On our way today we passed through Bendigo - this was an old gold mining town now it is a city

Hey Mum,

Today I achieved a life mission - I have seen a river!!  This river is the Murray River - it flows from the Snowy Mountains to Adelaide.



We are in Echuca which is on the Victorian side of the river - once we go over the bridge we are in new South Wales.

We stopped on the road side to look at these signs - one tells us about an earthquake that happened here, the other about the Long Paddock.
The Long Paddock refers to the area on the side of the road , where many years ago farmers were allowed to bring their cattle to the road sides to feed


The Long paddock was used in times of drought.

Hi Mum,

We are here in Narrandera for the night, we have had a short walk around and passed the Council Offices

then we found a memorial to the men who were based near here in WW2 and learned to fly in the Tiger Moth airplanes

Hi Mum,

Today we are driving to Coonabarrabran...about 500kms!!

this is how our day started, but it slowly got better

Hi Mum,
Here we are in Coonabarrabran - smallish country town in New South Wales

We had a walk down the street

and found another river!! Yay!! 


Not very big but still a river!!

Hi Mum,

Today we stopped for a photo at the Golden Guitar centre at Tamworth - the golden guitars are presented at Tamworth each year for people who play country music.

On the way today we had bad weather but saw lots of streams, creeks and rivers




there has been a lot of rain here so the creeks are running fast today

Hi Mum,
Today we walked to the next beach - Woolgoolga! And guess what???? Today I realised I have achieved another LIFE MISSION When we go to the beach here, the water we are looking at is the Pacific Ocean!!! So I have seen an OCEAN!!!  YAY!!!!


we crossed this creek on the way to the beach, it is a bit flooded from all the rain

coming out at the beach......behind me is the OCEAN!!

Hi Mum,

It is a nice day today, supposed to be 21 degrees C. We are heading off for a walk along the beach

we are at Safety Beach looking along the beach to Woolgoolga, we are going to walk the opposite direction


we found an interesting tree growing in the sand


we have come to the end of the beach

so we sat for a while before heading back.

in the afternoon we went to Woolgoolga Heads to look for whales - they are supposed to be swimming past at this time of the year but sadly we didn't see any.

Hi Mum,

Off to the beach again this morning

we found the bones of an old ship buried in the sand

and some unusual sand balls made by some kind of sea creature??

Hey Mum,
This afternoon we have driven down the coast to Coff's Harbour - we went out on the headland to try and spot a whale, but we had no luck!

On the way home we stopped at a local tourist attraction - the Big Banana and had a photo with the Big Banana!! 


How is this for a bunch of bananas Mum??

Hi Mum,,
Today we had a walk through the bush next to the estuary

we passed lots of bats - we think fruit bats - hanging in the trees

there were hundreds of them!!

Hi Mum,

Our walk today took us past the golf course

over the bridge

this is another river to add to my sightings Mum!!

and now we are following the track down to the beach

but first a photo from the headland

and here we are on the beach - probably my last look at the Pacific Ocean for a while Mum

Back at the bungalows we went through the back gate and said hello to the kangaroos

they were just hanging around enjoying the sunshine.
