Binle Posted Mar 18, 2012, 10:45 am |
Hi mum
last week I finally arrived in Liechtenstein. The journey was very exhausting, but now I'm very happy to be here. Here are also some other TVs and they are very friendly to me. |
Binle Posted Apr 2, 2012, 11:03 am |
Hi mummy
Yesterday we went to Vaduz, the capitol city of Liechtenstein. We saw the "Fürstenschloss" and the old and the new "Regierungsgebäude". The day was very sunny, but the wind was a little bit cold that day. Bye bye. miss you very much. |
Binle Posted Apr 3, 2012, 8:14 pm |
Hi mum,
now I'm in Bischofszell in Switzerland. Binle lives here during the week, because she works here. Soon it is Easter and I hope I find a Easternest like this. I'm excited. Your Elisa |
Binle Posted Apr 8, 2012, 8:56 pm |

Binle Posted Apr 18, 2012, 10:57 am |
Hi mum,
Today Binle showed me where I am just now. We took a Atlas and she showed me where Liechtenstein is. She told me that here only 36'000 people live and that the capitol city is Vaduz. It has a size of 160km2. That is really tiny. Miss you. |
Binle Posted Apr 23, 2012, 6:41 pm |
Hi mum
Binle told me that I have to leave her and that my journey goes to Canada. I'm very excited about the trip with the plane. So I have to say goodbye to my new TV-friends. Miss you. |
smaug Posted May 17, 2012, 5:31 am |
Hi Mum,
I’m in Canada ! Today I felt some frantic and very concerning action around my travelling quarters, as if many tiny hands were trying to it open it . Eventually the box got opened, and stepping outside I met a group of TVs greeting me and welcoming me in Calgary . They are Sweetsy, Melek and Greeny delMonte from Germany like me, Cherry Lola from the US, Commodore Quack from Wales and sammino, a stay-at-home TV who will be my host here in Calgary . Of course we immediately started chatting about our travels,...so I guess it’s going to be a very late night . |
smaug Posted May 29, 2012, 4:29 am |
Hi Mum,
Today smaug took us out for another trip to the mountains . Our destination was a valley west of Calgary. After walking some times in the tree we reached the valley...which is more or less the (mostly) dry bed of a seasonal creek. Moving on we could see snowy mountains around us... ...and Nihahi Ridge just behind us. After fighting a bit with deep snow and thick trees we reached the northeast ridge of Mt Fullerton . Here we could see the valley that we just left far below us... ...again Nihahi Ridge... ...and the summit of Mt Fullerton. At this point we made a surprise to Melek and organized a sudden birthday party for him . Of course we sung Happy Birhday... ...and had some special sweets ready. Unfortunately smaug couldn’t be talked into bringing a cake up here , so we had to do with some chocolate cookies . |
smaug Posted Jun 2, 2012, 7:43 pm |
Hi Mum,
Guess what?! Another guest arrived today (it’s getting crowded around here ). smaug came home and told us that there was a parcel for us . And, as we managed to open it, a new TV popped out of it, Tatanka, a nice buffalo from Germany . He showed us the wonderful presents that he brought along and then we spent the evening chatting and listening about his recent travels . |
smaug Posted Jun 14, 2012, 4:39 am |
Hi Mum,
These days neither the weather (always bad in the weekend) nor smaug (always at work) are helping much in keeping us entertained , but luckily, as for yesterday, we have some distraction: football ! The Euro Cup 2012 has started and we have plenty of matches to watch on TV . Of course I am supporting Germany, and having our own “German outpost” here in Calgary we were super-excited when today Germany were ready to take on Portugal (not sure why, but sammino said it was OK to wave the wrong colours while smaug wasn’t around, but otherwise it could have been unhealthy )... ...so we started watching the game all together. We got even more excited when Germany scored .... ...and when the match was eventually over. Just too bad that smaug didn’t leave any appropriate victory-party food supplies...maybe for the next match . |
smaug Posted Jun 18, 2012, 3:43 am |
Hi Mum,
Guess what, a new a guest arrived in Calgary today . smaug came home with a parcel... ...and, when me managed to open it, a TV jumped out of it, Tucker a nice turtle from Germany . He brought with him a lovely card and some delicious chocolate . Of course we spent the evening chatting and occasionally having a bite of that chocolate . |
