Erfurt, Germany - 10th December 2012
By: Susie's
Moooooooooommmmmmmmyyyyyy,
I got to travel around Germany again.
Monday morning we took the highspeed ICE train to Erfurt (which is in the federal state of Thuringia). Once we got there we strolled around town all day. We saw lots of old, interesting, and colorful buildings. We took a tour around town with some kind of a small, electric train, visited the cathedral and in the evening finally reached the Weihnachtsmarkt/ christmas fair (what we came here for).
Since we stayed over night we had the chance to see more of Erfurt Tuesday morning. So we visited the fortress Petersberg and had an amazing view over Erfurt.
After that we traveled on (more about that soon).
Love you
Yours Druri

Eisenach, Germany - 11th December 2012
By: Susie's
After visiting the fortress Petersberg in Erfurt Tuesday morning we traveled on to Eisenach (which is also in the federal state of Thuringia). There we got to see a worldfamous sight.
The Wartburg (it's an UNESCO world heritage)! From 1211 till 1227 the holy St. Elisabeth (lots of hospitals are named after her because see dedicated her life to the poor and sick) lived here and in 1521/1522 Martin Luther (he translated the new Testament in only 11 weeks).
We took a tour with a guide and got to see some of the inside of the castle that way. That was very interesting.
But it was so cold there! Brrrrrr.....

Wow, I am pretty busy these days.
Cause yesterday we were gone again.
This time we visited Aschaffenburg in Bavaria. First hostmum showed me the local castle named Johannisburg. Then I took a closer look a everything that can be bought at the Weihnachtsmarkt. After that we strolled around town some more.
That was nice.
Send you a hug

Hosts home, Germany - 20th December 2012
By: Susie's
Hi Mummy,
we baked some more.
Yesterday we made Candy Cane Cookies.
First we had to melt chocolate and butter, stirred in flour, sugar, eggs, baking soda and some cocoa and then added chopped candy canes. We placed the dough on a baking sheet, put some more candy cane chunks on top and than baked it.
The cookies are pretty sweet.

Host's home, Germany - 23rd December 2012
By: Susie's
We really had a lot (more) to do today.
In the morning we prepare the dough for a cake that had to go to the fridge for a while. Than we "packed" the cookies which host mum took to a christmas luch with friends.
When she came back in the afternoon we finished the cake, wrapped christmas presents, and also prepare the ham for tomorrow. Hmmmmm now it smells so good.

friends House, Germany - 27th December 2012
By: Susie's
Yesterday we spent all day at one of hostmums friends house.
For lunch we had chestnutsoup and fresh rolls and our selfmade cinnamon icecream and for dinner we enjoyed pizza.
In between _Lilly_ and me got to play with little C. and all his new toys he got for christmas. That was fun.
I even got a christmas present from hosthum. It is a pack of good good chocolate. Or let's better say it was. Cause by now it's already all gone.

Hanau, Germany - 29th December 2012
By: Susie's
Hi mom,
today we were shopping on the farmers market in the town of Hanau.
Hanau is the town were the brothers Grimm were born (you can see the statue of them in one of the pictures).
We were quit in a hurry and didn't had too much time to take photos.
Love

Frankfurt/Main, Germany - 30th December 2012
By: Susie's
Hi Mommy,
the weather was pretty mixed up yesterday (strong wind, lots of clouds, grey sky, a bit of rain and a bit of sunshine) but hostmum decided anyway that it is time to do some walking. Cause we haven't been outside in quite a while (besides the few minutes on the farmer market saturday). So we took the train to Frankurt/Main and just strolled around town. Somewhen we came by the area of Frankfurt fair. It's where the skyscraper with the triangle on top is.
The building with the gold colored balconys is the so called Festhalle or "Gudd Stubb". It's an event/concert hall for more than 10.000 people.
What are your plans for tonight? Are you going to a party?
I wish you a "Guten Rutsch" (it is a german saying).
