I took some photos with the road system today!
I did so because I saw some funny words drawn on the road surface~  :cyclops:

First, it's the zebra crossing, it's yellow colours,
with the green man and red man on the light, oh! they look very strong!

Then I need to cross a road, but there's no zebra crossing this time,
only some words, it's "LOOK LEFT" in English and Chinese,
and at the opposite side, it's "LOOK RIGHT" in English and Chinese!

And I found there's also some words at the bus stop...
And this time it's "BUS STOP" in English and Chinese.

um... don't know if I will find other different words on other roads??  ;)

On my way back home I saw some large artpieces....
the are some wooden sculpture....
actually all are forest animals in an abstract way!

I was excited and took photos with my friends Ferda & Miegalyte at once.
There are deer, snail, bear and rabbit.
We are having fun with the artpieces!  :D

Do you know what is fishball? It's just a must-eat item!!!  B)
I tried it today, yummy~
It's one of the well-known street snacks in Hong Kong,
it's the meat of fish, and the fishball is very slightly fried so the surface is a bit yellow in colour.  :)

You can even serve in chilli sauce, mustard, or what ever you like~

Hello Mum,

Two days ago I arrived in Germany. First Dicker Kumpel gave me a warm welcome.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4357.jpg

Then he introduced me to the others TVs here. They all seem to be very nice.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4360.jpg

Today we had a big barbecue. Look – so many different kinds of food.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4385.jpg

It was so delicious!!!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4397.jpg

After it we went into the garden and found so beautiful lilac.

First the white one...

then the purple one.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4383.jpg

Vi told me it's confirmed that I will go to Germany few days later,
before leaving home,
she took me with Miegalyte & Hypno-dog to have a visit in Hong Kong Park.
It is a big park that locates in a commercial business district.

It is FUN! When we got into the Park, there's an eye-catching fountain in front of us,
and what surprise me is... you can go into the fountain!  B)
Vi told that it's lots of fun inside and will absolutely all wet after going in.

There are some special and funny-looking plants in the Park,
for example, the 400-year-old jujube (also called Chinese date) tree and,
the balloon-like butterfly flower.
The fishes in the pond are so big that I am a bit scared,
it's glad that they wont jump out and bite me!
They are in many colours and got a big big mouth!  :o
In the pond, I can see some tiny black dots, and all dots are actually tadpoles.

Then it's time to have some adventure~
We came to a waterfall and behind it is a rocky cave.
Looking the waterfall from its back is quite interesting,
it really took some time for three of us to climb to the top,
it's hard but we finally made it! Yeah!!  :p :p
I am proud of my climbing skills, heehee~  ;)

Finally we came to the conservatory, inside we saw many special plants and flowers,
I even ride on a snail!  :cyclops:

What a great day!

Hello Mum,

Today we went to Bad Segeberg, a small town near to Sülfeld. It is well known for the Karl-May-Festival. Maybe I will see an Indian?

But first we went to the nice Lake. It wasn't the nicest weather. It was a strange May here in Germany this year.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4405.jpg

There were some ducks – but we didn't feed them.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4404.jpg

LOOK – what I saw between the trees.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4399.jpg

Later we went into the town. There were a train and a car  – and I was allowed to drive them, although I don't have a licence.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4415.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4417.jpg

There was a really funny – and really big – guy there.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4420.jpg

No – I was not in England,  but it looked like it here.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4425.jpg

We saw this beautiful big house – I liked it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4432.jpg

Before we drove home, we sat in front of a fountain and talked a lot.

Hi Mum,

some of the guests here will travel to their next hosts soon - but they should see the Port of Hamburg before they leave. Fortunately we had great weather today – and went to Hamburg. We are a lot at the moment – here you can see us.

I looked out of the train window – it is beautiful out there.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4437.jpg

Here you can see me in front of the famous church Michel in Hamburg. I know, you love this church.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4450.jpg

And there was this funny statue next to it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4453.jpg

Later we went to the Port. There were a lot of ships.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4465.jpg

The white ship is the Cap San Diego – in the other direction you can see a big sailing ship – called Rickmer Rickmers.

Hi Mum,

the weather was nice – and we made a nice trip with the bike. What a long way!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4520.jpg

Most of the time we sat here – it was a nice place, too. And safe!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4521.jpg

We made a stop next to a small lake. I relaxed in the sun.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4501.jpg

And found beautiful flowers.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4502.jpg

This was the old school in Sülfeld.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4510.jpg

Now the mayor is working here. You can see the emblem of Sülfeld on the sign.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4511.jpg

The last place for this day was the wonderful old church of Sülfeld. Isn't it beautiful?