smaug Posted Jun 18, 2012, 4:55 am |
Hi Mum,
Today, after a few quiet weekends , smaug took us again up to the mountains . As it often happens, the first part of the morning was spent between trees...a wonderful excuse to let smaug do the walking, take a little nap in his bag and make up for the sleep lost due to the early wake up . Eventually we reached a spot with a bit of view where we could look at both the mountains around us... ...and the prairies far away in the east . The weather didn’t look very nice so we thought it was time to head back and maybe enjoy a nice hot chocolate , but smaug said there was no reason not to try reach our target of the day, that peak up there . So, off we went. Listening to the wind howling outside the rucksack was a bit concerning , but somehow we reached the top and managed to take a few photos in the wind before hiding back inside. From up there we could see the Nakiska ski area... ...mountains both south and north... ...and again the prairies in the distance . |
smaug Posted Jun 23, 2012, 5:03 am |
Hi Mum,
Today we all gathered together to say goodbye and wish a safe trip to Cherry Lola and Greeny delMonte who are travelling to their next hosts in Germany and the US . |
smaug Posted Jun 23, 2012, 8:01 pm |
Hi Mum,
Today sammino told us to get ready to go for a trip . He didn’t really give us any detail, other than the fact that it will be many long hours before we find out our destination . |
smaug Posted Jun 30, 2012, 11:46 am |
Hi Mum,
Guess what!? I’m back in Europe ! After an awfully long trip including a missed connection I eventually fell asleep and this morning I woke up in northern Italy....and with a lovely breakfast ready in front of me . Refreshed and with a full belly , we were ready for sammino to introduce us to some of the local residents. There’s even a twin of sammino...although a tad bigger . As it is quite hot, we decided to finish recovering from the trip and spend the day chitchatting on the window sill, where we can enjoy a bit of breeze . |
smaug Posted Jun 30, 2012, 9:13 pm |
Hi Mum,
It’s freaking hot here , and having just arrived from Canada it feels even hotter . So I guess it’s no surprise that we are spending most of the time sheltered indoor . Today, to keep ourselves entertained, we decided to play some roulette. The professional skills of our feathered croupier appeared to be at the very least questionable , but generally luck seemed to ignore me, so I am afraid I can't come back home in a private jet yet . After that we decided to do something more challenging and organised a chess tournament . It was a real battle of minds and, of course, I was the best . Later we explored a bit the bookshelves and found this old atlas, which seemed a bit strange: I didn’t remember Germany to be so big when I left . |
smaug Posted Jul 9, 2012, 2:03 am |
Hi Mum,
Today another guest arrived, Orpheus , one of smaug’s TVs who will spend a few days with us. |
smaug Posted Jul 9, 2012, 2:44 am |
Hi Mum,
Today we had a very important football match to watch: the Euro Cup semifinal between Germany and Italy . Having to watch the match behind enemy lines I had to camouflage myself before it ... ...but, as soon as the teams came on the pitch, there were easily identifiable German and Italian camps in front of the TV, and emotions were running high. Unfortunately Italy swept Germany away ... ...and, as if the result wasn’t disappointing enough, we had to look at sammino going a bit wild on the celebrations . |
smaug Posted Jul 9, 2012, 3:50 am |
Hi Mum,
After just a few days, today we had to say goodbye to Orpheus and Sigfrido who are travelling to Rome...lucky them . |
smaug Posted Jul 18, 2012, 4:51 am |
Hi Mum,
Today we headed into the heart of the dolomites , where early in the morning we were welcomed by pouring rain , and as we left the parking lot there were limited signs of improvement. Still, we started walking up a narrow valley and when we came out of the trees things got better . We were following a very nice trail... ...with lovely peaks surrounding us all the time . As we gained elevation, the view improved further... ...and we eventually saw the highest point of our day, a narrow pass at the top of the valley. Once we got up there we saw a plateau that apparently we had to cross... ...and more mountains around us . A few hours later , we were looking at the same plateau from the opposite side... ...before diving down this wonderful valley and go back to the car, where we arrived just minutes before the rain came back, perfect timing . |
