Vienna, Austria - 29th March 2013

But that wasn't even it!
We also made a blown out egg, which we will put on the pussy willow
In order to do so, you have to push a spear right through the egg- you need holes on two sides of the egg. Then you have to blow into the egg on one side, so what is in the egg will be pushed out of it on the other side.
This might be a little disgusting, but you can paint the shee of the egg afterwards and keep it forever (as long as it doesn't break)
I will show you the finished egg, once we have put it on the pussy willow.

Schönbrunn, Austria - 1st April 2013
By: Mausbären
Hello!
Today we visited Schönbrunn Palace, and walked in the gardens surrounding it.
The gardens are decorated with a huge amount of statues, and fountains, all in a Roman style.
The first famous sight we swa was the Obelisk fountain. The Obelisk itself stands on 4 turtles and is so high, I wouldn't really want to climb it- even though you would have a wonderful view from up above Basically the Obelisk represents a stable government, which was of course very important, even in former times.
Second, we saw the Roman Ruin, which was basically only built as a nice garden feature - and really looks impressive. The two figures you can make out in the picture represent the Danube river and the river Enns, as they are the goddesses of these rivers.
Another famous fountain in the Gardens is the Neptune fountain. The god Neptune was an often used symbol for monarchs controlling the destiny of their nations.
Right behind the Neptune fountain is the Gloriette, which nowadays mainly functions as a viewing point. However, in former times, the emperor had his breakfast in there
Right opposite the Neptune fountain is Schönbrunn Palace, which was originally intended to be pink, not yellow. The wrong colour was ordered, and only halfway though painting the castle, the mistake was discovered, which was already too late- well I also like it in yellow
In front of the palace there is a small Easter market, where they had a really large Easter egg
I really enjoyed Schönbrunn Palace!

Wiener Neustadt, Austria - 24th April 2013
By: Mausbären
Today we did something very cool.
First we drove to Wiener Neustadt, a small city near Vienna, and then had a look at map. We had to look for a way from Wiener Neustadt to Niederöblarn, in Styria. - so I guessed that we were going to travel there
When hostmum told me that we were only going to be there for a short while- I was surprised, because it seemed to be quite far away on the map.
But when we went to another room, I knew how it would be possible- and it was going to be soooo cool

Vienna, Austria - 5th May 2013
By: Mausbären
Today we wanted to cook something ourselves- it was really hard to find something we all wanted- in the end we decided to do some wraps.
I cut the meat and some garlic, while the others got a chili and a bowl ( to mix the meat and seasoning together). We then had to fry the stuff, and then put them together into the wrap- it was really easy to do and soooooooo yummy

Vienna, Austria - 17th May 2013
By: Mausbären
Hi there!
Since I enjoyed flying so much- and it's rather windy in Austria, I wanted to build a skite. So I could make good use of the wind, and do some flying again (though it might be in a different way)
the others decided that this was indeed a good idea, and joined me
We all did a different design, according to what we would like most. I wanted to do a girly, princess like skite, which was all sparkly- I think it turned out quite beautiful
I also liked the other skites very much!

Vienna, Stephansdom, Austria - 23rd May 2013
By: Mausbären
Today we went to St. Stephen's cathedral, which is Austria's largest church (you will even be able to see its outline in St. Peter's Basilica). It is also quite old, as it was build in 1137 (well in fact it was build during a very long period of time- in fact it took so lang that the style of the church went out of fashion and therefore never was completed)
There is also a legend about why it was never completed. It goes like this:
A young man, an architect, was in love with the daughter of the man in charge of building the cathedral. He was against the marriage of his daughter to the young man, so he set him task, which he thought impossible to fulfill. He was to complete the building of the second tower. Desperate, the architect made a pact with the devil, saying that while the tower was being build he was not allowed to speak the name of one of the saints. If he did, his sould would belong to the devil. At first all went really well. The tower was nearly completed when the young man, standing on top of the tower, called the name of his love, who was standing in front of the church, in greeting. Then he fell off the tower. His love's name was Maria.
From that day on finishing the tower was considered unlucky.
Today there was even a little fair in front of the cathedral. We also happened to go past a Vienniese Heuriger, which was well visited by lots of toys.

Bangkok, Thailand - 3rd June 2013
By: Mausbären
Hi there!
Guess what? I've been to Bangkok!!!!!
We went there for only a very short time, so unfortunately there will only be one entry about this, but it was unforgettable!
In Bangkok, you will see lots of spirit houses. These are houses build for the ghosts who lived in your house. In order to keep them happy, and to make them protect you and your family, you give them little things, like flowers, and drinks. I thought this was very interesting, that's why I wanted a picture with them.
Another thing about Thailand is, that people like to eat the whole day long. This is quite understandable, as the food is soooo yummy. Most of it is made in little stand right on the street =)
We also went to the Golden Mount, which is a temple, located on top of a hill. The whole location looks similar to a bell, which is a lucky symbol in Thailand. Furthermore, even though to get up there is very exhausting, you can enjoy a wonderful view from up there.
The temple is surrounded by statues of animals, which represent the thai zodiac signs.
In the temple, there are many buddhas. Some are being covered with gold by the people praying. This is done because they believe that giving gold to buddhas now, will bring them money in their next life.
Even though it was for such a short time, I thought my trip to Bagkok was very interesting. I hope you enjoyed it too

Langenlois, Austria - 3rd July 2013
By: Mausbären
Today we were at a vineyard, called Loisium, in Langenlois.
There we met Fridolin the winemouse, who told us all about the cellars, and the vineyard. In fact we could only take a look at one of the vineyards, which really looked beautiful, but wasn't very old. Well, it was older than 5 years, because that is how long it takes for vine to carry fruit which we can make wine from.
Then we went to the buidling from which we entered into the cellars- the building is painted all over with symbols which tell the story of how wine came to Europe