Hi Mum,

It is the World Championship in Soccer at the moment. This evening Germany plays versus Australia.
We decided to watch it in the TV.

Here you see us on our chair, before the games started. Nori wasn't very interested and looked into the wrong direction...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4536.jpg

We went onto another chair – closer to the TV. It started really well for Germany – with a first goal. We all sat there, but Topple is so big that you maybe cannot see all of me.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4539.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4541.jpg

But here I am alone. RikeH took the photo when it was time for the second goal for Germany

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4546.jpg

Germany won 4 :0. So RikeH's boy-friend was very happy!

We celebrated it back on our chair – and this time Nori celebrated it with us.

Dicker Kumpel had his birthday this week.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4556.jpg

We decided to celebrate it – and made a nice trip this week-end. We drove to Malchow. The first place we visited was a nice big forest where a family of Barbary Apes are living. It was fun to watch them.

Hi Mum,

on Saturday we played in the garden of the Hotel. There was a nice pavilion with music.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4647.jpg

You can see our hotel in the background.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4655.jpg

Look – there is a nice little river in the garden – the others put their feet into it – I have no feet – so I put my tongue into it. It was pretty cold.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4659.jpg

After playing in the garden, we all relaxed in this great chair – next to the Fleesensee.

look – we had nice flowers in our room.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4673.jpg

But we had to leave. Before we drove back to Sülfeld we decided to work on one of Captain Caramel's Life Missions and we made a nice trip with a boat. Here you see me on the boat.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4679.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4680.jpg

It was too cold outside, so we decided to go into the boat.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4688.jpg

It was nice to see the nature outside – and sit in the warm room.

In another small city called Plau am See we made a short walk and saw the town hall.

Hello Mum,

yesterday we met a new ToyVoyager. He is called Bussi and Dicker Kumpel met him in the garden. He will go on a trip with us.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4718.jpg

Today we started our trip. We drove with a really fast train called ICE to Passau. Here you see us having lunch.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0003.jpg

This is inside the train – we drove really fast sometimes – about 200 km/h.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0011.jpg

I looked out of the window. It was really interesting.

Hello Mum,

we will start our trip in the afternoon – and made a walk in Passau. It was really hot. There are three rivers in Passau – here is one of it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0022.jpg

Here is the place where the rivers flow together. We enjoyed the view and relaxed in the sun.

There was a photo of the place – I wanted to show you.

Look at these wonderful flowers.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0032.jpg

and a colorful town hall.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0040.jpg

It was so hot – I needed more water – fortunately there was a fountain.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0048.jpg

Later we went onto the ship – I will show photos of it later. But look what happened when RikeH opened the luggage.

We found Topple and Captain Caramel.

Hi Mum,

great News – we went to the Zoo today. First we saw this beautiful buildung.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0078.jpg

There were really big hippos – lying lazy in the sun.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0087.jpg

The rhino was really big, too.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0100.jpg

huh – really big birds – all animals are big in this Zoo.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0105.jpg

We saw a polar bear ...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0109.jpg

and some swimming penguins.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0122.jpg

They came out of the water – so we made this photo with all of us.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0124.jpg

Then we met some of my relatives.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0129.jpg

I asked them to come with me and become ToyVoyagers, too. They didn't want it, and RikeH told me, that they are not toys, and too heavy to carry around. So they will stay in the Zoo and watch the people going around there.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0134.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0135.jpg

The last animal we saw was this one – a Panda!! He was so cute – but RikeH had problems to make a good photo of us together.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0142.jpg

After visiting the Zoo, we met a trip in a small train  around the Castle Schönbrunn. Here is a view from far away.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0170.jpg

Here we stood next to it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0188.jpg

We had so much fun together.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0191.jpg

We went back to our ship – there were two sister ships next to it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0327.jpg

Budapest is famous for his baths – this is one of it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0334.jpg

We went onto a hill and had a great view over Budapest – what a beautiful city.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0344.jpg

We played together in the Paprika.

Later we went to another village. There are houses like this full of Wine.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0470.jpg

In these barrels they have the Wine.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0485.jpg

We bought some wine and drank it at home.

Hello from the Capital of Serbia,

we started our trip in Serbia with this beautiful church.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0593.jpg

They are not ready with building it inside. But we can imagine how it will look like, when it is ready.

Hello from the Danube,

we had a nice route today – this Part of the Danube is a Gorge near to the Iron Gate – and was really beautiful. Here you see me on the ship.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0684.jpg

I enjoyed the sun with Nori.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010b/IMG_0708.jpg

We drove through a very big lock:

Hello Mum,

we  visited a very big house today – it is the Parliament now – and called the Palace of the Parliament. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Palace is the world's largest civilian administrative building, most expensive administrative building, and heaviest building.

