Glasgow, Scotland - 5th October 2008
By: Szandra
After a very short flight, we arrived from Dublin to Glasgow!!! And after we occupied our hotel room, we sill had the half of the day! I enjoyed walking in the city and it's always interesting to discover totally new places!
We saw the Necropolis and the Cathedral. These were very close to the hotel. When I looked out from the window, I could see them. And we went inside of the cathedral... it was so magical, such a nice place with a lot of positive energy!
And along our way to the center, we saw also an old school buliding.

Balloch, Loch Lomond, Scotland - 7th October 2008
By: Szandra
We went by bus to Balloch to see the famous lake, Loch Lomond.
Did you know that Loch Lomond has the largest surface area of fresh water Loch in the UK?! And the Loch is 24 miles long and five miles wide and at its deepest point is some 600 feet deep.
We went inside also to the Loch Lomond Aquarium. Very nice experience!

Dublin, Ireland - 8th October 2008
By: Szandra
We arrived rather early from Glasgow to Dublin, so we had enough time to look around and see the main sights.
Among others we saw the Trinity College, the Saint Stephen's Green Park (wow, that was really a beautiful place with a lot of green! ), visited the Dublin Castle, got pictured even with Oscar Wilde, walked thru the Ha' Penny Bridge and so on...

For my big happiness we visited the zoo in Lillafüred!
It's in the middle of the forest, so really beautiful surroundings. And I just loved it a lot to meet with animals!!

Pontypridd, Wales, UK - 4th December 2008
By: Artwyrd
Well, I've arrived safe and sound, and here I am arriving.
And I find myself in the middle of a pile of arty stuff! My host, Angela, is experimenting with polymer clay ... it looks fun and messy! I'm just going to watch though for now - it's been a long journey.

Caerphilly, my hosts school, Wales, UK - 5th December 2008
By: Artwyrd
My host, Angela, too me with her to work today. She's a teacher of pupils aged 11 to 16. Most of her classes have special educational needs, and she teaches them science.
Here are some photos of her room.
I also met and helped some of her pupils with their work. There's some photos of me doing this too.
Her year 8 class (aged 12 to 13 years old) were intrigued by ToyVoyagers and they've asked if they can have one of their own! They've decided they'd like a penguin to go travelling - I hope to meet the penguin before they go a-wandering or I move along to my next host.

Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway, Wales, UK - 14th December 2008
By: Artwyrd
What an exciting day! I spent the day with my host at the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway.
It was very cold there - it's the highest standard guage station in England and Wales, so it gets rather chilly there. I hope on a warmer day I'll be able to get some photographs of the railway itself, but today Angela was busy, very busy, working on the train that was taking people to visit Santa Claus. I heard her play lots of seasonal music on her flute, and chat to visitors and staff. There was lots of laughter and fun as well.
The locomotive providing the traction was a Bagnall 0-4-0 Steam locomotive, called "No19 Devonport Docks". I met the day's engine driver who held me for a photograph. I think they had the warmest place on the train - next to the firebox with the hot fire in.
I also met a very special and very famous person - Santa Claus himself! I'm all excited and christmassy now! I wonder if I can find some tinsel to wear as a scarf.

Thessaloniki, Greece - 25th January 2009
By: vickyp
Hi mom!
I am having a great time, sorry for not updating for more that a week. I have a lot to tell you about, so I'll start by introducing you to some typical Greek food!
Here in Greece they follow the Mediterranean diet, meaning a lot of vegetables, olive oil and fish.
Well here are some photos I've taken during the last days
Picture1: we are cooking, so I am standing next to a HUGE bottle of olive oil... a must have here
Picture2: "dolmadakia" grape leafs with rice and "papoutsakia" aubergines staffed with mince and bessamel on top!
Picture3: Feta cheese, typical Greek cheese
Picture4: Grilled Octopus ... delicious !!!
Picture5: Fried fish
Picture6: shrimps in a stick
so that's it for now, I'll update again tomorrow with photos of the city!
Love ya mom!
Skippy

I am learning Greek!
It's so difficult! The grammar, the vocabulary even the alphabet!
But I am a fast learner so here is what I wrote today!
"'Good morning from Greece! How are you?"