smaug Posted Jul 24, 2012, 4:38 am |
Hi Mum,
I’m back in Canada ! Alas, the holiday ended soon , but when we arrived in Calgary we found a surprise: an envelope that looked like there was a new guest inside . And yes, there was actually a new guest , Shooga, a nice TV from Germany and she brought a wonderful card with her . But today it was also goodbye time as we wished a safe trip to Melek who jumped in his envelope and started travelling to his next host. |
smaug Posted Jul 30, 2012, 2:23 am |
Hi Mum,
Today the weather didn’t look too good, but it was actually quite warm, so we headed to the mountains for a little hike...hoping not to get drenched by rain . The first part of the day wasn’t too exciting, until we started to see something between the trees. Eventually we reached a ridge were the view was much better : we had some nice rock walls in front of us... ...and could see the Bow valley far in the distance. We asked sammino if that peak was our destination, but he told us that it was just a little hump along the ridge . On the way we got distracted looking at the many flowers, we really like these little ones . At last we reached the top where the view was a bit of a disappointment . It was so foggy that the only thing we could barely see was the ridge that we had just walked up from. Interesting enough, despite the elevation, it was full of mosquitoes...and fairly vicious ones too. So we hastily found cover in the bag and left the blood thirsty bugs to feast on smaug . |
smaug Posted Jul 30, 2012, 4:19 am |
Hi Mum,
For once the weather was gorgeous during the weekend so, of course, we headed to the mountains. After a bit of walking we reached our first view point, where we had the side of Mt. Glasgow just in front of us . From here our path followed this nice valley... ...that soon became very wide. This place looked somehow familiar , and sammino pointed out that we have been here a couple of months ago when the deep snow thwarted our attempt to hike up Mt. Fullerton over there. From here the valley started getting narrower... ...and then even narrower and narrower . But the view improved: we had a good look at the back of Mt. Fullerton... ...and some glimpses of the top of Mt. Howard. Eventually we reached a nice little cirque where we had a great view... ...and could also see the headwater of the creek that we followed the whole day, with Mt. Howard slopes on he right. As we were ready to start heading home sammino told us that we were going to be bold and push for the summit of Mt. Howard. We were not that convinced about this being bold business , but once we reached the top the view was wonderful in every direction . What a day ! |
smaug Posted Jul 31, 2012, 3:54 am |
Hi Mum,
Today I said goodbye to all my friends here in Calgary and started getting ready to travel to my next host . Before I hopped in my travelling compartments sammino gave me a big hug and wished me a safe journey . See you soon ! |
Boris Kitty Posted Nov 20, 2012, 3:23 pm |
I arrived in the USA without any troubles crossing the border form Canada.
Boris was there to greet me. Then I got to meet his adopted sisters (he calls them monsters -- I thought that was funny). First I met Phoebe and we watched squirrels playing outside the window together for a while. Then I got to meet Piper. She was a little friendlier and wanted to play, but I was tired from my trip. Tomorrow I will get to meet two more pals! |
Boris Kitty Posted Nov 20, 2012, 3:25 pm |
After I had a nice rest I got up to meet a few more pals!
Edgar daKitty is Boris' "brother" he does all the travelling that Boris will not do. Then Edgar introduced me to Scruffy he is another ToyVoyager too! I think Scruffy is a very nice guy. He gave me a big welcome hug! |

We are going to Philadelphia tonight to a concert, but first we stop off at my host's mom's house (I decided to stay in the car).