And you can see me in front of it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0009.jpg

We were not allowed to take photos inside, but here is a look, when we stand on the balcony. A very nice street with many fountains and flowers.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0025.jpg

Then we made a tour through the city.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0038.jpg

We had a great place – in the first row. And a big box with food, water and wine.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0037.jpg

Our last stop was next to this beautiful church.

Hello from the Ukraine,

we went by a little boat to the Danube Delta today. It was great weather – as always on this trip.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0121.jpg

The typical view from the boat:

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0133.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0141.jpg

And then we did it – we sailed the Danube. Behind me, you can see the big 0 (really small on the photo). It is the kilometer 0 of the River Danube.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0162.jpg

We celebrated it with fish and a wodka!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0164.jpg

Now we will travel back to Passau – with some stops, of course.

Hello from Bulgaria,

we started out trip visiting a Monastery. The rock monastery “St Dimitrii of Basarbovo” is situated in the picturesque valley of the Rusenski Lom River amidst a number of rock cloisters. It lies about 10km away from the town of Rousse and carries the name of a near-by village. First a look out of the garden – and some nice flowers.

Then we went to Ivanovo. The village is famous for the Rock-hewn Church, a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Inside there were wonderful paintings...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0285.jpg

and we had a nice view over the Valley.

Hi Mum,

today we visited our last country in this holiday – there were a lot of it – did you count them? Well – it is Slovakia.

We made a walk in Bratislava, a nice town with beautiful buildings.

But back to sightseeing.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0524.jpg

I loved this tower – it is so beautiful.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0536.jpg

Back on the ship it was time to say good-bye to our cabin. RikeH had to pack the bags, we ToyVoyagers sat together and talked and talked and talked – as always, when we sit together.

Hi Mum,

We went to work with RikeH today – because her colleague has a big motorbike and we were allowed to play on it.

So here you see me in front of it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%202010%20a/IMG_4564.jpg

So I decided to relax and take a nap.

Hi Mum,

I have to leave Germany, but we made a nice trip before.

Dörte – another TV invited us. We visited her on a Campsite and had a Barbecue.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0588.jpg

We looked around on the table and found Salad, too.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0586.jpg

Dörte worked hard.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0589.jpg

Hey – it looked yummy – and it was delicious.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0595.jpg

Really yummy – and we all ate too much.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0597.jpg

Later we made a walk – and had a look over the Campsite.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0600.jpg

We made a rest and were allowed to choose an ice-cream.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0603.jpg

I had this one – called Chocolate Kiss.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0607.jpg

It was a great day – we said goodbye to Dörte.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0610.jpg

At home I had to say goodbye to the others.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0611.jpg

They gave me a big hug.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_0614.jpg

Then I had to say good-bye to Dicker Kumpel. He was such a great host. I will miss him.

Today I arrived in Istanbul. But I wasn't the only one who received today. :D
I helped the other Toyvoyagers to get Belka out of her package.
We both became immediately friends and I hugged her.

Hello!  It seems to have been a very interesting year for me, hasn't it?  I even changed shape.  And now I am in the USA on a Round Robin!

In October everyone seems to be getting ready for Fall and Halloween!  There are pumpkins for sale everywhere.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a214/kessalia/Oct/DSCF1643.jpg

Look, these silly ones are almost my size!  They are painted with funny faces.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a214/kessalia/Oct/DSCF1644.jpg

And of course with Halloween coming, there is so much candy for sale!  Some of it looks so yummy, but all of it together would make even someone bigger than me sick, I bet!  :p

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a214/kessalia/Oct/DSCF1645.jpg

Mel has a secret plan for all of us toys for Halloween costumes.  I picked mine, and she said it would be perfect.  I can't wait to see it!  :D

We went to 5 different caches and found them all.  After the last one we just enjoyed the walk and scenery in Kimbal Pines Park.

Hello!  Here I am almost ready to move on, but the kids wanted to take me to the library and show me a puppet show!  It wasn't much of a show, but it was funny and fun playing with the kids.  A few other kids even joined in, and we all laughed so much!  I even got to go on stage and play a bit myself.  :)  It was a fun way to end my stay in Michigan.

Hello Mum,

Finally I arrived in Germany.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0320.jpg

Immediately Murph opened my envelope.

I climbed out of the envelope.

The same day another envelope arrived. Murph and I opened it and we looked into it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0324.jpg

A blue bird came out of the envelope – it was  Buzz.

