I've spent Christmas Holydays in France at Nuryko's home. There was snowing. It reminds me home !

The day after Christmas, we go out to see the snow and we've found a little Christmas village.

Conwy, Wales - 26th March 2011

By: miapearl

Today, we have come to Conwy.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNunDVtbJI/AAAAAAAADLs/NSs5nPnw4T8/renconwy1.jpg
We stopped off at the Royal National Lifeboat Institute station in Conwy, and made a donation.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNunuZTByI/AAAAAAAADLw/2eXhPUqFkL4/renconwy2.jpg
Do you see that little red-painted house down there? That is Britain's smallest house.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNuoL6dQoI/AAAAAAAADL0/nOFaG7BwhvI/renconwy3.jpg
Conwy is a walled town. We are at the start of the wall, overlooking the Conwy estuary.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNuoju8ILI/AAAAAAAADL4/cqVfxBLQ0tw/renconwy4.jpg
Can you see Conwy Castle in the background?
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNupCPN4DI/AAAAAAAADL8/-_hyMXKR-gs/renconwy5.jpg
We are very high up here!
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNuima6Z4I/AAAAAAAADLU/JjjGrdsYbew/brfconwy1.jpg
Look what we found! A small geocache!
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNujAse5rI/AAAAAAAADLY/AgsX13Kt0Uo/brfconwy2.jpg
That was the tower we were high up.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNupoLS-jI/AAAAAAAADMA/0y4N6oUFkcg/renconwy6.jpg
The castle was built for King Edward in Gwynedd and is listed, along with the town walls as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNuqTwYKvI/AAAAAAAADME/Jw25EBKqv9o/renconwy7.jpg
We didn't have time to go around the castle.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNuqqWbk3I/AAAAAAAADMI/vTPhXcLv5yg/rendeganwy1.jpg
We have come to the other side of the River Conwy to the site of another castle about a mile and a half away, though not much remains of Deganwy Castle. It is a bit murky, but perhaps you can make out the bridge and even the castle.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNuj7CEQYI/AAAAAAAADLc/oAkV94cbEW0/deganwycache1.jpg
It's another geocache.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNukX8vILI/AAAAAAAADLg/PMwPT0nLabc/deganwycache2.jpg
It has been a good day.

Parc Dudley, near Caernarfon, Wales - 27th March 2011

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNumq94qDI/AAAAAAAADLo/znszAIzqDAw/rendud1.jpg
There was also treasure to be found!
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZNuh7UT6KI/AAAAAAAADLQ/c8RltF9XGrA/dudley2.jpg
A geocache!

Home, Wales - 31st March 2011

By: miapearl

Some of the toys are going away on their travels tomorrow, so we thought we'd have a game of Cluedo playing in teams
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TZThuChdjUI/AAAAAAAADMo/IpnzWLq0C_U/IMAG0836.jpg
However, we spent far too much time chatting instead of concentrating on the game and we all drew the 8th clock leaving the crime unsolved.

Laranjeiro, Portugal - 11th April 2011

By: Eohippus

Hi again, mom! Hello, everybody! Guess what! I’m in Portugal! :-D The trip here was rather fast and actually I enjoyed it, but it was great to come here and meet my newest hosts – Henna and her TV Veronica.

http://i10.aijaa.com/b/00928/7862720.jpg

It is already full summer here and very hot, and Henna loaned  me this straw hat to avoid a sunstroke. :-D

http://i10.aijaa.com/b/00858/7862721.jpg
Here I’m taking a look of my new surroundings out from the balcony.

http://i10.aijaa.com/b/00866/7862722.jpg

Then I went for a short walk with Veronica.

http://i2.aijaa.com/b/00746/7862723.jpg

http://i10.aijaa.com/b/00111/7862724.jpg

We were walking along the Tejo riverside. It is the most important river in Portugal. The old roman scriptures called it Tagus. http://i9.aijaa.com/b/00681/7862841.jpg

Almada, Portugal - 11th April 2011

By: Eohippus

Boa tarde!  :D That means "Good evening!" in portuguese.

It is very hot day today, about 27 degrees celsius, and we are moving rather slowly and creeping from shade to shade. Especially Henna and Veronica, who just arrived from Finland, where there was about zero degrees and lots of snow, are having troubles.

http://i6.aijaa.com/b/00886/7866440.jpg

http://i8.aijaa.com/b/00314/7866441.jpg
So we continued our explorations today in Almada, which is a smallish city in the southern bank of river Tejo, just opposite the capitol city of Lisbon.

http://i3.aijaa.com/b/00433/7866516.jpg
We saw some interesting graffitis on the walls on our way.

http://i55.tinypic.com/1znmxy9.jpg
And thewe wonderfull carnations and many more flowers and blooming trees.  :)

Then we popped to see a small art exhibition about plants in illustrations.

There was a nice view over the old part of Almada from the art museum yard.

Lisbon, Portugal - 17th April 2011

By: Eohippus

Olá!  :D

That is how people here say "Hi!" So, hi mom and everyone else, how are you? I´m having fun and getting used to the heat.

We have been walking around seeing the sights of Lisbon, the capitol city of Portugal. It is actually very interesting city - it has existed in about the same spot from the bronze age onwards.  :o

http://i4.aijaa.com/b/00558/7901398.jpg
This is Praça do Comércio, one of the main squares, that in former times worked as a market place for all the products the portuguese ships were bringing from other parts of the world.

http://i3.aijaa.com/b/00068/7901397.jpg
This is "Elevador de Santa Justa" - an important turist attraction, a 30 meters high metal construction, which looks a bit like the Eiffel tower and connects two city parts. When it opened in 1902 it was running buy steam power, but nowadays it runs by electricity.

http://i3.aijaa.com/b/00661/7901399.jpg
This is one of the famous Lisbon trams.  :D

http://i10.aijaa.com/b/00293/7901400.jpg
It is a joy to take a driwe with one of the trams, especially in summertime when the windows are open and we can sit an hang our hands or heads outside.  ;)

http://i5.aijaa.com/b/00750/7901396.jpg
There is lots of little shops selling traditional handicrafts in the centrum area.

We took the tram to the upper part of the city and walked to see the beautiful view over the city and the river Tejo.

http://i3.aijaa.com/b/00310/7903626.jpg

There is nice shady spots to stay and rest a bit in hot days.  :)
http://i2.aijaa.com/b/00966/7903628.jpg

http://i5.aijaa.com/b/00814/7903627.jpg
And many interesting lookin narrow alleys and lots of stairs everywhere - Lisbon is built over seven hills.

http://i5.aijaa.com/b/00203/7903629.jpg
This is a view from the Parque Eduardo VII. There is beautiful trees growing in the side areas of it.

http://i5.aijaa.com/b/00003/7903630.jpg
Like this wonderful blooming Judas tree.  :)
