Paderborn, Germany - 26th April 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi mummy!
After a short trip in my envelope I arrived Paderborn. Listening to many whispering voices made me very curious. So I took a look out of the envelope and looked into many friendly and expectant faces. They welcomed me very warmly and were happy about my packet of jelly babies
The rest of the day we sat together talking and OF COURSE eating jelly babies...I think we'll have a nice time together!
Love you, mummy, yours Haribaer

Paderborn, Germany - 29th April 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi mummy,
yesterday morning Twixx showed me Neuenbeken, hostmum's home village that belongs to Paderborn. We saw the Beke river, lots of nice flowers and some old houses. Hostmum said she lived in the house with the blue door years ago.
And on the "Waldlehrpfad" we learned something about the animals living round Neuenbeken.
In Neuenbeken all the electricity boxes are painted. We visited a particularly nice one that shows the viaduct of Neuenbeken.
And of course we visited the very very old church.
Back home we walked through hostmum's garden...and looked at the pasture behind the garden.

Schlangen, Germany - 29th April 2013
By: mcdaniels
...and in the afternoon we had a walk near Schlangen, a village 8 kilometres from Neuenbeken that is famous for the Lerchensporn (Corydalis) that blooms there for a few days in spring. It looked fantastic!
All the best, yours Haribaer

Hi mum,
today we welcomed Profen, a nice owl from France. He brought a little basket filled with French specialities, so we sat together eating French cheese and baguette and drinking wine...and we told him about TV-life, cause it's his first trip (I know, it's my first trip as well, but I'm here a few days longer ) I think we'll have a nice time together and he won't be homesick at all.
All the best, yours Haribaer

Paderborn, Germany - 2nd May 2013
By: mcdaniels
Dear mummy,
today morning we went into hostmum's garden and visited the sheep and their lambs in the pasture. Hostmum said the sheep came originally from the Cameroons.
Then we escorted hostmum to work by bike: 8 kilometres to the old people's home she works as a social worker and 8 kilometres back.
We listened to 3 nightingales (why are they called 'nightingales' though they're singing in the middle of the day?) and saw that the rape starts blooming.
Unfortunately today hostmum sat in their office almost the whole afternoon, but Twixx, Profen and me were allowed to write something as well. Look what I wrote for you
On the way back home we saw some nice black and white lambs.
Love you, mummy,
yours Haribaer

Dalheim, Germany - 6th May 2013
By: mcdaniels
Dear mum,
yesterday we drove to a plant and garden day at Dalheim monastery. There were some useful and lots of nice and funny things you could buy. Have a look:
And of course we had some yummy food: potato fritter
And imagine, mummy, hostmum brought us three little animals: an owl for Profen, an ibex for Twixx (unfortunately there was no goat) and a bear for me!
All the best, yours Haribaer

All the best to Mother's Day, mummy!!!
Today afternoon we visited a friend of hostmum who has got a big garden with many things to explore:
first Profen, Twixx and me tested the swing. Great!
Before putting to sea with a big boat we got to know a strange huge woodworm who was the garden's guardian he said.
THe we got to know Fynn and Bea the two dogs. They showed us the rabbits nobody was allowed to eat...okay...
One picture shows the tomatoe plants hostmum got for her garden.
In the end the little son of hostmum's friend showed us all his little cars and master rabbit, a nice guy who must stay at home...
Best wishes, mummy,
yours Haribaer

Altenbeken, Germany - 19th May 2013
By: mcdaniels
Happy Whitsun, mummy!
On Whit Sunday we drove to Altenbeken by bike. Altenbeken is a small town at the beginning of the Egge mountains.
It was a very sunny day, the sky was so blue and the trees were so green...fantastic!
On the way to Altenbeken Twixx, Profen and me took a rest in a field of woodruff.
When we reached Altenbeken we first visited the bib viaduct this town is famous for. The viaduct was built up in the middle of the 19th century.
Though Altenbeken is a small town it was and still is a railway junction. In commemoration of the old days there is standing an old steam engine in the middle of the town. Of course we had to explore it!
On the way back home we visited some cows on a hill, river Beke and a small viaduct that belongs to Neuenbeken. And then we took a long rest sunbathing on a bench
Best wishes, mummy, love you,
yours Haribaer.

Paderborn, Germany - 27th May 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi mummy,
today morning it was very cold and wet outside. But hostmum said: "Let's plant some flowers on our balcony, perhaps it'll stop raining and the sun will shine if we'll do so." So we did. First Twixx, Profen, Störte and me cleaned the flowerpots and filled them with new ground. Then we planted the flowers...and believe it or not, while working on the balcony it stopped raining and it became brighter and brighter and the dark clouds disappeared...
Best wishes,
yours Haribaer

Paderborn, Germany - 27th May 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi mum,
in the afternoon we had a sightseeing tour through Paderborn. We drove to the city by bus.
First we went into a very nice café where we all ate a big piece of cake and drank a cup of tea, very yummy!
Then Twixx showed Profen and me the sights of Paderborn: the cathedral, the 'window of the three hares' (there are three hares with only three ears, but every hare has got two ears...), the town hall, the Neptun fountain and the river Pader (German's shortest river with lots of springs).
In between times we met a very strange figure...and guess what: we went into a jelly baby shop...a shop filled with jelly babies!!!
Of course I bought some...I'll send them to you tomorrow
Best wishes, yours Haribaer

Dear mummy,
today morning I sent a small parcel to you. Hope you like it
And then we helped hostmum preparing a tree so that the neighbour's cat can't reach the nesting box in the tree. Hostmum said 'nothing against cats, but if they kill birds it's going beyond the joke'...

Bad Lippspringe, Germany - 28th May 2013
By: mcdaniels
And in the afternoon we drove to Bad Lippspringe by bike. It was a very sunny day so we had time to see hostmum walking in ice cold water (it shall be healthy...I have some doubts), to visit the ruin of an old castle, to take a rest between some flowers, to visit river Jordan and of course to have some ice cream