Hello friends,

It is RikeH’s birthday today. Buzz, Murph and I created a card for her. I can remember RikeH – I visited her years ago, when I was a snake.

First we decided which theme we wanted to have.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0341.jpg

Difficult! Murph loved the mice.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0344.jpg

Buzz and I wanted the hippo.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0345.jpg

Okay, RikeH loves hippos. So we took the hippo.

We started.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0347.jpg

Murph took the glue.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0349.jpg

Buzz and I pressed the paper.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0351.jpg

The card was finished.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0353.jpg

I signed the card.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0358.jpg

And now we all are singing for RikeH

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LIEBE RIKE, HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR YOU!!!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0360.jpg

Hi Mum,

today I went into a great forest with Murph and Buzz. There were old trees and wonderful rocks.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/IMG_0364.jpg

Murph showed me this rare mushroom.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/IMG_0383.jpg

We climbed up the rock. What a nice forest!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/IMG_0386.jpg

There was a look-out in the forest.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/IMG_0394.jpg

We thought about climbing up the tower.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/IMG_0396.jpg

And decided to go – we wanted to see the surrounding from the tower.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/IMG_0410.jpg

The view was brilliant!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/IMG_0401.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/IMG_0407.jpg

There was a little church.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/IMG_0399.jpg

We felt like being in a big castle.

Hi Mum,

Today Murph showed us Bad Salzdetfurth. It is an old mining city.  Here you see a photo of the emblem.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0451.jpg

This is a museum with many old machines of the mining time.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0461.jpg

Can you see us?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0459.jpg

There were Salines in the Park. The people used them to produce salt in the Past.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0465.jpg

This was a  Summstein.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0471.jpg

Murph told us, how it works. You should stand in the Stone and hum. Then your Body tingle.  Of course we tried it out.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0474.jpg

There is a street of planets In Bad Salzdetfurth. All planets are in the correct distance to the sun all over the city. We found the Earth.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0481.jpg

It is a really beautiful city.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0485.jpg

Then we drove to this funny sculpture. Do you know these two guys?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0435.jpg

They are Max and Moritz.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0441.jpg

Wilhelm Busch wrote about their story in a book. He lived here.

Hello Mum,

Today we made a trip to the wisent park in Springe. We saw a lot of animals there.

First we saw these beautiful birds.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0489.jpg

They were almost as beautiful as Buzz.

This is a hotel for bugs.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0493.jpg

We met moose…

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0494.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0502.jpg

… and many deer.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0507.jpg

These lazy animals gave the name for the park. (No - not the nice ones in the front - look behind us!)

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0511.jpg

More beautiful animals!

Hello Mum,

It was cold and windy today, but we wanted to make a nice trip to Alfeld.

In Alfeld everything is decorated for Christmas.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0556.jpg

I would love to see this old tower in the summertime – I think that it will be more beautiful then.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0559.jpg

On the marketplace there is a funny monument.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0564.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0567.jpg

And a beautiful fountain.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0572.jpg

The marketstreet and the townhall.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0575.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0578.jpg

What a shock! I thought that the church burned.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0583.jpg

Luckily it was only smoke from a factory behind the church.

I found this wonderful house – the old Latin School.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0587.jpg

Near to it there was another statue.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0594.jpg

On our way back we saw this big angel. I wanted a photo with it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0598.jpg

At home we we lightened the first candle of the Advent wreath.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0605.jpg

We were not able to celebrate the first Advent for a long time. Buzz will travel to his next host tomorrow  – fam-united is waiting for him.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0606.jpg

He climbed into his envelope.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2011a/murph/IMG_0608.jpg

Have a good trip, Buzz.

Hello Mum,

today I show you our Advent calender. Yes – it is right – we have our own calender for TVs.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Advent%202011/DSCN6039.jpg

Murph found the number one – but he was too small, so I helped him.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Advent%202011/DSCN6044.jpg

What will be in there?

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Advent%202011/DSCN6046.jpg

So many sweets.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Advent%202011/DSCN6047.jpg

I searched the number 2 and I found it.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Advent%202011/DSCN6053.jpg

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Advent%202011/DSCN6055.jpg

Then we all searched for the number 4.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Advent%202011/DSCN6064.jpg

Stoker found it.

Hello Mum,

on Thursday I was allowed to open a gift out of the Advent Calendar.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/DSCN6075.jpg

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/DSCN6077.jpg

Today we went into the forest with Murph. We searched Mushrooms. First we found a lilac mushroom.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/IMG_0626.jpg

Murph told us that it was eatable.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/IMG_0627.jpg

The mushroom was a wood blewit.

