Rangler is a young pinto miniature horse looking for cowboy adventure.
Rangler has aquired a taste for chocolate. Please if you can, take him to the wonderful chocolate factories or stores of the world to show him how chocolate is made and let him have a little nibble too.
Rangler would like for you to send home a post card with a western scene on it from his hosts so that his mentor can add them to his travel journal at home. His postcards will always be shown here when each one is received.
If you can't find one perhaps you can take his photo doing something in western theme and make a card out of it.
If you are interested in entertaining our very clever little horse please let us know. He is ready to hit the trail.

Eugene, Oregon, USA - 11th September 2007

Rangler being a restless little cowpoke had wondered into the garden (where there is usally wild game) to see what he could rustle up. There he found a strange little yellow rabbit on the loose. Little did he know that it was Bigoudi a voyager just like himself.
He didn't care who it was. He was running and hiding and Rangler knew he had to capture him before he got away.
As Rangler approached he noticed that the little rabbit tried to hide from him. Rangler being an experienced little cowpoke knew just what to do.
STOP! Put your hands up! If you don't stop I will wrestle you to the ground and tie you like the other wild little doggies.
Bigoudi was laughing to think this little cowpoke could catch such a fast yellow rabbit but before he knew it he jumped and there he was with hands in the air screaming that silly tune he does when he gets over excited. The words were coming out like music and Rangler knew he had him now.
Bigoudi surrendered to Rangler as he feared he might never get to travel again. Little did he know that Rangler is a kind and gentle little cowpoke and saw only game in catching this little rabbit.
Soon Rangler untied him and Bigoudi and Rangler discussed their future voyages they were getting ready to venture into.
They became good friends. although Rangler never did understand much of what the little yellow rabbit was saying as Rangler never did learn French and Bigoudi never did understand what "little doggies" ment.
But all in all they promised to stay in cowboy reach and let each know of the others journeys through the years.
Bigoudi had always wanted to ride a wild pony so he asked Rangler just before he left if it was possible to ride on his beautiful pony?
Why sure little guy said Rangler. Go right ahead and enjoy the ride. Watch your step though---he might throw ya!
***************************************************
Rangler's voyages are just beginning. He is a fun little cowpoke that will wonder the range in search for more little doggies to round up. His adventures in travel will take him first to the great "Outback" where he hopes to meet up with some Rounders there to discuss his home on the range in the big USA.
We thank others in advance for taking care of our little Rangler and to enjoy his company. He's one fine little cowpoke!

IT'S ROUND-UP TIME!!!
Rangler arrived in Stroud early this morning, and had his passport stamped at the local Post Office.
He was mortally offended however when the PO owner took him for a donkey!
It was everything I could do to stop him hog-tying her hands together as she stamped his passport!
The little cowpoke was so riled by this experience I didn't think it was a good time to tell him that my camera batteries have died...and that there is nowhere in Stroud I can replace them...

Nik borrowed these from Dilbert's Travel Log (and Rangler doesn't know why she didn't think to use them while she had no batteries)
Rangler is not too fond of Dilbert. He stole Rangler's bedroll, so our little cowboy simply lassoed him!
Nik tried to explain Dilbert was just looking for bones to chew, but she's not sure if they're going to smooth things over!

We have camera batteries
It's also Nik's birthday today! Rangler wanted to go out and rope her a mustang for a present. Nik thought that was very thoughtful, so she didn't point out that wild horses are called 'brumbies' in Australia...or that there aren't any around Stroud
So Rangler let Nik give him a kiss and cuddle instead.
It was all go, what with presents and cards turning up in the mail, along with two more TVs! Boone Racoon and Twinette Kani have arrived!
Nik's mum took them all out into the yard to pick some flowers for Nik's birthday.

Rangler wasn't that impressed about being made to pose for this photo (Rama's pink and white daffodils have flowered!) but he was good sport

After all the excitement, Rangler was finally able to welcome Boone Racoon and Twinette Kani
He and Kani hit it off straight away! And when Rangler saw how nervous Boone and his little mate Beak were, he got Boone talking about his travel journal, and showed off his own passport.
Rangler has grudgingly forgiven Dilbert for stealing his beautiful fluffy bedroll - provided he never does it again!

Nik has been very busy lately! She's a full-time carer and things suddenly got frantic recently. And this week she has been sick!
*Excuses, excuses* Rangler snorts to himself as Nik promises to get back into the TV groove as soon as she's a little more recovered!

Rangler got a taste of a real Aussie treat! Nik's mum made lamingtons (a rare event!)
Plain butter cake is cut in squares and dipped in a thick chocolate mixture, made from cocoa, then rolled in coconut - yum!!

Rangler has been paying close attention to updates on the Equine Influenza sweeping through New South Wales since he arrived in Australia.
He saw this sign on his way to Stroud from Sydney Airport - he was actually breaking the law by coming to Stroud!
But now there are new developments with vets recommending the flu be allowed to run its course, which will result in the epidemic ending sooner.
Stroud has been included in the declaration of Purple Zones in the Hunter Valley (which mean horse transportation within Purple Zones is now allowed and encouraged)...

...so Nik made Rangler get his EI vaccination. He was Not Impressed, even after Nik showed him her Certficate in Animal Care.
Most horses are injected in the neck or shoulder, but Rangler was being stubborn...

Poor little cowboy. We won't say there were a couple of tears, but we won't say there weren't either.

Ahem. Rangler was soothed (or bribed, depending on which side you're on) with a treat of a Caramello Koala.
Rangler's mum Bun Traveler sent Nik a great postcard, (Thank you!) and she promised Rangler she'd help him scan and upload it into his Travelog:
