Fuxing Lu , Beijing, China - 28th January 2015
By: goomymia
Xia wu hao my lovely friends,
It's me your old friend Dolly. Do you enjoy going out for a walk after meal? I can always see people take walks after dinner in the community which I'm staying at. Today I went out for a walk after a late lunch. Believe me, we've never eaten a single lunch on time since the beginning of Mia's witer holiday. Oh my god sheep, she is too lazy to cook for us. Ok ok...in the photos below you can see an office building which is quite tall, if you get off the Wanshou Lu subway station via exit C, you'll definitely see it. And then is the crossroads of Wanshou Lu and Fuxing Lu. Fuxing Lu is the west part of Changan Ave, means if you drive through Fuxing Lu to the east, you will see Fuxingmen,Xidan and then the Tiananmen Square. Much further you will pass through Wangfujing, Dongdan finally get to Guomao. You know the highest building is standing there.
Love
Dolly

370, Beijing, China - 1st February 2015
By: goomymia
Morning my dear Papa and Mama,
How are you? How's the weather in South Carolina? Is there any snow in the mountain? It's a little bit cloudy in Beijing today, currently -7c, the high temperature will be 4c, still no sign of any snowflake. I'm so looking forward to a heavy snow, because I've heard that Beijing will looks like a town in ancient time after snowing, it will be fantastic! Anyhoo we decided to go somewhere by bus. Haha I guess you already found that there is a new friend coming with us. His name is Simão III, an orangutan. Yes you got it, there are Simão I Mia's primary school classmate, Simão II Mia's dog and even Simão IV who is also an orangutan living with his nan right now. Simão III told me his brother Simão IV must be very eager to go traveling if he knows toyvoyagers. Hope to meet him!
Tons of love
Your little Dolly

Golden-fish Pond, Bada Chu, Beijing, China - 1st February 2015
By: goomymia
Dear friends,
You know I came to Badachu Park. I saw a huge statue when I was walking through the red wooden gate. Mia said that smiling man is Maitreya Buddha, he looks really happy, I wish I can be happy like him everyday. And then I arrived at the Golden-fish Pond but the lake's frozen, I actually can't see any fish. It must be more beautiful here in spring. When we came to a long bridge. I saw some gaint footprints on the bridge which are decorated by unique symbols. They are some buddhist characters I guess.
Moving on
Dolly

The Relic Stupa, Beijing, China - 1st February 2015
By: goomymia
Hi my lovely friends,
Did you see the tower in first photo? That is a Relic Stupa, which holds Buddha's relic. I guess it must be a very holy building, although I don't know much about Buddha. Ummmm..it seems that the photo I took is not clear. Don't worry I will definitely come closer to have a look at the tower. Oh yes when we passed through the long bridge, I noticed there were so many white spots down there then I relized they were all goats! You know sheep year is comming, so there are many decorations about sheep...okay or goat in the park. The last photo is a big Chinese character 'Chun', which means spring. Haha I just can't wait the Spring Festival!
Lots of love
Dolly

The Hall of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Beijing, China - 1st February 2015
By: goomymia
My dear friends,
I guess God blesses this holy land, you see the light we are bathing? Haha Here we arrived at the hall of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, how long the name is. We decided to collect some info about him online after we come back home. The third photo is a statue of the god of longevity who always goes to celebrate people's birthday, sounds a bit like Santa and Chritsmas. Look the god of longevity is holding a big peach, that might be the birthday present. Did you see the animals on the green roof ? They are very common decoration for traditional architectures, but I feel that it's not that simple, they could have some functions.
We will see

24 Filial Piety Relief, Beijing, China - 1st February 2015
By: goomymia
Dear Papa,
We are still wandering around the Badachu Park. You know it's a buddhist site so we can find many beautiful sculptures about Buddha here. More than that, there is a wall with full of exquisite relief on it, it's a kind of sculpture. I want to say it's amazing! Believe me the relief is much more beautiful than they looks in the photo we took, and they tell Twenty-four Paragons of Filial Piety which is a classic text of Confucian filial piety written by Guo Jujing during the Yuan dynasty. Did you see the buffalos behind us? I seems to have seen them wagging their tails!
Love and kisses

the hall of god of wealth, Beijing, China - 1st February 2015
By: goomymia
Hello my lovey friends,
Do you know the Chinese god of wealth? Not Plutus, he is a Greek god. I was standing in front of the hall of god of wealth. I didn't go inside because I'm not that keen on money. I actually hope they have the hall of god of sheep here. And then I saw a giant stone dragon coiled around a tree. Different from our dragon, dragons in China have no wings but they can fly, ummmm... I'm not sure if they also lay eggs or not. According to the old legend there are 4 gods of dragon live in the sea. You see they even have god of dragon, I can hardly believe there is no god of sheep.
All the best
Dolly

family hall for worshipping Buddha, Beijing, China - 1st February 2015
By: goomymia
Now we arrived at a family hall for worshipping Buddha.
The sign on the wall indicates that we can't go inside without invitation.
Never mind, here we got many ice-sugar gourds.
They are a kind of snack made of fruits like hawthorns, sometimes even strawberries.
