Denpasar-Bali, Indonesia - 15th December 2012
By: Linda Fdph
Hello Mum
here iam took a picture with traditional music instrument from Bali, called Gamelan Bali.
The Gamelan also have a very stunning woodcut
Gamelan is actually the Javanese word for the bronze instruments, and the music probably came over from Java around the fourteenth century, but the Balinese duly adapted it to suit their own personality, and now the sounds of the Javanese and Balinese gamelan are distinctive even to the untrained ear. Javanese gamelan music is more restrained.
Balinese Gamelan is highly structured compositions are in fact produced by a group of 25 or more musicians seated cross-legged on the ground at a variety of bronze percussion instruments - gongs, metallophones, and cymbals with a couple of optional wind and stringed instruments tuned either to a five-or (less commonly) a seven-tone scale, and most are performed at an incredible speed. One recent study of a gamelan performance found that each instrumentalist played an average of seven notes per second.

Bajra Sandhi -Bali, Indonesia - 26th January 2013
By: Linda Fdph
Hello
In the beginning of nextweek , i will leave Bali, to continue my new journey. But before i leave Bali, i must visit Bajra Sandhi Monument, one of the iconic building in Bali.
The architecture of the monument is very unique, taking the shape of Bajra or Genta, a bell that used by Hindu Priests during religious ceremonies. It is also a symbol of the bond between males and females that creates prosperity according to the epic that tells the story of the Gods struggle to get the Water of Eternity.
Every statue and each carving in the monument compound has its own meaning. The whole of the monument symbolizes Mount Mandara where, according to the epic Mahabarath, the Gods had a battle with giants fighting for the Water of Eternity

Hey mom,
Sorry that it has taken so long for my new host mom to post (I had forgotten my password - oopphs!)
Here is me arriving...
And this is what I gave to my host mom, Jemma.
I arrived on laast Saturday afternoon; which if I had arrived on the Friday I would have been able to go to a Cheerleading training session. Jemma says we'll go next week!
Love you

By: JemmaJ
Hey mom,
The last feww days it has been horrid here; the weather that is! Jemma and I have not been able to do anything fun!
I helped Jemma with her Postcrossing postcards; which was fun. Jemma said that she had made the cards herself. Jemma has two cats; Sam and Gizmo. I thought that I would have a chat with them...However, Gizmo was not impressed! Jemma asked me to help her with making a decision on what her and her mom could have for dinner. Here is me in the freezer looking...it was really cold.

I did hope that it would stop!
So we went back home and Jemma taught me how to knit. Do you see what we did?
