Paderborn, Germany - 28th March 2013

By: mcdaniels

Hi!
I'm Sidney L., a sheep that loves flying in any way.
I'm so happy to be a Toyvoyager, because I want to discover the world with my flying carpet. Work on my carpet is in progress, mum says I have to be patient, we got to know each other only yesterday...Actually she din't want to activate another TV but she couldn't stand up to my charm...
Best wishes to all of you, perhaps we'll meet...
yours Sidney L.

Paderborn, Germany - 29th March 2013

Today morning I got to know all my new brothers and sisters (above all my "big brother" Marley) and Twixx. I was very happy, I think they're very nice. Twixx told me about his experiences as a TV, very interesting...he has experienced a lot so far, I hope so, I'll as well...
And imagine, a minute ago mum told me I've got my first invitation!!! :D
Now I'm in a hurry, my flying carpet has to be crocheted  ;)
All the best, Sidney L.

Paderborn, Germany - 29th March 2013

By: mcdaniels

Today afternoon I escorted mum to work and Twixx escorted me, because I wanted to ask one of the old ladies in the old people's home whether she crotcheted a carpet for me and Twixx should bring his charme into play for convincing the lady...
It just worked, the nice lady agreed and showed us some of her crotchet works. Then I was allowed to choose the coulours, look what I chose, I think it'll be a very pretty carpet.
Just before going home we put up some Easter bunnies for mum's colleagues who have to work at Easter.
Bye bye, yours Sidney L.

Happy Easter!!!
Last night we drove through Paderborn for sharing Easter bunnies. Twixx and me creeped to the houses of mum's and dad's friends, put the bunnies in front of the entrances and ran back to the car as fast as we could. Of course we weren't discovered at all  B)
Best wishes, Sidney L.

Paderborn, Germany - 2nd April 2013

By: mcdaniels

Yesterday mum, dad, Twixx and me made a bike tour round Neuenbeken. First we had to wake up the bikes from hinernation  ;). It wasn't a very long tour, because it was still cold  :(
...no spring at all!
Round Neuenbeken there's one of the biggest inland wind parks.
On our route we had a great view of Paderborn's surroundings. And we visited the 100th avenue of a Westfalian avenue project. A few years ago a politician opened this avenue, because it was the 100st...

Paderborn, Germany - 7th April 2013

By: mcdaniels

Imagine, I've got my carpet!!! :D
Yesterday I sat together with all my friends discussing how to make the carpet fly...we thought that we had to find a magic word and everybody had a suggestion...but I sat and sat on my carpet and NOTHING happened  :(
So I went to bed very disappointed, but last night I had a dream: a flying pig came to me and whispered a strange word into my ear.
After waking up this morning I immediately tried to start my carpet whispering this word...and it worked!!! Now I've got a FLYING carpet!!! Wonderful!!! Unfortunately I'm not allowed to tell the magic word to anybody else...

Remscheid, Germany - 9th April 2013

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
I arrived in Remscheid today!

My first host Katja and two ToyVoyagers, nosyblue (a sheep like me :) ) and Manganinnie gave me a warm welcome.

Katja loves the postcard and we three tasted the chocolate egg - hmmm.... yummy!

Remscheid, Germany - 11th April 2013

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
today finally we had better weather. We met one of Katja's friends to take a walk in the surroundings of Remscheid. Katja told me it might be best to leave the flying carpet at home, because I could travel comfortly in her bag. Outside everything  still might be wet and the carpet would have become dirty. So we went to the district Rath to pick up her friend.

Rath is a district close to Morsbach valley which partly is the border to the neighbour city Wuppertal, but there are also more Remscheid districts at the opposite side of the valley.

We went towards the valles and left the housing area.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8250/8641281826_c15594692a_o.jpg

In Morsbach valley you can find a lot of industrial complexes, partly historic ones and also newer buildings. Industrialization startet here in middle ages with smitheries and tool producing companies.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8400/8641281952_b1a77875cd_o.jpg

In the outskirts you can find those lovely houses.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8532/8641282024_215c22860f_o.jpg

Soon we reached another forest.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8540/8640197037_e59ee2d33f_o.jpg

At a restaurant we found this funny sign :)

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8388/8641282084_ba928ed834_o.jpg

We saw fish ponds in the valley.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8124/8640178311_bbefeb5df7_o.jpg

These are tinder fungus, a special sort of fungus which is growing on trees.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8118/8640178483_c3b2877f77_o.jpg

This lovely house belongs to a museum estate.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8536/8640178619_12695dc3e4_o.jpg

We followed the valley along the creek ...