It was a long drive but we are finally in the BIG city Look at all the flags. I tried to find the German flag but there was so much to look at I am afraid I missed it This is City Hall and it has a statue of William Penn on top of the building. We had to drive around the city hall building to get to the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts where the concert would be. This is where the Philadelphia Orchestra plays, but tonight we are here for the Dead Can Dance concert. It is a very nice music hall! The concert was great! |
Boris Kitty Posted Nov 20, 2012, 3:40 pm |
Today we had a big adventure. We went into the BIG city of Philadelphia to the Laurel Hill Cemetery to hear the Divine Hand Ensemble play a concert at the cemetery.
The music is very good and I do like the theremin (maybe I should learn to play it). As you can see there were lots of people there to hear this unique performance of funerary music (which is usually only played for the dead and not the living). During intermission we got to walk around and look at all the beautiful artwork in the cemetery. Many of the concert folk were walking around and seeing the BIG monuments that this cemetery has in it. I had a very nice night and we even took some video so you can hear the music too. http://youtu.be/g1TlGgrhCFs http://youtu.be/-sNJJwzvDP8 |

Walk for the Animals
Today I went with my host to the 35th Annual Walk for the Animals helf by the Humane Society of Berks County. It is held at the baseball stadium and thousands of people and dogs come to support the shelter and raise money. Here we are waiting for the people and puppies to come back from the walk so my host, who volunteers for HSBC, could take photos for them of the event. You can see the rest of the photos (the ones I am not in at my host's website - BorisKitty.com or his facebook page). It was a great day and the walkers raised over $127,000 for the animals that day. Glad I could be a part of it. |
Boris Kitty Posted Nov 20, 2012, 3:58 pm |
Today we ran across town to the Philadelphia Pretzel Factory and got soft pretzels. YUM!
One just for me |
Boris Kitty Posted Nov 20, 2012, 4:11 pm |
Today we went out to PA Dutch country today to a farm to buy pumpkins to make jack-o-lanterns for Halloween!
Then we got our supplies together. I wanted to scoop out the pumpkin "guts" myself... ...but Piper insisted on help me. I had to get all the seeds out (we will roast them later for snacks). We first applied the stencils to the pumpkins. Boris needed to inspect the Boris-o-Lantern we were working on (it does look just like him doesn't it). We also did Frankenstein and Vampire versions of Boris too! Here are the finished jack-o-lanterns. We think they look much better lit up! You can see other pumpkins we carved and download the templates at BorisKitty.com. |
Boris Kitty Posted Nov 20, 2012, 4:14 pm |
It is Halloween weekend and we are having a little party over at Edgar DaKitty's mad scientist lab. So I needed a costume! I am Nurse Elisa at your service!
Angel Scruffy and Mad Prof. Edgar are ready to party. I got to look around the lab... Then I got to help Edgar mix a potion. I got to run the controls for the brain in the jar! Bubble bubble brain! If you would like to see the lab in action here is a little video for you to watch. |
Boris Kitty Posted Nov 20, 2012, 4:18 pm |
Hurricane Sandy has come to town!
It was a wet and windy day! We watched the weather reports and only went outside once to check on the weather. I think this weather lady is pointing right at us! It looks scary! We were lucky here that no real damage was done. We did lose electric for a few days, but my hosts have a generator and we stayed warm and dry. |
Boris Kitty Posted Nov 20, 2012, 4:19 pm |
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Off to hand out candy to all the neighborhood kids! |
Boris Kitty Posted Nov 20, 2012, 4:21 pm |
My host volunteers for the One By One Cat rescue and this weekend she need to take photos of the cats in the shelters so I went along!
Such sweet kitties and they all need homes! I got a little tired so I decided to nap with these cuties while the humans talked about the video project. Here is the One By One Cat Rescue's home for the holidays video project I helped out with. |
Boris Kitty Posted Nov 20, 2012, 4:23 pm |
Today is election day here in the United States of America. So I went along with my host to help pick the new leader of their country.
Who to vote for? On the way out the polling places were handing out I VOTED stickers and I got one! |
