Utrecht, the Netherlands - 24th April 2012

Hello!
Welcome to my home. I am Meggie from Utrecht. I live in a flat on number 13-2, in a house behind a yellow door. The color kind of reminds me like cheese, so please do come in fast, before I get hungry.
We live on the third floor of a flat, near the city center. It doesn't look like we're in the middle of a big city because of the trees in front of the building and the gardens at the back. I enjoy spending time at the window sill because I like to watch the kids who are playing football outside.
Of course I am not all alone here. There are two cats running around. Bella is an old cat lady with beautiful colors and Flaco is a black-and-white youngster who plays with everything he finds. You would say that cats and mice don't get along, but these two are actually not that bad. They usually just sleep somewhere and mind their own business. Sometimes we meet and then we say 'hello' and 'meow' and that's about it.
You will all get to know more about me in the next few updates, so I will leave now and see what's for dinner. Something with cheese, I hope!

Utrecht, the Netherlands - 25th April 2012

Today we went shopping in the city center of Utrecht. I really wanted to come along to say goodbye to a few of my favorite places in this city. As much as I want to travel, I also love Utrecht a lot. So while we were there we took some pictures that I really want to show you.
Utrecht is the fourth largest city of the Netherlands. Utrecht's cityscape features the Dom Tower (112 m), belonging to the former cathedral (Dom Church). You can see the Dom Tower on my first picture.
Another landmark is the canal structure in the inner city. The Oudegracht is a curved canal, partly following an old arm of the Rhine. It is lined with the unique wharf-basement structures that creates a two-level street along the canals. The inner city has largely retained its medieval structure, and the moat ringing the old town is largely intact. On the second picture you can see a small part of the Oudegracht.

Tonight we had football on TV. Yes! In this household we all support our team FC Utrecht, as you can see on the first picture. Tonight the second team of FC Utrecht was playing in the cup final against the second team of Ajax. That was really exciting. I decided to sit close to the TV so I could watch everything. Even Flaco came by to say 'meow' to me.
The game was really exciting at first. Both teams were running around like crazy but there were no goals in the first 90 minutes. In the next 30 minutes the players from FC Utrecht seemed already tired and then they lost with 1-0. That was a pity, I wanted them to win this game.
I hope that on my travel I can see more football games. It would be nice to get to know other teams as well.

In my first travel update I said that I live near the city center of Utrecht, but that it really doesn't show as soon as we go outside. Today I made a little walk in our neighborhood. I saw the little water lock, the windmill and a cute little street next to one of the smaller canals. This is such a peaceful part of the city!

So this is my last day at home. This week I have met a couple of toy voyagers and I love the stories they have told me. On the first picture you can see the other toys that I have met this week, their names are Elefantus Claus, Josie, Mi Nam and Sam Sam.
I have really decided that it's about time to start my journey. On the second picture you can see me with my friends at home. They are not as adventurous as I am and they think I am crazy for wanting to see more of the world. I love them anyways and will miss them. I hope they will keep following my travel updates.
So I will pack my bags now and start my journey!

Hey,
today BlackCat needed a short break of all the trouble at home. So we all went on a hill and enjoyed the view from there. It is nice how relaxing this can be.
Love,
Meggie

Hey mum,
as the weather was so good, we decided to go outside and enjoy a walk at the Ruhr.
We drove to a little parking lot which was pretty full with cars, but we still found a place for our little car. And then we walked over to the Ruhr.
Isn't it beautiful there?
And it was so calm. Nearly no people where there.
Sometimes a bicycle came around, but I am used to them. So it was really nice.
I enjoy the sunshine at the moment. I hope it stays for some longer.
Love,
Meggie
