Travelog for: Savannah

This is my neighbourhood in Porvoo - by the Baltic Sea, in Finland. We have lots of trees to climb on! I've listened the other toyvoyagers at home tell about their adventures and can't wait to start mine. I'm very curious to see how animals, especially cats of all sorts, live in other countries. My mentor-mommy and her kids  hope I'll get back one day too - I'm not even gone yet and they already miss me, sweet! I'll try to send them a postcard from everywhere I go, just telling them I'm ok

This place is called Castle Hill and it has a great view to the Old Town and all the bridges crossing the river. The castle has been here hundreds of years ago but there's no sign of it but the castle moats. Check out the trees! I love climbing on those!

Tomorrow I'll start my journey - I'm going to China first! I'm so excited! I hope I arrive there safely and that I have fun with my host

Hi mom!
I will tell you a biiiiiiig news! I arrived in China today after a long long trip from home !
It's a sunny day here in Beijing and I feel very good!
I'm  surprising to see soooo many people here. And I have made my decision to study Chinese from now on! Today I have got a Chinese word"我是帅小虎(wo shi shuai xiao hu)!" It means I am a handsome tiger! 
I am living in the vicinity of Beijing West Railway Station. My host is a local resident in Beijing. Today I have taken the Beijing subway Line 2 and Line 13, and have seen the beautiful sunset through my room's window at home. My host's little puppy gave me a big kiss and we had rice for dinner.
I will update my blog as soon as possible!

For these days I was so busy traveling and almost forgot to write my travelog here, until my host reminded me to do so.

Savannah Adventures in IKEA




I should tell you that the first day that I went out with my host for shopping in IKEA market, I got a trouble there....
But my host's BF safed me. How brave he was!

A Day As A Designer


Today it is my turn to be a college students! Since my host is a designer, I will try to be as a designer too.


This is a workshop in which they work together everyday, and  I will have a class here.


I guess the young lady in yellow T-shirt is a teacher, and she is communicating with her students about their design works.

After I said hello to my teacher, it is so kind of her to show me around the workshop. There are full of their design models and some posters, very interesting!







Maybe someday in the future I will be back and put my design model on the shelf! 

When class is over, it is time for lunch. I just can not wait for a great Chinese meal!







We have a quick lunch at dining hall. It's too hot today, so I prefer the cold noodles!

On the way home we go to china central mall to have fun!















In this shop we see so many world famous chairs which designed by some 20th century modern designers, including Le Corbusier, Hans Wegner and so on. They are amazing! I think it is a good start for my design career.



And also we take part in a "Creative Fair".

My host got me a cute present for my visit. As you see, it is a handmade painted pottery little tiger. He looks so different from me and soooo small.   He is a traditional Chinase tiger, but I think we can get together just very well! 








I will bring it home and show you how cute it is!

Hello everyone! I' m sure you really want to know what has happened during these days. Now follow me, I cannot wait to tell you my story! ~~

We spend much time walking, walking and walking, because my host told me that you can not understand a city just by seeing places of interest. If you want to be a great voyager and have a deep sight of this city, you'd better walk along the streets and just feel the city by looking around different builings and people, maybe within no goals.











This is Chang An Street which is in the center of Beijing.


And I spend my last weekend on countryside to have a good rest!

Hi there, today I met another guy who has just came back from Turkey. I heard he was a famous artist and a writer in China who named Chen Danqing. But in my eyes he was a voyager just like me.    He gave a speech in Sanlian bookshop, which was organized by National Geography magzine. He talked about his traveling stories in Turkey, and it evoked my great interest! 
















I hope one day I can give a great speech about my traveling around the world just like him! Amazing!

Hi! It's me again! 
This time we took a little trip to the South Lane of percussion which was considered as an old area of Beijing. Here we walked though many Hutongs and I almost lost myself in that. I have never ever seem such pretty buildings before, and I think it would be great if I spend a sweet night in a tradition Chinese Si He Yuan(quadrangle, a compound with traditional Chinese houses of greybricks and tiles built around a courtyard).

驴打滚  soybean cake
艾窝窝  Steamed rice cakes with sweet stuffing
炒肝    Stewed Liver
糖卷果  Chinese yam and date rolls
姜丝排叉 Fried ginger slices
奶油炸糕 Fried butter cake
豌豆黄  Pea cake
蜜麻花  Ear-shaped twists with sugar
豆汁    Fermented mung bean juice

My mouth watered at the sight of these traditional Chinese snacks. Most of these snacks were sweety! BUT....To be honest, the Fermented mung bean juice(Dou Zhen) was tasted very..."interesting".   You could not imagine what it feel like until you have tasted one~~ Even lots of Chinese don't like it because it tasted  really very very strange...  They told me it would be good for healthy, and some people couldn't love it anymore!  But I think it will take a long time for me to get used to it.

You cannot believe that We made our whole decision just in one minute... aha! It is a quick trip~

Hello ererybody!
Last week we went to the seaside for a two days trip. Nandaihe is about 4 hours drive away from Beijing. Here is my picture show!!


















































































We were just wandering at the seaside before sunset, had a wonderful meal at local famer's house, and I felt so comfortable and relax that I didnot want to go back to home actually.

Yeah! A big wedding party !
People said 6.28 was a lucky day both in solar calendar and lunar calendar, so it was chosen as the wedding day. The bride is a cousin of my host. She looked sooo happy and enjoyed her big moment very much. Everybody cheered for the new couple, expressed their good wishes, and I enjoyed my food and sweets.
Let me wish them every joy and the best of everything!

Hey mom! Are you familiar with this place?
Aha! I am inside the Badminton and Gymnastics Competition Hall for Beijing Olympic Games!  Today my host Baiying will help to do a rehearsal of their graduation ceremony. So we have a good chance to have a look inside this building. This is the first time for both of us two to have such a close contact with the building.

Today I went shopping with my host at XiDan where was a wellknown shopping mall in Beijing. It will be very lively here when weekend comes. Both traditional markets and modern ones were located in this district. Some architectures looked unique such as the Da Yue Cheng, which featured irregular geometric shape.
