Remscheid, Germany - 9th February 2013

By: olgamaus

I just want to tell everybody that I arrived at home, safe and sound :)

I came back with Easy, a travelling rat which belongs to my last host. We arrived at home just in time for breakfast.

Mummy told me that she moved to another place in the meantime. It seems to be a nice place with a small park just in front of the housing complex.

Bye for now

Remscheid, Germany - 8th April 2013

By: olgamaus

After spending some time in my new home I thought it was time for travelling again. I've got an invitation to visit Jasper in Switzerland.  This sounds great!

Today I packed some things and hopped into my envelope. My friends Easy and Stoker will also leave today.

Mummy promised that the journey to Switzerland would not last too long.

Jasper, I'm coming!!!

Jasper's home, Switzerland - 12th April 2013

By: Jasper

Hi mummy,
I have arrived. First, I heard scratching and sniffing

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122502_zpsbe34d5e9.jpg

then my envelope was opened. A funny dog stuck his nose into it and pulled out my postcard,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122503_zps955604c1.jpg

then the sweets

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122504_zps9310d675.jpg

and then my precious, green bundle.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122505_zps67652dde.jpg

A pink fish watching him all the time. Finally, I climbed out.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122506_zps1c9be828.jpg

I saw two white rabbit and a turtle sitting on a bench.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122507_zps699b66b4.jpg

All welcomed me warmly but the turtle staring at me, I thought. A few seconds later, I knew what he was staring at. It was the candy. I took a seat on the little bench

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122509_zps32ad8807.jpg

and watched what happened.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122508_zps69272ad1.jpg

Mummy, that could be funny here.
Your little Panda Lilo

P.S. a few hours later Jasper gave me a little red book and told me that my green bundle is save now.

Jasper's home, Switzerland - 12th April 2013

By: Jasper

Hi mummy,
Today I sat on the little bench and chilled out a bit. Suddenly someone said hello to me.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122511_zpsc6d37e95.jpg

It was a little panda.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122512_zpsb237c036.jpg

He's not a TV and he has no name. He came as plant decoration to Jasper. I call him Boy and I find it nice to have a conspecifics here.

St.Gallen, Offa, Switzerland - 13th April 2013

Hi mum,
Today we visited with Jasper a fair for holidays and leisure time. First we took the bus

Jasper's home, Switzerland - 20th April 2013

By: Jasper

Hi mum,
Two days ago I was sitting on the balcony in the sun.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4172613_zps5ddc54fd.jpg

We had 23 degrees and enjoyed the spring to the fullest.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4172615_zpscfd35f8c.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4172616_zpsfb386373.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4172618_zps97e52490.jpg

When I woke up this morning and looked out the window, everything was white,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4202622_zpsc8a0fad2.jpg

I could not believe it. Overnight it had snowed again, 10 cm.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4202623_zps9b08dd81.jpg

It's so cold. Never ends this winter?
Kind regards from a frustrated Panda
Lilo

Route de Vin, Alsace, France - 28th April 2013

By: Jasper

Hello mum,
We are back from wonderful short holiday. With Jasper and her daughter we explored the "Route de Vin" (wine route) in Alsace. A paradise for wine lovers, gourmet and storks. We started with best weather

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242638_zpsb3bde1ee.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242639_zpsb2f05907.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242640_zps10ba1135.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242641_zpsfc0f8834.jpg

and looked gorgeous little wine villages. In Ribeauvillé we made the first break and tried Riesling d'alsace.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242647_zps0213b79b.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242648_zpsf1c4b24f.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242649_zps4b9a8b37.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242651_zps2a9abd3e.jpg

Excellent. We saw a stork's nest on an old tower.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242642_zps4224f55f.jpg

On a tour of the city we discovered many beautiful old houses,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242654_zps1cde3f8a.jpg

shops

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242661_zps06532bc5.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242656_zps8ae89026.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242657_zps1beee1d5.jpg

and fun artwork.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242658_zps60ca7fcc.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242659_zps5ec4a717.jpg

And vineyards, where you look.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242670_zps3cc24103.jpg

Then we drove to our hotel in Rosheim. This small wine village near Strasbourg has four gates.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242675_zps8e9ca929.jpg

One of them is called Zittglöckle (time bell) because it has a clock.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242674_zps90aa0aa1.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242677_zpscf132bb2.jpg

The old well had originally three buckets to fetch water upward.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242672_zpseeb80e34.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4242673_zpsa38c7250.jpg

This was our hotel.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4282802_zps4a960f12.jpg

Jasper forgot to take a picture but we took a little postcard on which it is seen. This was the view from our balcony in the garden with the magnificent weeping willow.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252683_zps3dccf05b.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252684_zpsf74bc761.jpg

That was our first day. We were curious what would bring the other day.