We loved this too, it is called hair ice.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/IMG_0629.jpg

Unfortunately this mushroom was frozen.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/IMG_0631.jpg

Oyster mushroom, really yummy!

This big mushroom is eatable, too.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/IMG_0641.jpg

This is a trooping funnel mushroom. Sadly it was too big for our basket.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/IMG_0644.jpg

There were many of these mushrooms.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/IMG_0646.jpg

We searched for these mushrooms, but they were too small.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/IMG_0651.jpg

Their name is velvet foot. We found bigger ones.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/IMG_0652.jpg

We cut them and put them into our basket.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/IMG_0655.jpg

Then we went home  with our full basket.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/IMG_0658.jpg

At home I said good-bye to the others.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/DSCN6090.jpg

I will travel to my next host.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Winterpilze%20Dez%202011/DSCN6093.jpg

It was a lovely day with Murph and the others in the Forest.

Hi Mummy,
today I reached my new destination - Remscheid in North Rhine-Westphalia. I had to wait in my envelope in a staircase until my new host came home from work. Thankfully I was loaded wth chocolate, so at least I did not starve :)

My new host Katja and a whole bunch of ToyVoyagers gave me a warm welcome.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7007/6517346755_e461845399_o.jpg

There are Clyde and Aslan from the USA, Franz-Ferdinand and Tatanka from Germany. Katja told me that there should also be Krystal from Canada, but it seemed that she was hiding somewhere.

All the TVs told me that the weather was ugly here, rainy, stormy and quite cold. The we weather forecast is warning gave out a storm warning for tomorrow. Let's see ...

Hi Mummy,
we are still having ugly weather here in Germany. In the morning we went to buy a newspaper and bread rolls. We took the chance to take two photos in the vicinity of my current home.

I am living in a quarter which was not destroyed in World War II, so here are still a lot of lovely houses which were built in early 20th century and earlier.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7163/6527249925_6fba4c17ed_o.jpg

A lot of houses are covered with slate, they usually have green shutters.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7171/6527250129_9765dcc63f_o.jpg

Later it began to rain again :(

In the afternoon Katja decided that she would like to make some Christmas cookies. Tatanka suggested to try an old secret family receipe (now it in not a secret receipe any longer ;) )

We needed a lot of dark couverture, butter, nuts and marshmallows. Everything was on hand.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7033/6527250405_84d699076c_o.jpg

I decided to help him. You should never leave a male alone in the kitchen, they will probably cause a terrible mess.

We melted butter and couverture and added chopped nuts. In the meantime we cut the marshmallow into small pieces.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7169/6527250627_cef4350c2e_o.jpg

The chocolate mass had to cool down, we placed it close to the open window to cool it down faster.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7157/6527250807_54fa2f9a54_o.jpg

We added the marshmallows and filled the whole mass into a cake setting frame.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7012/6527251001_59002bafea_o.jpg

We decorated the chocolate mass with white couverture and brought the it to the really cold attic. Hopefully tomorrow everything is set and we will be able to cut in into pieces.

Hi Mummy,
today we thought we had to go for a walk, although the weather is still horrible. There is fog and drizzling rain, but nontheless we went outside.

We went to the municipal park to the district Hasten.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7160/6574980317_3b5a5693f1_o.jpg

Hasten is one of the oldest districts of the city, with a lot of lovely old houses. You can find those typical houses which are covered with slate, also half-timbered houses.

The German Tool Museum is situated in Remscheid-Hasten. Its outdoor facility with large machines is freely accessible.

Hi Mummy,
after work we went to Katja's friend Kerstin today, to take a walk with her dog in Scharpenacken, a former army training area. This area was used for military purposes until 2004 A.D as a shooting range. Today there is a local recreation area with vast open areas.
In the background you can see a housing area in Wuppertal, famous for its exquisite villas built by factory owners.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7025/6611754213_55a6b2c051_o.jpg

Not long since we started our walk it began to rain again.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7145/6611754375_d53b030ac3_o.jpg

In the middle of the forest you can find a lovely landscape park, built by the former owner of the Vorwerk Company. Katja told us that this would be a lovely place in spring time, summer and autumn, but now it is a only muddy place.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7018/6611754567_43be08dab0_o.jpg

When we went back to the car on a more rarely frequented path we found one of the old warning signs :)

we went to Katja's sister-in-law's family today to celebrate the last day of the year. When we arrived, there already was everything prepared for Raclette.

