Travelog for: Kunigunde

Merzig, Germany - 20th March 2009

By: Apperveilchen

Hello world!
I'm a
hyperactive little pig. My name is Kunigunde, but you may call me Kuni, Gundi or Gunda for short. I detest being called "Miss Piggy". Please keep me active, I absolutely cannot stay still. I haven't ever tried Ritalin or any other drugs for my condition but who needs those when they can just use the energy to travel the world instead.

Hi again,

I think it's now time to introduce you to the family.

Vicky is the mom, she is teaching computers in high school and she loves any kind of crafts!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0575.jpg

Aris is the dad, he is a computer programmer and his hobby is electronics and music.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0576.jpg

Maria is the 3 years old little girl. She is playing with her toys all day and she loves Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse and Tinkerbell.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0572.jpg

Konstadinos is the baby boy, he is only 10 months old but he can already walk! He plays with his cars and he usually destroys everything that comes in his way!  :cyclops:

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0565.jpg

OK, now I have to help Vicky to prepare lunch so I'll update later

Take care
Gunda

Today we helped Vicky to prepare lunch.
Stuffed zucchini, a typical Greek food.
She fist cut the zucchini in half and made holes in them.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0584.jpg

Then she prepared the filling using onion, mince, rice, olive oil, salt, pepper, parsley and dill.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0585.jpg

We helped her to put the filling

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0591.jpg

and then they were ready for the casserole
http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0593.jpg

So here it is, ready with a lemon sauce ...

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0594.jpg

One for each one of us!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0596.jpg

Yummy

bye for now!

Hi mom,
today the weather is great.Warm and sunny. Spring is finally here!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0709.jpg

So we took the bike and went to the park, to smell the flowers and enjoy the sun.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0710.jpg

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0711.jpg

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0652.jpg

The park is next to the marina, so we went to admire the yachts and the sailing boats! I wish I was in one of them and go to the Greek islands!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0714.jpg

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0715.jpg

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0734.jpg

On our way back we saw this small orthodox church. White walls and blue doors is common style of churches and houses in the Greek islands.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0740.jpg

It was a great day!

Orthodox Easter is this Sunday, so we dye eggs today! The traditional way and the modern way!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_1023.jpg

In Greece they dye them red, to symbolize the stones they were thrown to Jesus and they were painted red by his blood.
No egg hunts here mom, but they have another very funny custom involving the eggs that you will see on Sunday!

So here is a way to dye red eggs the traditional way! You will love it if you are into organic and biological foods!

You boil water with skins from dry onions.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_1025.jpg

and there you have it! Red dye!
http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_1038.jpg

And here is how we made designs on the eggs! By placing flowers and leaves on the eggs, hold them in place with net fabric and tie the fabric with thread.

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_1031.jpg

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_1033.jpg

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_1034.jpg

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_1035.jpg

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_1036.jpg

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_1039.jpg

so here is the result! not bad for a totally natural way don't you think?!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_1040.jpg

Well we also used red dye from the market for others...

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_1051.jpg

Afissos, Greece - 19th April 2009

Hi mom!

Today we had a great day! We drove from Volos to Afissos, a small traditional village at the roots of the mountain Pilion.

Take a look at the photos we took when we were driving to get there!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0951.jpg

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0959-1.jpg

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0962-1.jpg

A typical summer house

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0968.jpg

And this is Afissos, beautiful, small and peaceful!

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_1010.jpg

The village center

A yard of one of the houses there

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0988.jpg

Look mom! A lemon tree, can you see the lemons?

http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/vickypgr/toyvoyagers/IMG_0990.jpg

Sunbathing on the pebble beach!

Sülfeld, Germany - 7th May 2009

By: RikeH

Hello Mum,

today I arrived in Sülfeld, back in Germany again.  :D

There were some TVs sitting in their armchair. Can you imagine, that the TVs have their own armchair here?

Well, I said hello and we talked a lot.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/Kunigunde/IMG_6734.jpg

Because we were hungry we ate a big Pizza,

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/Kunigunde/IMG_6731.jpg

but it was to big for us...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/Kunigunde/IMG_6733.jpg

Then Rike took us to the playground.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/Kunigunde/IMG_6740.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/Kunigunde/IMG_6741.jpg

We had a lot of fun together.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/Kunigunde/IMG_6747.jpg

Now we will talk about our adventures.

Love
Kuni