Strasbourg, France - 29th April 2013

By: Jasper

Hi, all at home,
the second day of our holiday we spent in Strasburg. All were pretty tired when Jasper woke us up,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252690_zps13720d60.jpg

but the nice weather lured us outside. Arrived in Strasburg we walked to the cathedral along the Ill River.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252691_zps92506b8b.jpg

We marveled at an old carousel.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252698_zpsb7b3fda4.jpg

Then we saw the cathedral.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252699_zpsf3912424.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252701_zps81652ddc.jpg

It is really impressive.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252704_zpse1812361.jpg

Strasbourg Cathedral or the Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg (French: Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg, German: Notre Dame Cathedral in Strasbourg), also known as Strasbourg Minster, is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Strasbourg, Alsace, France.
At 142 meters (466 feet), it was the world's tallest building from 1647 to 1874, When it was surpassed by St. Nikolai's Church, Hamburg. Today it is the sixth-tallest church in the world and the highest still-standing structure Entirely built in the Middle Ages.
The cathedral is visible far across the plains of Alsace and can be seen from as far off as the Vosges Mountains or the Black Forest on the other side of the Rhine. Sandstone from the Vosges used in construction gives the cathedral its characteristic pink hue.

The Place de la Republique, it was not far. Colorful spring flowers

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252711_zpse43416f7.jpg

and the War Memorial were there to see.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252708_zps45a5f70f.jpg

The Palais du Rhin is also there.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252714_zps8c55577d.jpg

Then we saw the Church of Saint Paul.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252718_zps97ea064d.jpg

We walked on the Ill river to the Pont Couvert (covered bridge)

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252724_zps41d9a6ce.jpg

and also saw there this towers.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252721_zps9577da81.jpg

One of them is called hangman tower. We could imagine what happened there before.

On our way home we saw this funny house.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252730_zps85b6c7b7.jpg

It is called "the worm hole"(Schneggeloch)
Arrived at the hotel we were very exhausted.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252733_zps8b6c73be.jpg

We slept a little but not too long because it was a full moon and we absolutely had to see.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252735_zps2ff54d8b.jpg

Bye for today

Haut-Königsbourg, Route de vin, France - 1st May 2013

By: Jasper

Hi mum,
after we had admired the full moon enough, we enjoyed another bottle of wine

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4252738_zps5950be08.jpg

and then fell into a deep sleep. The next day was like our heads - cloudy. On the way to our next destination we stopped often and let the wind blow us around the nose.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4262739_zpscde05213.jpg

And again, as far as one could see vineyards.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4262740_zps66651948.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4262747_zpsda36bbca.jpg

Then we reached Haut-Königsbourg, a 900-year old fortress.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4262750_zps070accec.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4262753_zpsfc905e5d.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4262757_zpsb294b0e7.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4262775_zpsf723e631.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4262782_zps669b5824.jpg

A truly impressive building. After a break and delicious food,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4262783_zpsb330018c.jpg

we drove to our hotel to Riquewihr.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4272790_zpsaf172b72.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4272792_zpsb5ecb685.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4272797_zps6fb95255.jpg

Unfortunately it started to rain heavily. Jasper had to decide - Camera or umbrella. She opted for the umbrella. So we spent the rest of the day and the journey home into Jasper's bag.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4272798_zps61f134d2.jpg

A little wet, tired but happy about the nice days.

