I was just admring the scenery from the Gateshead Millennium Bridge in Newcastle when I made a new friend! I seem to have spent a long time on a train and think I must be somewhere in the south.....

It turns out I'm in Bristol!
My hosts seem very nice, and I've already made friends with their cat!
They have said I can stay with them for as long as I like, and as they're planning to do quite a lot of travelling around the uk in the next few weeks, I think I'll stay for at least that long!
I'm planning to go sight seeing in Bristol soon... and hopefully take a few photos!

Cannock, UK - 23rd August 2007
By: DQ
Today I helped my host pack a big suitcase for a long weekend. We thought it would be good practice for when I get to travel to far off places (although I think I might have to learn to pack a bit lighter... I couldn't lift up their heavy case!).
In the afternoon we drove up to Cannock. Cannock chase is very nice with lots of trees and deer! I felt very at home in the woods, but was sad not to see any deer. DQ thinks it might be because deer are scared of bears! I can't image why they would be scared of me!

We went to a wedding in Nottingham today!
I was hoping to see a bit of Nottingham... but we got a bit lost on the way to the church so we ran out of time! I saw the river trent and two universities from the car window though!
The wedding was very lovely. I tried to get into a couple of photos, but DQ wasn't sure whether they would fully appreciate pictures of a stranger (and not even a human one!!) on their wedding day!

London, UK - 25th August 2007
By: DQ
I knew we were off to London today.... the capital!! So I was very excited and tried to wake up DQ and the other host as early as possible! They didn't seem very pleased to be awake so early.
Once we got going we headed off down the motorway, which is not very exciting, so I had a bit of a sleep.
London is very very big... it took us an hour an half to get from the edge of the city to where we were going! We managed to do a bit of sightseeing... I saw tower bridge, london bidge, the thames, the golden hinde (which is a big, old boat, not a deer!), the london eye, big ben, the millennium bridge (which is the 2nd millennium bridge I've been to!), and St Paul's cathedral!
In the evening my hosts went to a 30th birthday party... but I was a bit tired from all the travelling... so I stayed at their friend's house. Just think of all the places I'll have travelled to by the time I'm 30!! Wow!

Off to Winchester today to visit DQ's sister!
Winchester is very pretty, and DQs sister (who studied history at university, so knows all about these things) says that it used to be the capital of england in the olden days!
While we were there we went to the cathedral which is enormous!

Had a great day in the New forest today!
It's soooo pretty, and I love being in the woods! There are lots of different coloured ponies all over the place and some of them have babies! (DQ says the babies are called foals. She tried to teach me the names of all the colours too... but it's a bit confusing! I don't understand why a white horse is called 'grey' and brown horses have about 30 names!)
We found a big open space and decided to fly a kite! It's really big! I watched my hosts flying it for a little while, then I was allowed a go!! It was very exciting... but I was glad they didn't let go of me. I think I would have flown away!!

We had a nice quiet weekend doing some DIY at home in Bristol! I did as much as I could (because they obviously need the help!!) and think I might have built up some new muscles from lifting all that equipment (it's very heavy when you're as small as me!)! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some more exciting travels soon!!

Belfast, N. Ireland - 7th September 2007
By: DQ
Today I flew to Belfast in Northern Ireland! My host had to go there for work so agreed to take me along! I wasn't really supposed to be there, so I had to peer out of the bag now and again to see what was going on!!
His boss can fly planes so we went in a tiny 2 seater all the way over the irish sea!! It was quite cold up that high, but the views were amazing!! We flew in over Strangford lough which is a very pretty place where lots of seals and other marine things live! Of course I tried to see them, but we were too high up!
When we got to the work place there were lots of VERY big cranes and things for building even bigger stuff!!
So I've had a bit of a taster of what Ireland is like! I hope I can go back some day and see lots more! And I'd definitely like to travel to Southern Ireland too! One step closer to one of my lifetime's ambitions!!!

Cardiff, Wales - 10th September 2007
By: DQ
Well, having gone to work with my other host on friday, DQ decided I could go to work with her today!
She's a scientist, so I had a look around the lab, tried on a white coat (it was a bit big though!), looked down a microscope, and held a tube with some DNA in!!
The best bit about the trip was that she works in Cardiff! So I got to go to Wales! She decided it was ok to sneak off a bit early... so we went into the city centre and saw the castle (which is covered in flags from all over the world! I hope I might get to see some of them in their own country!!). Then we went to see the Millennium stadium which is where Wales play all their home rugby games, and some of the world cup games are on there at the moment! We walked down beside the stadium next to the river Taff (which is apparently why Welsh people sometimes get given the nic-name 'taffy'!). There were lots of mosaics on the path, and I decided to have a rest next to the welsh one! DQ told me the Dragon is the national symbol for Wales!! I got quite excited because I've never seen a Dragon before! But DQ told me they haven't seen any Dragons around here for quite a while, and they don't even have one in a zoo! Oh well!

Ware, UK - 14th September 2007
By: DQ
Today we went to a wedding in Ware! It's a friday, so DQ and my other host (Monty) had to take the day off work. They both said they didn't mind too much! It was Monty's cousin who was getting married, and her husbands family are scottish, so there was a man in a kilt playing the bagpipes when we arrived! DQ (who say's she's scottish even though she hasn't lived in scotland since she was 2!!) liked it a lot! I thought it was very loud... but good!
After some dancing we went back to Monty's family's house in Cannock, which took quite a while because we had to queue in traffic... even in the middle of the night!! It was ok though, because I slept most of the way back!

Edale, UK - 16th September 2007
By: DQ
The weather was lovely today so we all went for a walk. We drove through lots of hills and dales, and ended up in a very pretty little place called Edale. Then we had a nice long walk up to a place called Mam tor which had amazing views! We saw quite a lot of people on mountain bikes. They were all covered in mud but it looked really exciting when they set off down the hills!!
Two of our friends have children so they were carried up the hills in big rucksacs! It looked like hard work! DQ said she is glad I'm so small and light and I don't wriggle around!!
