Hi!

It is my last day in Lithuania. Tommorow I'll travel to China and I'm so happy about it  :D
My mentor and I got outside as she saw some unnatural growth flowers (she planted them in 2009 spring but they grow just now...strange flowers). She hasn't seen anywhere natural growth flowers, which are much more beautiful, so she took some photos with me and these unnatural growth flowers.

Suddenly our best friend, Katyte, came and gave to me a sweet kiss. She misses Drovius and Apelsinas so much! Yesterday I even saw her crying with other toys, which are too big to travel (in my opinion they are totally huge!).

I wish all of you the best spring ever and I give you these cute Lithuanian flowers as a gift.

After sleeping for a night, I start my travel here in Hong Kong today.

It's foggy day, I can see the thick fog on the sea surface.
I travelled the Star Ferry to cross the Victoria Harbour,
from Kowloon Peninsula to Hong Kong Island.

The crews are in blue navy uniforms abd each ferry has their own name.
The one I took this morning is Solar Star. B)

green one - mini-bus, there are also red one

Behind me is the second tallest building here - IFC

At night, when I back home, you can see there's fog again~ :p

In Central, there are some wet markets,
they are not indoors, but an opened one.

You can find everything here, even better than the supermarket! :o

There are many temples here, today I saw one.
It's on the slope and is a very small one.
You can see that there are usually a pair rock lion statues in front of the entrance,
one in the left and one in the right. They are believed to keep the ghosts/ evils away.  :stare:
I even saw a tile picture on the wall~
Up on the roof, there's some stuffs with funny shapes, they are just like a hat!
But then I know these are for the gods, they have a strong but nice smell. :D

Since Hong Kong Islandis having a hilly landscape, there are slopes everywhere,
therefore a Mid-Levels Escalator was built for citizens.

By using it, I can go up very easily and fast!  :D
On my way, I passed through the SOHO area and see a lot of restaurants of different countries.
They have a nice interior settings and I even saw a whale decorated outside the restaurant! Cool~  B)

Then I saw some fishbone hanging on the roof top of some buildings,  :stare:
I just wondering whyit is so, and then vi told me that they are not fishbone~
They are actually some television channel  receiver of some old television,
can be seen on the roof top of many old buildings.

The underground railway system is well developed here.
The stations are always clean and tidy.
The one today is East Tsim Sha Tsui Station,
it's a station where the East Rail meets the West Rail, and Kwun Tong Line as well,
so you can imagine how large this station is!
From the signage, I find that there are many exits here, they are named in alphabets, started from Exit A, and up to Exit P!!! wow~  :cyclops:

Right outside the gate, there are usually customer service counter,
add value machine (for octopus users) and ticket selling machine.
On the machine, you can find the whole system map on the screen,
and both coins and money note can be used.

There are 3 tunnels under the Victoria Harbour,
for the cars going to and forth between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island.
This is the Cross Harbour Tunnel in Hung Hom, the busiest tunnel, :)
which locates right at the middle of the harbour.

I headed to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre at Wanchai today.
I saw some nice exhibits there.
I also took a photo with the tallest (right, ICC at Kowloon) and the 2nd tallest (left, IFC at Central) buildings.

At night, I had my dinner in a chinese restaurant.
There's a window that shows how the chefs work inside the kitchen.
Some foods are hanging up, from the left:
squid, red sausages, goose, chicken, the last  is roasted pork.

There's a foot massage store nearby, people believe that this can help to keep healthy,
because different parts refer to different body parts. :o

This is the whole view of Star Ferry Pier at Tsim Sha Tsui,
I always travel the ferry with vi,
see, there's a ferry hust leaving~

Behind me is the Clock Tower, it's a heritage,
being part of the former train terminal, it was kept in the original,
while the train terminal had been move to Hung Hom.

And can you see the 5 flying flags?
It's a famous landmark for waiting during the time that mobile is not popular. But people still love to wait for their friends there~  :)

There are many highways and bridges here,
so there's very often that the bridges cross the hill top!

I was in the Hong Kong International Airport today,
it's very very very big and lots of people and tourists,
crowded and busy!

