Paderborn, Germany - 7th October 2013

By: mcdaniels

Dear mummy,
believe it or not...after all the adventures and experiences and meetings of the last days I needed time for myself
So I decided to go for a walk round Neuenbeken, hostmum's home village, on my own.
It was a sunny day and I saw again that my scarf is an absolute autumn-scarf  :)
And I just sat here and there and enjoyed life...
And now the next meetings and jokes can start  :D
Love you,
yours OleOrangescarf

Paderborn, Germany - 13th October 2013

By: mcdaniels

Dear mum,
today we had a sunny day so we went on a autumn-cycling tour.
We met some late bees and saw the harvested maize fields. The trees look very nice now, some leafs get brown, some get yellow, some get red or orange...
We found some big yellow mushrooms...or toadstools? Nobody knew and nobody wanted to try out  :cyclops:
And look the red rose hips!
On the sign you can see the route we drove. After a while we reached our destination, a 300-year-old half-timbered house in the middle of a forest in which a friend of hostmum lives.
Many kisses
yours OleOrangescarf

Bad Lippspringe, Germany - 19th October 2013

By: mcdaniels

Dear mummy,
today morning hostparents drove with my new friend Mefito and me to Bad Lippspringe by bike.
Mefito showed me the ruin of the old castle, the old spa with many old trees, the place where a mill had stood a long time ago, some places where you can drink spring water and a new round basin filled with very cold water for walking in it  :cyclops: Hostmum said it's healthy to do so but we didn't want to try out. In addition there was a sign that showed it was forbidden for dogs to went into the basin, so we concluded it was certainly forbidden for skunks and polar bears as well  ;)
And Mefito showed me the bookshop with the nice postcards and I found a polar bear-card which I'll send to you  :D
On the way back home we saw lots of apples lying on the ground. So we stopped and helped hostparents picking them up.
Hostmum promised us to make apple pancakes the next days  :p
Love you
yours OleOrangescarf

Reelkirchen, Germany - 20th October 2013

By: mcdaniels

Dear mum,
today we made a trip to Reelkirchen, not the paradise  ;), but a very nice little village that belongs to the Egge mountains.
We visited the old church and a very old lime tree.
There were very many half-timbered houses, some more than 300 years old.
On the way back we saw the colourful forest. Great!

Paderborn, Germany - 22nd October 2013

By: mcdaniels

Dear mum,
today Mefito showed me hostmum's work in Paderborn. She works as a social worker in an old people's home. We drove by bike and on our way we watched the autumn. But today the autumn tasted of spring, it was very warm and together with the new sown grain it also looked like spring.
On our way we met a strange guy who showed us the right way to Paderborn city  ;)
We droved past a school but the lucky children were on autumn holiday in this region.
After eight kilometres we reached the old people's home from the back.
In front of the house there were nice colourful bushes  :) and some last flowers.
Today mum made music and we helped her  :D
And look what I wrote to you  :)
See you
yours OleOrangescarf

Paderborn, Germany - 26th October 2013

By: mcdaniels

Dear mummy,
today we went to an autumn-fair in Paderborn city. First we had a look from the top of the multi-storey we had parked. Then we went to the fairground.
We admired the ghost train, an old merry-go round, stands with lots of sweets  :p and the Ferris wheel. Hostmum asked us whether we wanted to drive with the Ferris wheel...without question we wanted  :D It was great!!!
I love you

Paderborn, Germany - 1st November 2013

By: mcdaniels

Dear mummy,
today it's been a grey and rainy day so we did the best we could do: having a relaxing bath.
First each of us chose his favourite bubble bath and then the relaxation began...wonderful...
Hours later  ;) we continued relaxing with yummy chocolate in front of the television.
Very nice grey and rainy November day  :)
1000 hugs

Altenbeken, Germany - 3rd November 2013

By: mcdaniels

Dear mummy,
today afternoon we went for a walk round Altenbeken, the village next to Neuenbeken.
There we walked through a forest to a statue of saint Mary where hostmum lighted a candle for all her late relatives and friends as many people do on All Saints' Day.
On our way to the statue we saw some signs but no sign to saint Mary but we could see her from a long way away.
It was a very peaceful place as you can see.
On the way back we met a strange guy in the middle of the forest.
We took another rest on a bench when suddenly we were knocked over by a gust of wind  :cyclops:
In Altenbeken we visited an old steam engine that is standing there in memory of the past. Altenbeken has been and still is a railway junction.
Bye for today
yours Ole

Paderborn, Germany - 9th November 2013

By: mcdaniels

Dear mum,
today morning hostmum had to drive to the vet with two canaries of her place of work. While they were on their way we explored the birdcage.
Okay, it was not so bad to sit on a swing but we were all happy to be free ToyVoyagers who explore the world instead of sitting in a cage...
Then we drove to a shop full of musical instruments. Great!
We were allowed to test all the instruments  :D
I liked many of the instruments but I was most enthusiastic about the electric guitar!
Love you

Paderborn, Germany - 15th November 2013

By: mcdaniels

Dear mummy,
today we droved to Paderborn city by bus for visiting river Pader. This river is the shortest river in Germany (only 4 km) but has got more than 200 sources.
We visited a place where women did the washing up to the fifties of the last century.
While sitting there suddenly a goose caught me  :o
"This is not allowed, I'm a tourist!", I shouted and so the goose dropped me, apologized to me and allowed me to sit on her back...puuuhh!
Many many hugs,
yours OleOrangescarf
