Udon restaurant, Takamatsu, Japan - 3rd May 2014

By: hanachan

Udon is a kind of wheat flour noodle.
It's eaten everywhere in Japan and there are many variations in each region.
Especially Kagawa prefecture where Takamatsu is its capital city is famous for Udon.
They often eat Udon both at home and at Udon-restaurant.
It's also very popular fast-food.
I'll try one ;)

Carp Streamers in the Spring Wind
At the Childrens Day on May 5th,
Carp Streamers known as "Koinobori" are put up to celebrate the boys,
who are supposed to grow as strong as the carps that can swim upstreams.
They says that its origin is ancient tales in China. (wow!) :o
Only the carp which could climb up the waterfalls became dragon.

The holiday is on May 5th, but the streamers are put up long before that.
We can see them hung are from large poles at homes where boys live,
or in long lines across the river like this.