There were lots of vegetables like sweet pepper, carrots, mushrooms, tomatoes, than there was beef and chicken meat, salmon, bread, potatoes and much more. Of course there was a lot of cheese :)

Hi Mummy,
we visited friends in Wuppertal today, Katja is knowing them for ages. They also have ferrets as pets. Although the weather is still really bad we took a short walk in the city centre before we went to the friend's apartment.

Here you can see the "Schwebebahn", a suspension railway. It travels along a route of 13.3 kilometres (8.3 mi), at a height of about 12 metres (39 ft 4 in) above the river Wupper. At some places it is crossing streets, even the motorway A 46.

Due to the not ending rain the river Wupper is carrying much more water than usual.

One of the shopping malls is overspanning the street.

A train was leaving the station.

This is the station you could already see on the last picture.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7009/6614107383_6a970a4751_o.jpg

Each of the 20 stations is built in a different style, this one in a modern style.

Hi Mummy,
this is my first day here with fantastic weather, a great reason to take a hiking trip, so we took a long walk along the river Wupper today, in Solingen, the neighbour city. We started our trip in Balkhausen, a small hamlet in this rural area. Here we saw a lot of those typical half-timbered houses.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7142/6701416773_948eec963f_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7164/6701417039_d573bf2b50_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7142/6701417275_6ef31089d6_o.jpg

We also saw cattle, I don't know which sort of them.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7001/6701417569_45dd667c49_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7149/6701417927_645b7cc899_o.jpg

Finally we reached river Wupper, it is flowing towards river Rhine.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7146/6701418281_dfb684686c_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7033/6701418505_404dcdb4db_o.jpg

We reached a hamlet with a funny name: It is called "Rüden" because of the tale of one of the formerly reigns of this region (eventually in middle ages) who met with a riding accident and was saved by his dog.
("Rüde" is the German word for a male dog.)

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7171/6701418729_261cf33723_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7023/6701418945_eeb8b4eae5_o.jpg

We decided to walk back.

We found an old machine.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7028/6701438515_44546257d3_o.jpg

Unfortunately we had no more sunshine on the other side of the valley.

Hi Mummy,
when Katja came home from work we decided to take a walk - who knows how long we'd have such great weather.

We went to the municipal park first, only a few minutes to walk.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7162/6742319049_5acafbc689_o.jpg

There is a pond in the park, ducks and turtles are living here.

The observatory is situated in the municipal park.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7031/6742319879_16dbc72444_o.jpg

We walked to the district Hasten than.

Hi Mummy,
the weather is still ugly (again ugly) here with lots of rain. Nontheless my host Katja decided that we would take a walk. We went to a woodland area. There is a creek in the valley, usually a really narrow one.  It is carrying much more water than usual.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7007/6742295935_cf2fbe058a_o.jpg

These rain detention basins are usually empty, now they are filled. (It is raining for about six weeks now.)

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7170/6742296207_2297a6e65f_o.jpg

We were happy when we reached our home.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7174/6742296421_4bef8aaf74_o.jpg

Later we watched Katja's daughter prepare a torte. Her boyfriend is celebrating his birthday today, she is going to take it to the birthday party. She made a torte with cream, chocolate cream and strawberries.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7024/6742296671_6853ce3d83_o.jpg

She prepared the chocolate cream with egg yolk, butter and melted chocolate.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7142/6742296925_7250920c29_o.jpg

First the layers of the torte were filled with strawberry jam, than there is a layer of whipped cream and finally the chocolate cream.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7163/6742297129_24669a399c_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7163/6742297359_22300521fb_o.jpg

Than the torte was decorated with more cream, strawberries and chocolate hearts.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7155/6742297601_f696f46d88_o.jpg

It's looking good, isn't it?

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7168/6742297765_e4c3de4277_o.jpg

Maybe I will manage to hide in her bag, so I could also go to the birthday party and taste the torte.

Hi Mummy,
it is extremely cold in Germany - have a look at the thermometer.
- 12°C means 10.4°F. We all need warm clothings now. Katja suggested a warm scarf for me.

Hi Mummy,
we visited Katja's sister today. She is living in one of the historic districts of Remscheid, in Lennep. It is extremely cold.

