Travelog for: Henry the Adventure Hound

The giant pumpkins were a great adventure for Henry for the day.  It is something he might never see again.
Everyone had fun!

Henry had the best of travels throughout Oregon.
Now it is time to say goodbye and he must venture on to see the world.

Henry reflects on the good times in Oregon and the new friends he has met.
One day perhaps,  he will return.

Henry was on his way today to his next host in Florida to visit Carlissa.  I am sure he will find many great things to do there. 

I have arrived in Miami, Florida!  I had a pleasant trip, but it sure is nice to be out of my traveling box!  Wow, this place is a real zoo!  My new host told me that there are several animals living with her, but first she wanted me to meet a Monster and see the lake.  So we went upstairs to the balcony.

Then I got to meet Monster!  I was relieved to find out that Monster was one of the cats living here!

Carlissa took me to visit her daughter's horse at Emerald Acres!



I met Lucky and he wanted to eat me!  I told him that I wasn't a carrot and I didn't taste very good!  After that, we became good friends.  We didn't have time for a ride, but Carlissa said maybe we will come back another time.

I had a nice time today chatting with some bears, gingerbread people, and 3 other Toy Voyagers!  Minerva,  Mumble, and Prince Charming are here!  I told them all about my adventures and they told me about their adventures.  Some of the bears thought that my adventures sounded exciting and they wanted to become Toy Voyagers, too!

I had an exciting day today!  My host took me to Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden this morning. 

First, we went to see Marjory Stoneman Douglas (she wrote a book about the Everglades).


Then I went for a ride on a flamingo!


Off to the rain forest and I found this cool mushroom log.  My host warned me not to eat them because they may be poisonous.


After the rain forest, we went to the butterfly garden and saw lots of beautiful butterflies like this one:


We walked around some more and found a lake that had turtles in it:



Before we left, I wanted to climb a tree, so Carlissa helped me up into this tree:

This morning I helped Carlissa bake some pumpkin bread!



This afternoon we went to Emerald Acres again.  First, I chatted with some of the barn dogs (Tigger, Scooby and Ears) and I told them that I was going to ride a horse today!  Tigger let me practice riding on him first since he was a little smaller than Lucky the horse.  Then we went to see Lucky.  Since I am so small, I wasn't able to handle the reins, so Carlissa's daughter put the lead line on Lucky and I got to ride bare back! 



Wow, what a day I've had today!

We left Miami yesterday and drove 370 miles north to Gainesville, Florida to visit Carlissa's family for Thanksgiving.  The weather was nice and we had a pleasant drive.  We arrived at Carlissa's parent's house at about 9pm last night.  We were all tired from the drive, so we went to bed early.  Today is Thanksgiving, so Carlissa is busy making a big dinner for her parents, brother, niece and her daughters.  It was nice meeting her family and having dinner with them!

This morning we got up early and went for a walk.  Carlissa's parents and brother live  out in the woods and it's very pretty.  First, we went to see some horses that belong to Carlissa's brother (he lives next door).

After visiting the horses, we went to see some cows:


Then, back to the house for a little rest.  After we rested, we made a picnic lunch and we went to see Devil's Millhopper Geological State Park.  Devil's Millhopper is a very big sinkhole and we had to walk down many steps to get to the bottom.  There is a legend that the devil kidnapped an Indian princess and the Indians were very sad so they went after the devil to get her back.  The devil created the sinkhole to trap the Indians so he could escape with the princess.

We came back up the steps and walked around the sinkhole.  I read a sign that explains how Devil's Millhopper got its name.

Then we left to go visit San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park.  There are several walking trails in the park.




We were too tired to walk on this trail, so we went back to Carlissa's parent's house.

We drove back to Miami yesterday.  Today, Me To You (another Toy Voyager) arrived from Russia!  Prince Charming and I had a nice time chatting with him.  Me To You is the one on the right.

This morning Carlissa told me that she would take us (Prince Charming, Me To You, and me) to the beach today!  She and her daughter had some errands to run in the morning, so we chatted quietly in the back seat while they released some Bookcrossing books around town.  Then we stopped for lunch at Wendy's.  After lunch, Carlissa took her daughter home, and we went to Matheson Hammock County Park. 

We were all thirsty after all the talking we did in the car, so we shared a cup of bo bo tea:


After we finished our tea, we went to see the lake:


And we saw a big lizard while we were at the lake!


Finally, I asked Carlissa, "Well, where's the beach?"  She told me not to worry, we will go there next!  And that is just what we did!

Today, we went downtown to a book sale at the library.  While Carlissa and her daughter browsed the books for sale, Me To You and I played together and we saw a very cool picture that was on the art museum which is next to the library.



After that, we went to have lunch.  When lunch was over, we went for a drive through Coral Gables where we found a sculpture of some very large shoes in the middle of Cartegena Circle.  The shoes must have been for a giant!

I told my host that I am a fan of Indiana Jones and she told me that she is too!  So after dinner, we watched Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Today we got up very early and went to the horse show at Tropical Park.  We got there about 5 am.  When we got there, we found out that 4 horses had escaped from their stalls and were wandering around!  We had to call the show manager's daughter to let her know that the horses were loose.  When she got there, I helped to round up the horses and get them back into their stalls.  Such excitement so early in the morning, and the show hasn't even started yet! 

After that, Carlissa's daughter had to get her horse ready for the grooming class, so I went to check out the tractor.


After that, I joined Me To You at the arena to see the riders warming up.