There are even terminal 1 and terminal 2, can you imagine how big it is? :o

Guess what did I do today?
I have been to my favourite place - library, and be a chubby book worm~  ;)

There are 18 districts in Hong Kong in total, every district has their own library,
the one I visited is in Cenrtal, the City Hall Public Library.

It's on the 2nd -6th, 8th - 11th floor of the building,
divided into children library, adult library, reference library, audio, newspaper and so on.

People usually go to the 3rd floor, where adult library locates.
There's a corner displaying the new books,
and computer searching system for readers to find what they want.

I find a machine very interesting,
vi told me that it's the self-serve borrowing machine,
a slip with be printed and given to you after you have "beep" your borrow card and all the books,
on the slip there are borrowing date as well as returning date.

However, vi was in a hurry that she gave all the books to the borrowing counter...  :(
she promised to let me try the machine next time...
I will remember this and remind her next time! :cyclops:

When we back home, the outer wall of the library had changed it's colour~

Randomly I saw some large artpieces....
the are some wooden sculpture....
actually all are forest animals in an abstract way!

I was excited and took photos with my friends snakey & Ferda at once.
There are deer, snail, bear and... rabbit!

There's a small chair inside the snail, so I just went inside and take a little rest.

These two are the well-known local street snacks,
the first is fish dumpling, but when you have it in chinese restaurant or tea house,
they will be stuffed/ made with pork,
the second one is fishball, the surface is very slightly fried to make it a bit brownish-yellow.

The two are served in a bamboo stick,
you can have sesame sauce, chilli sauce or what ever you like too!

And ya, due to the ash storm of volcano in Iceland,
you may need to wait for a little bit longer to my surprise...
I'm not gonna tell you what's inside! Hee hee!! B)

I was finally in the crowded place in Hong Kong!
It's Mongkok, in chinese it means a place with many people, and I agree that this name is absolutely suit the place!

I went in a restaurant and luckily it's not crowded.
I had some salad and pizza, and salmon as well.
I also found a tasty mustard sause!  :p

After dinner, I went to have a try of the local desserts,
see what's inside the menu?
there are many choices!
cold one, hot one, some with ice cream, some with fruits....  :o
finally I chose to have the second one, it's with a square shape bowl,
what I had is the hot mixture of sesame (black) and walnut (light brown)~

I walked around Central and meet the environmental- friendly transport, tram, it uses electricity.

Buildings all have their lights on, oh, many people are still working in the office...

And then I came to the Legislative Council Building,
but it closed already, so I just took few pictures outside.

It's my first time to be on the double-deck bus, however,
there are too many people so I can only manage to get the seat in the last row....
I would love to be on the first row!! maybe next time....

Ferda was with me and it's funny to say hello to people who are on another double-deck bus.
Buses are quite fast and can see that there are many signs on the road.

A visit to Hong Kong Park with Miegalyte & Hypno-dog.

When we got into the Park, there's an eye-catching fountain in front of us,
and what surprise me is... you can go into the fountain!  B)
Vi told that it's lots of fun inside and will absolutely all wet after going in.

There are some special and funny-looking plants in the Park,
for example, the 400-year-old jujube (also called Chinese date) tree and,
the balloon-like butterfly flower.
The fishes in the pond are so big that I am a bit scared,
it's glad that they wont jump out and bite me!
They are in many colours and got a big big mouth!  :o
In the pond, I can see some tiny black dots, and all dots are actually tadpoles.
And some unknown insects that can walk on the water surface.
I found a turtle family, I look at them behind the grass secretly,
because I don't want to frightened them.  :)

Then it's time to have some adventure~
We came to a waterfall and behind it is a rocky cave.
Looking the waterfall from its back is quite interesting,
it really took some time for three of us to climb to the top,
it's hard but we finally made it! Yeah!!  :p :p

Finally we came to the conservatory, inside we saw many special plants and flowers.
Look, a leaf in heart shape~
Then comes the huge cactus and the silver flowers.
I even ride on a snail!  :cyclops:

I also took a picture with the pelican outside the aviary house.  :D

Western Market is a remarkable building and it's a landmark in the district.