We took a walk in the late morning, through the suburbs towards a restaurant for lunch.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7151/6803072643_9a41e4703f_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7025/6803072875_05c3ee05e4_o.jpg

You can find lots of woodland areas and rural areas in Remscheid.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7012/6803073071_469554d1a1_o.jpg

The A1 motorway is crossing the valley.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7018/6803073249_ddd9dbea23_o.jpg

All puddles and little creeks in the roadside ditches are frozen.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7015/6803073481_47edcec32f_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7007/6803073723_f6e0c728b0_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7026/6803073989_32e5b9e8e1_o.jpg

We reached our lunch destination in an industrial park close to the A1 motorway.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7167/6803074181_19f848b5fd_o.jpg

Afterwards we took a walk in the old town of Lennep.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7010/6803074561_96644a592a_o.jpg

Most of the houses were built after 1746 A.D., when there was the last great fire which destroyed nearly the complete old town. Many houses are under monument protection.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7016/6803074771_690ded9d09_o.jpg

The area around the market place was refurbished in 1989 A.D.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7034/6803075065_e95eae3c6d_o.jpg

You can find extremely narrow lanes here, no car can pass through.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7022/6803075353_3baff3993f_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7005/6803075673_4c846de910_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7159/6803075875_1d290d0058_o.jpg

The founder of the X-rays, Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen, was born in Lennep in 1845 A.D. The German Roentgen Museum is situated here, the house of his birth is also still existing.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7154/6803076313_754b7302ff_o.jpg

We went back to Katja's sister than, nearly frozen to death.

Hi Mummy,
we went to Solingen today, the neighbour city. Katja's daughter had to settle something at work. In the meantime we had a look at the "Südpark" (Southern Park) which was built on a former railway track for freight trains. The buildings are the old goods depots, now you can find artist shops, galleries and bars there, also artwork.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7170/6818143645_0731f1e7df_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7159/6818143849_5021c8b4bc_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7167/6818144061_0d8bb3eb77_o.jpg

We went to the station than to get back, not home yet, but to Muengsten Bridge to take a walk.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7171/6818144277_e8ba098139_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7002/6818144509_9f59f21aec_o.jpg

We got out of the train just before Muengsten Bridge.  We walked downhill to the valley of the river Wupper. On our way we found some playgrounds, like those rocking sheep :)

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7002/6818132393_dbc69a29f1_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7012/6818132647_56491cda62_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7175/6818144917_7fb39037c7_o.jpg

There are "normal" walking paths, meandering down the steep slope, but you can also take the straight way down, with the help of those ropes.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7172/6818145225_200dcc406a_o.jpg

Back on the Remscheid side of the valley ....

There are lots of little creeks running down the slopes, they are all frozen now.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7148/6818145465_b394ae418e_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7015/6818145763_465294f892_o.jpg

We found an extremely large old beech in the forest, too large to take a photo of it :)

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7152/6818145957_bff35b995f_o.jpg

There is a cemetary nearly in the forest, you can find a memorial for the dead of World War I here.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7170/6818146253_5b11b168ef_o.jpg

You can see the city centre of Remscheid in the background. Can you see the church tower? We are living really close to it.

Hi Mummy,
today we took a walk in the late afternoon in the city centre. We walked along the "Route of Tools" (Trasse des Werkzeugs), a former railway track, now built to a lane for pedestrians and cyclists. This lane is following the former freight train track from the central station to the district Hasten, many industrial companies were situated along this track, some are still nowadays.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7202/6858021331_d2a45e4f08_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7202/6858021525_6968517c3d_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7207/6858021747_69ceb648e5_o.jpg

We found a resting area, you can find some seats here (it was too cold to sit longer than 30 seconds on the metal bench).

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7186/6858187815_a6903e5e42_o.jpg

The lane was sponsored by local companies, mostly tool producing companies - that's why it is called "Route of Tools". Remscheid is famous for its tool producing industry for centuries. You can find large signs with the logos of the sponsoring companies.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7063/6858021961_180dda49ab_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7047/6858022193_86a6b4f90f_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7197/6858022603_158271ef3b_o.jpg

This is the former slaughterhouse, the whole complex is under monument protection nowadays.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7044/6858022803_f053994079_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7045/6858023003_5e31172cf9_o.jpg

The closer we came towards Hasten, the more the lane seemed to be a park or a walking path in a forest.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7052/6858023259_e6195d02fd_o.jpg

I found those funny wrench patterns, stamped into the tarmac.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7190/6858023501_bee1fbe9f4_o.jpg

We left the Route of Tools and went home through the municipal park.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7199/6858023829_c7781b5ae0_o.jpg

This monument is dedicated to the dead of several wars which took place before WW I.

Hi Mummy,
today we met friends to take a longer hiking tour to the neighbour town Wuppetal. We planned to visit the Wuppertal Brewhouse.

First we had to walk towards the valley between Remscheid and Wuppertal, it is called "Morsbachtal", like the creek (Morsbach) running through it. It seems that all the water on earth's surface was frozen.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7178/6864144591_17ae66b1f3_o.jpg

This is the Morsbach (Morsbach creek).

