Travelog for: Froddo

A backyard pond, Australia - 29th April 2007

By: becka_kate

Hello
This is Froddo. He's tired of living in a murky pond in our backyard. He heard about
C.K. jetting off across the world and thought he'd like to travel and see the world too.

Froddo loves eating bugs, swimming, sun bathing and reading poetry. He's tried writing it too, but with only the same old things to look at each day, he's not the greatest poet in the world! Maybe by extending his horizons his skill at poetry will develop too? (His friend the fisherman certainly hopes so!)

Froddo jumped into the car in search of adventure. Sadly, his luck was out as the driver was only going to the local shops to buy stationary for work. Maybe if he hid the glove box he might get his chance?

Froddo left his hiding place in the car and made his way into the house he found himself at. It was a frog paradise. Frogs of all shapes and sizes could be seen every which way he looked!

He was especially taken with this delightfully polite frog who made it his habit to hold the door open for the inhabitants of the house (even when they were not home!). But, he didn't think it would be a job he'd like to do himself as just looking at the walls of the house would not provide a lot of inspiration for his inner poet.

Most excitingly at all was that an oversized Kermit the Frog had made his home here! Holding court in the living room, he drew the attention of everyone who entered the home. Together, Froddo and Kermit discussed how difficult being green could be at times.

He also found a sock featuring the image of his other idol, Keroppi. What a fantastic house for a frog to visit. Suddenly a sound from the other room grabbed his attention.......

A fleet of motorbike riding teddy bears (plus one Simpson) were lined up on the bookshelf in the dining room. Froddo chatted with the biker bears and thought that maybe he'd like to ride a motorbike one day. It definitely looked like a fun way to travel!

Sydney, Australia - 3rd May 2007

Thoughts of travel have helped Froddo get his creative juices flowing, so here we humbly present:

        A Poem
Once there was a little frog
Who wanted to see the world;
Dreaming of where he'd go,
The globe he twirled and twirled.

'Til one day he heard about
An idea just right for he;
He registered with ToyVoyagers
And now the sights he'll see!
                                Froddo

Froddo shared his poetic efforts with some of his fellow ToyVoyagers, who all agreed that his efforts are improving everyday!

Because he's packing his bag (and travelling light), Froddo got out his poetry books to have one last read of his favourite one's.

He really likes the one about a frog and thought Cassiopeia might enjoy the one about the little turtle.

Froddo has started his journey around the world. His friend the fisherman (and his other friends in Australia) can't wait to hear from him!

Froddo appeared in my mail box today.  He is happy to be here.  He appeared to be traveling with Daisy Duck who was also visiting in Texas.  He has his poetry book in hand and is resting before beginning to see Iowa.  It's mid summer here and the corn fields are beautiful.

Here we are back in New Mexico.  Its a little different from our last trip.  We are up in the high desert and its hot and sandy but there are not many trees and not much vegetation.

When we arrived Coney and Rosa were there to greet us.  Rosa said she was just camping up in the mountains above Red River recently.  We are looking forward to seeing a lot of sights with Rosa and Coney.

Daisy Duck has been a wonderful traveling companion.
Our host Wourpet has told me she has a big surprise outing for us next week to a National Park where I will see something very historical.  I wonder what it could be?

San Juan College, New Mexico, USA - 18th September 2007

I went to college.  I was able to sit in on a computer class that my host teaches and in the afternoon she let me help teach.  I met some very nice students and told them all about toy voyagers.

Aztec NM, USA - 18th September 2007

By: wourpet

We went to visit the most incredible old ruins today.  The Aztec Ruins National Park is on sacred ground.  The park became a world heritage site in 1987.
Construction of some of the old buildings dates back to before the 1100's.
The West Ruin was the largest of the buildings and had at least 400 rooms rising 3 stories.
It was a public building like todays civic centers.
The Hubbard Site was built with three walls surrounding a Kiva.  22 rooms were built into the walls.  A Kiva is like a place of worship.