Miss you mum, Panda_Lilo

Jungfraujoch, Switzerland - 10th May 2013

By: Jasper

Last weekend Jasper promised a special trip for Thursday, when the weather is good - really good. So we kept our fingers crossed for the whole week, but the weather forecast was not promising. Host dad decided: We try.
Thursday: Get up 5 clock in the morning, Departure 1 hour later. Much too early for TV's. Therefore, we slept on during the car ride.
As Jasper woke us the next time we were in Interlaken train station. The ticket showed us: We travel to the Jungfraujoch.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092805_zps05dd05c7.jpg

To the highest train station in Europe. The first train took us to Grindelwald at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, the well-known mountains in the Bernese Oberland.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092810_zpsf83a2c27.jpg

There, we changed the train to Kleine Scheidegg, the starting point for the trekkers climbing the Eiger North Face.
Here you see this notorious mountain wall, which has so many climbers cost their lives.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092820_zps30209273.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092824_zpsb51ad879.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092818_zps9903075c.jpg

Next, we boarded the red train to the Jungfraujoch.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092821_zps2e704397.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092828_zps2b66c27b.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092831_zps8a08cd26.jpg

This train is required in addition to the normal rails a gear to overcome the steep climbs.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092833_zps819785cf.jpg

As the train travels most of the time in tunnels, there are several breakpoints on the line with windows. From there you can admire famous places.
Our first stop, and also the last outside of the tunnel, was Eigergletscher.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092844_zps908ec523.jpg

From the once mighty glacier is not much left.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092847_zpsb0705875.jpg

The next stop was Eigerwand.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092861_zpsafc207b6.jpg

The view from the middle of the Eiger North Wall was breathtaking.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092853_zps50092e62.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092856_zps2d46a606.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092857_zps50096e80.jpg

The last stop is called Eismeer. Here you can see the glacier crashes between Eiger and Mönch.

Then we reached the highest station in Europe. 3454 meters above sea level. It was too dark to make pictures. We took the elevator to the Sphinx. 117 meters in 26 seconds.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092883_zpsbb7ac1ff.jpg

The Sphinx is a research station and an observatory. In 1996, the observation deck was opened. On clear days one has a fantastic view.

This mountain is called  Mönch and is 4107 meters (13475ft.) high.

This is the Sphinx.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092906_zpsbbde0820.jpg

It was very stormy. Through this wind changed fog, clouds and a clear view in seconds - unbelievable.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092913_zps8f2a396a.jpg

Then we took a walk on the Aletsch Glacier.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092916_zpsa7734cbf.jpg

This glacier is the largest of the Alps in terms of area and almost 23 kilometers long. The ice flows at a speed of 180 meters per year towards the Rhone. On Konkordiaplatz the ice thickness is about 900 meters. We were not allowed to leave the path of the glacier under any circumstances. Right and left there are deep crevasses - life threatening. But the outlook was fantastic. This is the Jungfraujoch.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092920_zps52f8d7b4.jpg

If you look closely, you see at the top  the Sphinx - quite small they stuck to the rock.
This is a big glacier demolition.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092928_zps1d3bdaaa.jpg

Then we marveled at various exhibitions

Can you imagine that they need to cool down these halls, which consist only of ice at minus 3 degrees? Because of the body heat of the many tourists.
Then it was time for the return journey. Everyone was tired and fell asleep on the train - we also.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092967_zpsa3c1ca67.jpg

In Kleine Scheidegg we changed train,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092971_zpsca6a5aef.jpg

took one last look at the Eiger and Jungfraujochbahn and went on to Wengen.

This place is famous because of the Lauberhorn downhill skiing. We were looking for the famous ski run - but without snow?

We have not found. The rest of the way we slept in Jasper's bag.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092993_zps7df09ef3.jpg

We were all very tired - but what an adventure.
Many greetings from high above

Jasper's home, Switzerland - 16th May 2013

Hello mum,
when I woke up this morning, I saw a small hippo sitting on our little bench and have breakfast.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5163005_zps2830a5a7.jpg

Jasper introduced us. Ismaya is the name of the hippo and he comes from Bali, Indonesia. It rattles with the teeth because it is so cold here. This morning it was 7 degrees.

Then Ismaya showed us his gifts.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5163012_zpsac9b105e.jpg

Wonderful things from his home country.
We gave him a group hug and greeted him warmly.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5163014_zps9001adb1.jpg

Later we told a lot of our adventures and Ismaya marveled. He is on his first trip.
We will have lots of fun with him when he stops teeth from chattering.
See you soon

Hi mum,
Today Jasper had a surprise for me. After dinner there was a big ice cream in the kitchen.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5193025_zpsad71e202.jpg

For me, all alone.
Vanilla ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5193026_zps841d3e14.jpg

oohh, I had a few small problems,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5193028_zpsc33c2ac1.jpg

but I did it.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5193030_zpsf4252c2d.jpg

It was delicious.

Big enough for my Life Mission?

Sweet greetings from your little panda
Lilo
