Travelog for: Woezel

Alkmaar, the Netherlands - 29th April 2008

By: Eryah

Hello everyone!

My friend Pip and i decided to go on trail because we wanna spread joy and happiness all over the world.

We are caracters from a story for children here in Holland.
The woman who brings us to life is Guusje Nederhorst. For many years Guusje played in a soap called "Goede tijden slechte tijden'' (good times bad times).
In 2002 she discovered her real passion: writing stories for children. That was the beginning of Woezel and Pip. Two inseparable dogs who experience funny and sometimes naughty adventures.
The little novels are a big hit here in Holland.
Unfortunally Guusje never had the change to see how many children enjoy the adventures of Woezel and Pip. She got breast cancer and died in 2004. Her husband set up the Guusje Nederhorst foundation as a memory for her creative, headstrong and brave personality.

You can imagine this is a great opportunity for me to have a lot more adventures. Pip and i decided to each go our own way. When we come home we can tell each other our adventures. How great is that!

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/boeken001.jpg
Here we are at home and talk to the TV's who are visiting Eva right now. It was great to hear their stories!

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/boeken010.jpg
Here we are sitting in the book closet. Eva has many stories for children so it's always a pleasure to be here and read those novels.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/boeken009.jpg
And this is Pip (left one) and me (right one).

I can't wait to start my journey!

Big hugs Woezel (and Pip)

Tallinn, Estonia - 12th May 2008

By: MarionJ

Helloo everyone!
I'm finally here in Tallinn, my first adventure has begun!
The white envelope was luckily so soft and cosy
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/maikuu008.jpg
The first estonian I met was Stuart the Lion who's just about to leave home for the first time too. From the moment I got out of the envelope he started asking sooo many questions! He talks very much  :p
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/maikuu020.jpg

Well, I'm a bit sleepy now so I'd better get some rest.
I can't wait for tomorrow, to see what it's like outside!

Yours,
Woezel.
Woof!

Tallinn, Estonia - 14th May 2008

By: MarionJ

Tere!
(This is the first estonian word I learnt and it means "hello")

These past two days I've been taking walks around the neighbourhood just to get to know this place. My host lives in a quiet area that's called the New World district. She has told me many interesting things about this district. Many poets live here, also other kind of artists; many environmental lectures take place here also, different festivals promoting ecological way of life and so on. A very nice place :)

Here I am near the depot of trams, there's a big "tram" which states that the first tramway built in Tallinn was in 1888.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/14mai004.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/14mai005.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/14mai014.jpg
Here I am just posing, we had a little photoshoot and my host told me I was very photogenic (of course, there is a book about me even!). This picture I dedicate to my mentor and to Pip also!
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/14mai018.jpg

And because the weather was nice, we stopped under a viaduct/crossover and sat on the sidewalk just staring into the distance. (It looks very sci-fi ;))
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/14mai023.jpg

Ok, tomorrow is the annual Tallinn Day so we're going down town to check things out! Ooooh, but it's going to be a wonderful day, I know it. I feel it in my bones  B)

Bye everyone!
Wwwwwoezel.

Tallinn, Estonia - 16th May 2008

By: MarionJ

Hey!

The weather is nice still, but a bit windy. I'm sure it'll get warmer again, like always :)
Yesterday (15.05) was the annual Tallinn Day and we went to see many concerts that were held on the Raekoja plats (City hall square)
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/16mai005.jpg
We also had a look around the center of the town.
Here I'm in the new shopping area near the harbour (we'll visit it later, my host told me), it's called the Rotermann district. (They are still building a part of it so it'll get bigger in some time)
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/16mai011.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/16mai001.jpg
And on my way down
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/16mai009.jpg
Here I am in the Old Town again, behind me is the Niguliste church, which interior is one of the most beautiful in Estonia (unfortunately they didn't allow any dogs.. but we'll try again)
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/16mai002.jpg
Ok, so here is the Nõelasilma käik - the Needle eye passage - which was opened last summer. They dug it up again and restored it the way it was before the II WW.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/16mai003.jpg
They also have a short movie there which you can watch - it's about the street where the passage is.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/16mai020.jpg
Then we went to the Youth and Puppet Theatre
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/16mai016.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/16mai015.jpg
In the Old Town the streets are usually like this (well, like in many european cities)
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/16mai014.jpg

Okay! Here you have many pictures of me and Tallinn already  B)
But still there's much to see, also in the Old Town. So we'll visit it again many times (my host lives only a 15-minute walk away from it and she likes to walk :)).
I can't wait to check out Pip's travels! So now I'll go and look them up, hehe.

Wooof!
Woezel

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/20mai018.jpg
He was sooooo tired, but we didn't let him rest  B)
We were off to have a walk in the Old Town, to check out the viewing platforms.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/20mai001.jpg
Behind me is the Niguliste church again, but from a different viewpoint ;)
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/20mai002.jpg
ere I am on another platform, the view is very nice. More trees on this side.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/20mai008.jpg
Here I'm sitting on a statue of a pigeon; these kind of statues are place all over the Old Town.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/20mai013.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/20mai014.jpg
And here we dropped by my host's friend's place and she was making a wok.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/20mai005.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/20mai016.jpg

Okay, when Chester wakes up tomorrow, I'll tell him more stories. And we'll see what the next days will bring.

Bye everyone and Pip too!
Woeeeezel.

Tallinn, Estonia - 26th May 2008

By: MarionJ

So, what is new around here?
The weather is very nice, although windy, so I've got a little sneeze.
My host Marion has gone crazy - embroidering all the time  :cyclops: She says she has a plan, but I wouldn'be so sure about it. We'll see what happens or if I need to get some help..
Here I'm with Chester and the embroidery she has finished by now.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/25mai002.jpg

We also went to see the national football stadium (or soccer, if you prefer). The A Le Coq Arena (it's named after a beercompany that's their biggest sponsor, pfff).
It is situated near railways and always when there's a big game and a train passes by, the conductor makes toot-toot.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/25mai009.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/25mai018.jpg

Well, this week will be great because we have a trip planned. I won't tell you more about it, you'll soon hear about it yourself  B)

Tartu, Estonia - 24th June 2008

By: MarionJ

Ahoy, to all of you around the world!

My host has been really busy organizing some camps for youngsters, so we haven't had much time to go around. But we were in Tartu which is the second biggest city in Estonia. It's also in the south of the country and the busride takes about 2,25 hours, so not very much. Luckily Estonia is quite small :) When the bus drove from Tallinn to Tartu, all I could see on the way were forests! Forests and fields and small houses. Every once in a while a smaller town and some gas stations, but nothing more. Everywhere was green!
It rained all the time there! As I heard from the news, apparently it rains almost everywhere in Europe right now. :D
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni004.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni005.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni007.jpg
This is the pedestrian bridge in Tartu
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni006.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni013.jpg
The river of Emajõgi (Mother's river) runs through Tartu. Actually there's two of them, the Small and the Big one, the big one goes through the city.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni018.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni024.jpg
The pig that stands in front of the old market house (which still works), with Veggies and Chester
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni020.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Chester/24juuni021.jpg
This is the town hall and the town square in Tartu
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni028.jpg
In front of it is the famous statue of kissing students.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni032.jpg
Also a funny house, built like that, crooked or what's the word. But it's like that only from the outside, inside the floors are in level with the normal ground.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni031.jpg
We are resting here, Chester and Veggies too
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni035.jpg
The University of Tartu, the most famous and oldest one here
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni038.jpg
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll134/naljakas/Woezel/24juuni039.jpg
And the theater Vanemuine. Estonian people go to theater all the time, the tickets are sold out in the first days. :)