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8241/8640178727_e8fddcf82e_o.jpg

... until we reached this estate with lots of farm animals.

There were sheep with their lambs, several horses and chicken.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8395/8641282654_387088887b_o.jpg

Later we came through another lovely hamlet, hidden in the valley.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8403/8641282768_37a285b96a_o.jpg

Even here we found an historic factory building with distribution grounds.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8527/8641282850_eb9af60a29_o.jpg

From here we had to walk uphill for more than 40 minutes to get back home. I wish I'd had taken my carpet with me!

Bye
Sidney

Remscheid, at home, Germany - 12th April 2013

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
having capricious weather today we stayed at home and helped Katja to cook delicious jam. She bought pineapple, oranges and physalis. We already prepared the jars.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8392/8646054630_8e72cbb57f_o.jpg

First all the fruits were cut into small pieces ...

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8117/8646054832_89ba6a076c_o.jpg

... than mixed in a large bowl ...

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8394/8644954951_45d8707550_o.jpg

... and cooked with gelling sugar.

Soon we had several glasses with a delicious jam.

Remscheid, Germany - 18th April 2013

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
today my host was really busy, but at least we took a few photos when we went home at lunch time.

This is the city hall with its tower, about 48, high.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8380/8669374564_8d5352e44a_o.jpg

Close to the city hall you can find a water tower, for drinking water supply for the people in the city centre.

Remcheid / Solingen, Germany - 19th April 2013

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
today we met a friend to take a walk which would lead us to the outskirts of the neighbour city Solingen. There is an historic district, Solingen-Burg, close to Remscheid. Burg is divided into two parts: Unterburg in the valley and Oberburg uphill with a beautiful medieval castle.

In Unterburg we found lovely houses along a really steep street.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8386/8669374834_0ee4b82725_o.jpg

Finally we are having springtime!

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8379/8669374940_206d6f93b6_o.jpg

Soon after we started our trip it started to rain, so we decided to walk back to the car.  Katja showed us this old church mit a very special graveyard next to it. The church was opened in the 1730's years.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8398/8669375046_0bc6bab6d0_o.jpg

This is river Wupper, if we had followed it we would have come to Muengsten bridge.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8390/8668272311_d4d6f7a408_o.jpg

To get back to the car we had to walk uphill for some time. River Wupper was still visible.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8399/8669375276_e00bc0302d_o.jpg

Later we stopped at a supermarket to buy a few things.

Bye

Remscheid, Germany - 20th April 2013

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
in the late afternoon we took a walk to a nearby valley. Those finally blooming trees really cheered us up!

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8390/8668272529_9bb0f23bda_o.jpg

In the background you can see the outskirts of Wuppertal.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8384/8669375470_ef7dc31ef7_o.jpg

When we went to the valley we looked out for a flock of galloway cattle. Soon we found them.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8379/8669375586_bda9e830f9_o.jpg

Along the creek in the valley you can find remains of historic water-driven forging plants.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8401/8669375674_e324230531_o.jpg

A lovely place to live ... hidden in the valley.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8383/8668273055_75f1be0c13_o.jpg

Taking a walk in a valley always means walking uphill to get back home in the end :) Here we crossed a railway track.

Remscheid, Germany - 21st April 2013

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
today Katja's son joined us for breakfast. Later we took a walk to Hohenhagen, a housing area close to woodland areas and rural areas.

To get there we walked through the city and came along the station. There is a bus stop in front of it, it is planted with lovely blooming trees.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8387/8668273269_4ab4d03dbe_o.jpg

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8399/8668273337_7454b95c30_o.jpg

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8385/8668273417_76bc6b28d2_o.jpg

Soon we reached Hohenhagen. A few years ago lots of new houses were built on a large areal which was a gliding airfield once.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8383/8669376298_07766fede9_o.jpg

We had a good overview to the surroundings, outskirts of Wuppertal were visible in the background.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8379/8668273597_a2b5e90297_o.jpg

We went downhill into a valley than ...

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8397/8668273831_5b8f1c9921_o.jpg

There were also allotment gardes. From here we had to walk for about 10 minutes to get home.
