Zoetermeer, Netherlands - 24th April 2014
By: Emjay
Zoetermeer used to be a small village. In the seventies, eighties and nineties it grew immensely. A lot of ugly flats were built. But nowadays builders realize a green surrounding is very important.

This is the theatre of Zoetermeer. We went to see a concert here. It was great! A group called the Andersons sang Dutch and Swedish songs. Here you can see a little impression:

I hope you enjoy their songs too.

We went to the highest level of the building where Emjay's mother-in-law lives. From that point we had a view on the park where we had been.
Tomorrow will be an important day in the Netherlands! Wait and see!
Bye, Galiya apa!

Hi Galiya apa!
King Willem Alexander celebrates his birthday today! As orange is the national colour, everything in the Netherlands turns orange. Emjay has painted her nails, we get orange scarves and we even eat orange cakes!

Oof, that cake was a bit too much! To walk my big belly off, we went to the city center on foot. Everything is nicely decorated.
Can you see the portrait of the King behind me? It's made of crochet patches!

To escape the hustle and bustle we visit a quiet place: Hofje van Pauw. Hofje is the Dutch word for a courtyard surrounded by almshouses.

This lady is Elisabeth Pauw. She was the founder of Hofje van Pauw. "Pauw" means "peacock" by the way.
