Bad Homburg, Germany - 13th November 2013

By: Susie's

Moin Mum,

since the sun was shining for once, host mum took me and Palugtag for a walk in Bad Homburg and showed us the ruins of a roman mansion called Villa Ober Eschbach.
I really enjoy spending time with another TV.  :D

Vienna, Austria - 20th November 2013

By: Djali

Hello Mommy!

I've finally arrived in Vienna after some loooong days in the dark envelope!  :D
After my host mum Djali/Marion got home from work I could finally get out!
As soon, as I was out of my transporter I go inspected by her black cat. A bit scary, but I think we will get along quite well. And maybe I'll also meet her other furry friend: Krümel the hamster - but he is still asleep at the moment.

Djali then showed me what she will do at this rainy cold evening: taking a good book and reading! Good choice I think!  :)

So, good night for today!

Schönbrunn, Vienna, Austria - 23rd November 2013

By: Djali

Hello mum!  :D

Today my hostmum showed me the palace and park of Schönbrunn! Wow!  :D This palace is really huge! At the moment they are setting up the traditional christmas market in front of the palace. It will open next week and maybe I'll go there some day too!

Most of the pics are a bit blurry, but it was quite dizzy and foggy today. We didn't stay long because I started freezing...

http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1004_zps7b7c33ea.jpg

We took a walk through the large park around the palace. It's nice even in winter.
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1001_zpsefcf0751.jpg

My hostmum showed me one of the "curiosities" of the park: colombary with exotic doves and pidgeons. I'm quite happy that they are behind these bars!!  :o
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1000_zpsce0eff48.jpg

In the park there are several small fountains and this big one here. It's called Neptun's Fountain. I really liked it!  :)

Djali made the star herself with many small beads.

Vienna, Austria - 8th December 2013

By: Djali

Hello Mum!

Today is the 2nd advent sunday and my hostmum finally had some time to show me around the inner city a bit!  :cyclops:

http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1017_zps67467ecb.jpg

But first we had a nice late breakfast, before going out into the cold and I was allowed to ride the cat. Well...somehow the look on her face tells me she was not that happy with it...
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1051_zps6a9af48d.jpg

We took the underground to the inner city and Djali showed me the cathedral St. Stephans. We couldn't go inside, but the outside is still very impressive. It's sooo high!
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1020_zps0505a07e.jpg
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1032_zpsbaced30a.jpg
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1030_zpse12a864c.jpg
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1031_zps17df9bde.jpg
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1027_zpsa2a29732.jpg

One of the more frightening details of the cathedral: A skull that serves as candle holder next to a door  :o
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1024_zps01450b00.jpg

Right next to the cathedral there are many carriages for rent. These traditional carriages are called "Fiaker" in German. All of the horses had plankets over their backs so that they don't get cold while waiting.
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1021_zpsfbb36ee3.jpg
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1023_zpse7f8eedb.jpg

We walked through some nice streets with different christimas trees. There are many traditional ones, but also some rather odd ones. Like the tree that was decorated with lots of bookmarks:
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1028_zps6e79a5db.jpg
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1029_zps22cf0292.jpg

The next sight Djali wanted to show me is the Hofburg, the old imperial appartements of the emperors and queens. It's a really huge builing complexe. Today you can visit the imperial appartements, the treasury and also the famous Spanish Riding school there. And in another aisle of the building there are the old National Library and many offices.

http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1034_zps5aec3127.jpg
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1038_zps054fd964.jpg
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1047_zpsd76626c4.jpg

Directly in front of the Hofburg there are some ancient ruins of some roman houses:
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1035_zps56359788.jpg
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1036_zpsdf41fb9f.jpg

At the end of our tour I was really lucky: We arrived by luck at the spanish riding school in time to see the famous Lippizaner horses!  :D Every time after the training and shows in the Riding School they are led over the streets to their stables in a sidestreet for everyone to see. The court with the stables is behing glass so that it's not too loud for the horses in the middle of the city.

http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1043_zps82f2a03a.jpg

Before we went back home, my hostmum allowed me a quick glance on the Opera House:
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1049_zpsbf3d5660.jpg

Now I'm really tired for today and wish you all the best!
See you next time!  :D

Hello Mum!

It's only a few days till Christmas and everyone is getting really excited here!  :cyclops:
Yesterday, my host mum and a friend of her bought a christmas tree and decorated it. My host mum told me, that it is her first christmas tree since several years, because normally she isn't home much over the holidays. But this year, some friends and realtives will come over to her place, so she wanted to get a tree.  :D

Zoo, Vienna, Austria - 29th December 2013

By: Djali

Hello Mum!

I hope, you have a nice Sunday! I enjoyed mine so far :-) This morning my hostmum, a friend of her with her little child went to the Zoo  :D

We got to see lots of animals there, even though many of them hid away in the warm stables instead of being outside.

The Zoo in Vienna is one of the oldest zoos in Europe and at the same time of of the most modern zoo. It's really big and pretty! The zoo is right next to the palace Schönbrunn. During the time of the Habsburgian emperors it was even a part of the palace park.

The big rhino was the first animal we saw:
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1068_zps05abef50.jpg
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1071_zps7950f2e0.jpg

The little boy child of her friend loves all big animals, so we got to see the bisons and the tiger next:
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1073_zpsc3e138f4.jpg

http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1086_zps26ba7dcb.jpg
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1089_zpse1a7322b.jpg

When we started to get cold, we visited the rainforest house. In there it's nice warm with a really humid air. That's why the picture is so foggy
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1081_zps3f986088.jpg

Is was a bit scarred of this big snake, but as it is behind glass it was ok for me.
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1083_zpsac243bb5.jpg

At the end we visited two very different kinds of birds: Penguins and flamingos. I like the flamingos best because they have the same color as I do  ;)

http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1091_zps2d7ca7f6.jpg

In summer, a baby panda bear was born in the zoo - something that is rather extraordinary. And it's already the second panda baby they got here in Vienna! But unfortunately, the panda house was closed, so we couldn't try to get a glimpse of the baby panda. So we took a picture of the statue instead:
http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/DjaliTV/DSCN1090_zps3ba59fa0.jpg

This colorfull bike is the hero of a series of childrens detective stories written by Thomas Brezina, an austrian author. The bike is called Tom Turbo. In the stories, the headquarter of the detectives is under the zoo - that's why they got a statue here in one of the cages:

Have a nice day!
