th August 2007

By: wourpet

It was with great anticipation that Rosa and the other toys all gathered around to see who had arrived.  They didn't want to wait long since the box had been in the parcel compartment at the corner in the hot sun.

They were very excited to meet Ballet Cindy and also her traveling companion Holiday Harry.

Humphrey was the most excited of all when he discovered Ballet Cindy was another bear -- and a very pretty bear.

When my host discovered I really liked pretty flowers she took me for a walk in the garden.  First she took my heavy sweater off because she said she was worried I would get sick in the heat.  It was 104 degrees F (40 C). There were so MANY flowers.
There were Cosmos...
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_1666.jpg
and a Butterfly Bush..
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_1667.jpg
although I was a little disappointed when my host explained that it didn't grow butterlies.
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_1668.jpg
There were potted flowers...
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_1671.jpg
and little petunias...
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_1670.jpg
and big petunias...

and roses.

The rose garden was very pretty and I got to smell lots of roses.  And guess what?  While I was talking to my host as we walked around the rose garden I learned that her name is also Wendy.  She said she was going to take pictures of me to send to Wendy and she would help me write a note to send along.  I hope you get it soon.
These are more pictures from our walk in the rose garden.

Wow I am so excited.  Today my host took me shopping and it was a store full of lots and lots of materials and fabrics.  I could almost get lost in the bundles of pinks.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_1678.jpg

Then Wourpet told me she was going to make me a ballet costume and she let me pick out some fabric.  I was just so excited and got some very pretty pink with little colored sparkles all over it.  It is going to be so pretty.  Do you like it?  I can hardly wait.

Today was a very exciting day.  Wourpet hasn't started my new ballet costume yet but she DID make me some ballet slippers.  They have long ribbons for around my legs and everything.  I think they are so perfect.  What do you think?
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_1715.jpg

Of course when I first put them my feet just wanted to start dancing and I wasn't quite prepared.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_1719.jpg

but it did give me some practice and I am becoming more confident even if I did most of the dancing wrong side up.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_1717.jpg

and I think I will learn to be a great ballerina someday.

Ouray, Colorado, USA - 21st August 2007

By: wourpet

We went through the little town of Ouray.  It is called the Switzerland of America on the signs.  Wourpet told me and Rosa it is pronounced you-ray.  Ouray is nestled at the bottom of a very high mountain called red mountain.  It has lots of victorian buildings and also has a hot springs.
There were lots of little shops along the streets but we didn't get to go shopping.

Before we got to Ouray we travelled through 2 mountain passes. One was the Red Mountain Pass and one was the Coal Banks pass.  We also went through the towns of Durango and Silverton.
One place we stopped was up at the summit of Molas Pass  We were at 10,910 feet (or about 3325 meters) and the air is supposed to be the cleanest in all of the USA.  As we were going back down the mountain we drove past Molas Lake.
Then we ate at Montrose and drove on to Grand Junction.

We got to see the dinosaurs and I am really glad most were inside the fence.

After we visited the dinosaurs today Rosa and I got to go shopping.  The streets are very pretty with lots of flowers.
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_1765.jpg

The most exciting part was a little shop we went into and I met a whole lot of bears.  We talked for awhile and some of them told me they had only just arrived and didn't know much about the place but a couple of them said they had been there a very long time.  I suggested they should become toy voyagers.

I have met a lot of other bears on this trip.

Sorry about not reporting in but we have really been relaxing and enjoying ourselves.  While wourpet has been out house shopping or whatever it is she is busy at Rosa and I have been having a wonderful time at the Holiday Inn.  Our room is next to the holidome and when we make it through the patio doors we find ourselves in a wonderful world of plants, games, pools and spas.
We really have been kicking back and enjoying this but will update you more on some of our other activities over the past week soon.

We have had a great time at the Holiday Inn  and have also gone out on a drive occasionally.
We have seen the Colorado National Monument but didn't get any pictures with it yet.
In our room we have been visited each day by some nice ladies that clean it all up.  They propped us up with the pillows so we could watch TV one afternoon and another day they talked about all the paintings and left us to carefully study a large watercolor on the wall.
The hot tub has been our favorite spot and we spend almost every evening there but we also hang out at the outside pool and courtyard too.

We're tired and weary and back in Farmington.  The mountains we drove through on the way to Grand Junction looked very different on the way back.  The mountain called Red Mountain really was red.  There is a ghost town there called Red Mountain.