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7209/6864145149_4c55987fe4_o.jpg

This pond in front of an historic industrial site is also frozen.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7056/6864145437_0d72205ef5_o.jpg

This cute little house was restored in the last years, Katja told me.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7061/6864145751_71bcc83f2f_o.jpg

Than we had to climb from the bottom of the valley towards Wuppertal-Cronenberg. Can you see the city centre of Remscheid on the hill in background? We started our trip there :)

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7195/6864146135_428922447e_o.jpg

This is a typical German garden :D

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7192/6864146735_7613e7cffa_o.jpg

From now we walked along the "Sambatrasse", also a former railway track, following a route though the forest from Wuppertal-Cronenberg to the zoo quarter in Wuppertal.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7181/6864147405_363b11afd5_o.jpg

This historic train is placed here.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7051/6864147677_7486c4397f_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7064/6864148275_be43ff012b_o.jpg

An incinerator is also situated at the Sambatrasse.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7058/6864148565_6f7936f3d9_o.jpg

This is an access road to the A46 motorway.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7203/6864148901_06ca696e0b_o.jpg

We left the Sambatrasse in the zoo quarter. You can find lots of beautiful mansions here.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7051/6864149213_91878b9637_o.jpg

In the background you can see the Schwebebahn.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7198/6864149811_45ea7ae2ac_o.jpg

Inside a station ...

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7042/6864150363_35fe692f68_o.jpg

Here you can see the city hall of the district Wuppertal-Barmen.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7069/6864150745_6ca0b7ee6d_o.jpg

The brewhouse is situated close to the city hall, just behind it.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7047/6864150981_39151145bd_o.jpg

We were really thirsty, so we ordered large beers immediately.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7203/6864169729_dd52e7d2b3_o.jpg

The brewhouse is a former public swimming bath which was in use from 1882 until it was closed in 1993. The brewhouse was opened in the the rebuilt complex in 1997. You can find photos of the former swimming bath here, you have to click the "Historie"-button in the top row.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7046/6864152303_87e423ccce_o.jpg

Yummy!

Hi Mummy,

we visited Cologne today. My host had planned to meet a friend, fam-united, there. We went to Cologne by train.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7066/6952733109_2a2b1e2abd_o.jpg

We did not only met Katja's friend, we also met a ToyVoyager who will now stay with Jatja some time. It is Buzz BlueJay from the USA.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7050/6952750685_ea14b5c0fa_o.jpg

The very most important thing you have to see in Cologne is Cologne Cathedral. It is a renowned monument of German Catholicism and Gothic architecture and is a World Heritage Site. Cologne Cathedral was built between 1248 and 1880. The cathedral is the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe, its towers are about 157 m tall.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7058/6806621142_cb554cca60_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7207/6806621366_898aa42342_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7040/6806621552_6e38be1bd8_o.jpg

Katja promised that later we would prpbably have a look at the inside of the cathedral. So we first went to see River Rhine, also in the picture you can see the Hohenzollern Bridge, a bridge for trains and pedestrians / cyclists.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7185/6952733841_f3bf17f7c2_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7184/6806621868_982e792769_o.jpg

There are also lots of excursion boats.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7039/6952734141_301112acb1_o.jpg

We followed the promenade and walked past the old town of Cologne. Those houses were built in 17th century.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7063/6952734303_da2a23815a_o.jpg

Katja had a great idea: We would visit the German Chocolate Museum (Imhoff Schokoladenmuseum) situated in this partly old building.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7178/6952734391_c5ceeb3da2_o.jpg

First we walked around the building.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7186/6952734503_85fa720e87_o.jpg

A view from the roof of the building ...

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7070/6806622516_2e88d8c9f4_o.jpg

Inside the museum we saw all the machines which are necessary to make delicious chocolate.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7196/6952734929_2e3b59cf6d_o.jpg

There is a real chocolate fountain! We all got wafers dipped into melted chocolate. Yummy!

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7177/6806641246_ceaaf11526_o.jpg

These are moulds for chocolate cars :)

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7050/6809804036_0041021f05_o.jpg

Here you can see old billboards.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7177/6955914697_0722cc2396_o.jpg

We went back to the city than.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7179/6952735213_603b2c69e1_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7201/6806623362_5a1da1a347_o.jpg

In the old town you can find narrow lanes and lovely houses.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7054/6952735711_a84e32e5bf_o.jpg

Hi Mummy,
my current host decided that it would be best for me to go to the FosterCareHome in Finland. She told me that there are already some ToyVoyagers, so I would have lots of fun there. Besides I am not going alone, Tochi will accompany me.

So we packed our things and left Germany today.

I hope to arrive there soon.