It is a well-known place of cloth and experienced-tailor,
there are kinds of cloth for you to choose, it's just like a maze!
Many tourists come here to make there ideal clothes.
See how beautiful the patterns on the cloth~
Other than clothes and dresses,
I think sewing them as a handbag will be a great idea too!  ;)

You know what?!?! What I did today was just COOL!!!  B)
I went to the Space Museum at Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon with my TV friends here,
Michel, Ferda & Hypno-dog.
It's a sphere shape building and really looks like a giant white egg.

Inside we saw some exhibits showing the law of gravity,
the solar system, and the most unforgettable experience is...
I was in the outer space~  :cyclops:

Other than all these, we bought a ticket from the OMNIMAX Show,
there are three of it, we chose the "Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure".
We wated it in a sphere shape theatre,
the creatures were so close that seems they are jumping out from the screen!

and it's not far from my home~

The days here are happy and fun,  B)
Vi told me that though Hong Kong is part of China,
it's different from other cities in China,
maybe I will visit other cities in China one day.

Hey, it's time to go, gotta pack my things,

I've finally arrived at my new host. It's been quite a journey from Hong Kong to Germany, but thank god I got some sweets. Travelling in an envelope makes hungry! But what is this strange noise?
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6219.jpg

It was Lupus-Tigger who was jumping up and down for exitement because he wants to get to know me. He and Muumipeikko gave me a big welcome hug. They told me, that I have arrived in the perfect place when I want to visit a library. My host Katrin studies Libraries and Information Sciences and will show me at least three different libraries while I'm staying with her.

I'm in Hamburg right now and as you can see the Germans are really crazy for soccer. There is the World Cup in South Africa and right now Germany plays against Serbia. There is no goal yet as you can see an the screen which usually shows when the next train leaves the station. I'm on the way for a short vacation trip, that's why I can't watch the game. Later I heard that Germany lost the game with 0:1.

I'm in Schwerin, the capital of the state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Katrin is visiting her boyfreind over the weekend and she shows me her favourite place of the city: The Schwerin castle. It is build on a small island.
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6224.jpg

I also walked trough the castle garden and suddenly I got this wonderful smell in my nose. There were many wonderful roses and some of there blossoms seem to have the same size as me!
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6225.jpg

Right opposite of the castle are the state theater and the musuem. During the summer month, they play an opera at the square in front the two buildings. This year they even use the steps of the museum building as stage.

Since there is not much place for a garden in the city, we took the car and drove about 15 minutes to a garden plot. Let's see what I discover behind this gate.
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6230.jpg

It's a wild garden with lots of flowers and trees. Since I'm just a small rabbit, I feel a bit like jumping through a big jungle.
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6231.jpg

But when you are small, you can also discover wonderful things like these cactuses...
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6235.jpg

...or the first red strawberry of the year. It tasted really sweet. ;)
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6236.jpg

After a while I finally reached the little house in the middle of the garden where Katrin has already been waiting for me.

Today you can tick of one of my life missions: I visited a library! It's the Hamburg State and University library. I already told you that Katrin is going to be a librarian. She has a job in the department for old books and she is showing me her office today. By the way "old books" meands here, that the books have been printed before 1850.

The building of the library is not very nice, but this room inside is. The building has been a school until the 1920's when it became the library and all the offices have been class rooms before. This big hall is used for presentations today.
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6266.jpg
#http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6267.jpg

Katrin's job for today is some research at the database
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6264.jpg

It's not very interesting and I decided to discover the room. I found some very old books like this encyclopedia...
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6269.jpg

these latin books
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6270.jpg

and this wonderful decorated and illustrated bible

http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6272.jpg

This calendar shows book plates. Book plates are very important for old books because they tell you who owned the book. This book plate with the bear is really cute.

Katrin doesn't like this library because it looks like a long tube with the shelves on one side.

But when you look out of the windows you have a nice view over Hamburg because we are on the 7th floor.

What the letter said? Katrin got a positive answer from the university in Leipzig where she is going to study the next two years to get her master degree.
The letter also brought bad news: Since Katrin will move to Leipzig in September, she can't take care of more than two TVs anymore because the next weeks will be very busy.
