Paris, France - 3rd January 2012

By: Krtecek

I will soon be an experienced traveller. I came back from Rome yesterday and today I am already in Paris. Me, my mommy, Zubak and Phillip took a bus to Paris. It was a 14 hour ride so we got home quite tired. We were welcomed by the other toys who were waiting for us in my mommy´s appartment.

Paris, France - 4th January 2012

By: Krtecek

In the morning my mommy went to school so we stayed in bag all morning. But in the afternoon we did a small sightseeing trip. The weather was nice and we enjoyed it. First of all we stopped at the Notre Dame cathedral which is  the most famous cathedral in Paris and the venue of the novel the Hunchback of Notre Dame. There were many tourists who were taking pictures. So did we.

Then we took a bike - special bike called Velib. It is a bike you are sharing with other people. There are stations where you can take and leave the bike every 300 metres all over Paris. And the first 30 minutes are free. Moreover it was sunny so we loved the wind in our hair.

Next stop was at the townhall (Hotel de Ville) of Paris. It is a beautiful building at the bank of Seine river. There is an ice-skating ring and a lovely Carrousel (merry-go-round). We took pictures but did not go for a ride. It makes me sick.

The final stop was at Centre George Pompidou - a museum of modern art in the heart of Paris. It is built in a modern style with all staircases on the outside of the building. We also saw artist in front of the Centre.

Today, my mum took to visit the Latin disctrict (Quartier Latin) which is in the heart of Paris. It is the area with many ancient univiersities and schools. There are also many bars and restaurants filled with young people. Its a very lively area.

First of all we visited Pantheon - the centre of the district and the burial place of all big Frenchmen (Voltaire, Rousseau, Emile Zola, Victor Hugo and others). There is also a law school of my mum right in front of Pantheon.

Then we went towards the river and saw the Sorbonne and a beautiful Musée de Cluny (medieval museum in a medieval fortress). Finally we stopped at the Fountaint of St. Michel when it started to rain. Therefore we wend back home.

Paris, France - 7th January 2012

By: Krtecek

Today, my mum wanted to show me some of that "Paris at night" feeling. So we went to do a long trip from Arch de triomphe through Concorde (where we saw the Eiffel tower for the first time) and Jardin de Tuileries to the Louvre where it was already dark. It was completely different than during the day as there were lights everywhere and not too many people. I enjoyed myself very much.
And at the end we went to taste the real Champagne.

Today we finally went to see the Eiffel Tower. It was the most stunning feeling I have had so far. It is so beautiful and elegant and, eh...tall.
I was watching it from the ground and it is simply enormous. And you can see through it.
And there is also a parc next to it. We had a small picknick there. It was not the best weather for a picknick but we didnt mind.
Then we took a bicycle and went to see the Invalides which is a hospital for war veterans with a beautiful church where is the tomb of Napoleon. The building itself it huge but you can always recognise it by its golden roof (wonder if they use real gold....).

And then we continued our visit to Montmartre a district of Paris known for its artist. However before even seeing any artist we had to climb an enormous mountain (Montmartre is on the only real hill in Paris). There were at least 2000 steps  or maybe little less.

At the top we saw the painters at Placede Tertre and the famous basilica of Sacre coeur - the white symbol of the district. There on the stairs leading to the basilica we saw the musicians and comedians. It was  very interesting.

Nicosia, TRNC - 11th January 2012

By: Krtecek

Today is our first day in  Cyprus. We are going to visit Nicosia - the capital city and the only divided capital in the world. There are two parts the Greek and the Turkish and between them there is a guarded wall and many soldiers. But there are also border crossings where people and toys can cross over to the other side.

We saw the most important mosque in the Turkish side - the Sulimiye mosque in Nicosia. It was originally a gothic cathedral but it serves as a mosque since the 16th century.

Next to it we saw a lovely antique shop so we decided to take a group photo.

Bahceli, TRNC - 12th January 2012

Today we are just relaxing. We decided to go to ckeck out on the swimming pool. The water was a little bit chilli but we played pool games and I even tried to float a little. It was cool since it was perfectly clean.

Then we went to the beach - there are pebbles all over. It was after the storm and the waves vere high so we couldnt swim but the sea was warm ans surprisingly clean.

Kyrenia, TRNC - 13th January 2012

By: Krtecek

On our last day we visited Kyrenia - an important port and a tourist centre of the Northern Cyprus. It is so pretty there is an old harbour with many yachts and speedboats, crooked streets with old colonial buildings and a huge medieval castle.

We are back home. Mommy and Philip have left us as they continued back to Paris. So we are staying with daddy. We are sad but we have met many new toys and to make us happier we are all going to watch a movie.

Prague, Czech Republic - 22nd January 2012

By: Krtecek

Finally, our daddy decided to take us for a walk. We´ve benn back to Prague for over a week and we were not doing anything else than watching television. But today, we went for a walk. And it was wort it.

We started our journey in the forest of Petrín where at the hill there is a Petrín look-out tower. It made me think of my trip to Paris. And no wonder, the top of the Petrín tower is in the same height above the sea level as the top of the Eiffel tower. Other than that, its a lot smaller.

We climbed up the tower and the view was just amazing. Prague really is so much different from Paris. All the roofs are red, houses are smalles, the river flows quietly through the centre. Loved it.

Prague castle is an interesting complex of various buildings dating from the 11th century until the 20th century. The centre of the castle is the St. Vitus cathedral whose constructiont ook over 600 years. I was so happy to be on the trip that I was running around all over the place. It was so much fun.
