Schmiding - Upper Austria, Austria - 15th August 2012
By: Grinsekatze
Hi!
Today I was with Melek and Mr.Yellow in a great zoo in Schmiding in Upper Austria. It was so great!
I`ve seen giraffe, antelope, zebra, rhino, red panda, gorilla, fishes, crocodile, and many more animals.
Look at the pictures. I was so brave. I was not afraid to get a picture with the crocodile, but it was nice as Mr.Yellow and Melek were with me.
The big fishes wanted to eat Mr.Yellow and me - fortunately was a big glas pane between of us!
If also seen a "Mönchsgeier" so great!!!
Like to go there again. But it`s a little far away from our home.

Zoo Schönbrunn - Vienna, Austria - 9th September 2012
By: Grinsekatze
Today I visit with my mum Grinsekatze and many friends:Carolin +Daisy Orange + Kara + Kathy + Melek + Taja the world oldes Zoo in Schönbrunn.
Here you can read about it:
The World´s Oldest Zoo
Part of the imperial summer residence of Schönbrunn, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the world's oldest zoo is indeed an unforgettable experience, and one that no visitor to Vienna should miss. Along with the historic complexes of the former "menagerie" of Emperor Francis Stephen of Lorraine, visitors discover what is perhaps the world's most beautiful zoo in a unique setting where culture and nature blend. More than 500 animal species, some of them threatened, have found a home here and a chance for survival as a species.
From A as in anteater to Z as in zebra: A visit to the Schönbrunn Zoo is a tour through every continent in the fascinating world of animals. See giant pandas, Siberian tigers, orangutans, and elephants, or immerse yourself in the Amazon and experience the tropical rain forest. A visit to the zoo offers young and old alike an enjoyable vacation in an incomparable setting and interesting insights into our nature and species conservation work.
Modern zoos such as the Schönbrunn Zoo have become educational centers; they are showcases for teaching and research, and valuable partners for many nature and species conservation projects. Not only are the knowledge and experience of zoologists, veterinarians, and keepers available for such projects, but so are the threatened animal species that have been carefully bred in the scope of the international zoo network. With your admission fee, and more especially through your interest in the animals and the work of the zoo, you are supporting our efforts in nature and species conservation!

And here the photos:
We were at the Giant Pandas but they had played hide and seek and so we couldn`t see them.
But we were lucky. The artist Gottfried Kumpf has made a Giant Panda and so we could climb on it.
Have a look!

Zentralfriedhof Vienna, Austria - 13th September 2012
By: Grinsekatze
Today I visit with my mum Grinsekatze and Kathy + Melek +Little Dragon the Zentralfriedhof
The Zentralfriedhof (German for "Central Cemetery") is one of the largest cemeteries in the world, largest by number of interred in Europe and most famous cemetery among Vienna's nearly 50 cemeteries.
The cemetery's name is descriptive of its significance as Vienna's biggest cemetery, not of its geographic location, as it is not situated in the city center of the Austrian capital, but on the very outskirts, in the outer city district of Simmering, and its address is Simmeringer Hauptstraße 230–244, Vienna 1110, Austria. The musician Wolfgang Ambros honoured the Zentralfriedhof in his 1975 song "Es lebe der Zentralfriedhof" ("Long live the Zentralfriedhof"), marking with it the 100th anniversary of the cemetery's opening.
We have seen the grave of Falco the great musican (his real name was Hans Hölzl)
Johann (Hans) Hölzel (19 February 1957 – 6 February 1998), better known by his stage name Falco (help•info), was an Austrian pop and rock musician and rapper. He had several international hits: "Der Kommissar", "Rock Me Amadeus", "Vienna Calling", "Jeanny", "The Sound of Musik", "Coming Home (Jeanny Part 2)" and posthumously, "Out of the Dark". "Rock Me Amadeus" reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts, making him the only artist whose principal language was German to score a number-one hit in the United States. His estate claims he has sold 20 million albums and 15 million singles, which makes him the best selling Austrian singer of all time.

Hamburg, Germany - 15th September 2012
By: franzi4690
Dear Mummy,
I arrived without any complications in Hamburg and thank you for the travel food supplies. I'm sorry for contacting you that late but me and my host were on tour all the time and saw some cool stuff!
I already met some new friends over here, which made it easy for me to settle down.
On these pictures you can see Lupy and my new bff "Little Miss Sunshine" (an albino rat) which has her FIRST birthday in two weeks (psssst.. but I'm looking forward to the big party, but don't tell her ). It is funny that we both have the same waist circumference...

Hamburg, Germany - 15th September 2012
By: franzi4690
Since I already missed the water on my first day here (Well.. I'm a Pinguin!), I wanted to make a trip to the harbour.
So we took the "Jazztrain" to the city. Jazztrain is a once a year kind of festival where they play live music in one special underground train. It was cool that something like this happened when I was here!!!
When we arrived at the "Landungsbrücken", we made a harbour boat trip. The water was very bumpy this day, but luckily my host had a look after me when I was leaning over the rail. But of course this view was worth the risk!
I saw some ships, the "Elbphilharmonie", and even kissed the AIDAmar.
The whole trip made me sooooo hungry I had to eat one BIG, FAT fish sandwich

Hamburg, Germany - 16th September 2012
By: franzi4690
On the next morning we had to get up really early. And I mean REALLY early!
It was sunday, which means in Hamburg - time for the famous "Fischmarkt". (it is every Sunday between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m.)
I was at the booth of "Ale Dieter", who is a real star over here. Unfortunately he didn't gave me an eel
If you thought Oktoberfest is only celebrated in Munich, you're wrong. The fishmarket hall in Altona is full of drunk people in traditional bavarian clothing even this early.
On my way back I met a real old sailor playing accordion. When you see this guy smiling you know that the happiest and most satisfied people in Germany live in Hamburg.
Oh.. and we passed a submarine. Funny that humans need such a thing to dive down in the ocean!

Hamburg, Germany - 19th September 2012
By: franzi4690
During the next days my host started a private city tour for me. So we rent one of the bikes and went by it to the "Jungfernstieg" - the heart of Hamburg, where I also got a photo of the city hall.
Then we moved on with the tour to the main shopping street, called Mönckebergstraße, the Hard Rock Café, the Elbphilharmonia and even the Speicherstadt, where i've been standing on the so called Romeo and Julia Bridge where all the loving couples put some padlocks on the hand rail. And there is even something printed on the pavement. It is said that if you kiss someone on this bridge the love will last forever.
I had a look around but no other pingi was there to kiss
We continued the tour through the HafenCity (i made a picture with the Marco Polo Tower) and finished the day at the central station.

Halle/Saale, Germany - 21st September 2012
By: franzi4690
This weekend me and my host made a tour to Halle, which is located straight in the middle of Germany, to visit her boyfriend and her family.
Her boyfriend plays guitar so I had to try it myself. Now I wanna be a rockstar when I'm grown up!!!!
Mummy, I met the mummy of my host and we had a delicious meal in a greek restaurant, but no worries I'm doing sports in the running wheel of Little Miss Sunshine.
It was the right time to visit the city of Halle, because they celebrated the "Salzfest". It was quite funny seeing some people walking around in strange costumes.

Today I was shopping in the city... And then, I saw a bill of Doutzen Kroes, the dutch topmodel! In a few minutes she would arrive to present her own fashion line. However we waited over a half hour, but unfortunately she didn´t come...
