My first travelog update! I had to leave Hungary in a hurry to arrive in Germany in time at my first host, that's all I got to know. Well, it was a short journey, today I arrived at Katrin's house. When I crawled out of the envelope, a little donkey was looking at me. That's Stutz, who is staying with Katrin right now.
After a nice welcome I got to know the reason for the hurry in Hungary: we are going to go to Berlin, the German capital, tomorrow! While Katrin was packing her things together, we were checking which train we could take. Here we are, ready to go! Katrin said, that we will go to a special place tomorrow for dinner and she is very excited about it. We asked her again and again, but she didn't want to tell us... |

Stutz and I are going to Berlin! We are travelling with the InterCity Express (ICE), a very fast train. It just took one and a half hour from Hamburg to Berlin. Here we are sitting on Katrin's boyfriend's arms.
In Berlin we had to go some stations by "S-Bahn" (kind of subway) to go to the hotel. At the station "Zoologischer Garten" we had to change the "S-Bahn" but we decided to spend some time wlking around. We saw this cinema called "Zoo Palast" which seemed to be an important place for people who like movies. On the opposite side of the street we visited the famous "Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche". The church has been build in honour to the Emporer Wilhelm I in 1891 and has been destroyed by bombs during the Second World War. Today there is a kind of museum in the hall of the church. Katrin has told us about a special place to go for dinner and here we are: The Hard Rock Café in Berlin! Of course we had typical Amercan food, a big cheeseburger and french fries. Then we had a look around the restaurant, it was so exciting to see all the guitars (yes, there was one from Bon Jovi, Katrin was happy) and posters, but the best place was this glass window with a picture of Elvis: Guitars and a leather jacket from the German rock band Scorpions: A broken guitar from Green Day: The next morning Katrin had to go to the US embassy to apply for her visum to study for two month in the US. Katrin's boyfriend took us with him and we discovered this huge bear in front of a museum about Berlin history. On the bear you can see sweets which were droped by parachute. This is a symbol for the Berlin airlift in 1948/1949. Later we met Katrin again and went back to the main station where we discovered another big bear. Can you see me? Now we were starting our trip to the "must-be-seen" places. This crazy horse is standing in front of the station. This is a restarant (?) in front of the station. In the fog you can the the famous "Alex", the TV tower which is located at the Alexanderplatz. The river Spree and an old guy guarding the bridge: Now we are in the gouvernment part of Berlin. This is the "Bundeskanzleramt", the building in which the chancellor is working. Another highlight of our trip: Seeing "Trabis"! These cars were driven in the former German Democratic Republic when there have been two German states. The look a bit funny when you compare then with today's cars and the are very noisy. The German Reichstag, in the building the German gouvernment helds their meetings. This is the street called "Straße des 17. Juni". At the end you can see the "Siegessäule". The next famous place: the "Brandenburger Tor". When you go through it, you go from the eastern part of the city to the western part. Today it's no big deal, but is a historical place since many people walked through it when the borders between the two German states were opened 19 years ago. The river Spree again. Somewhere here has been the "Palast der Republik", the place where the gouvernment of the former DDR met. This grey stones are the memorial for all the killed Jews during the Third Reich. It's nothing special at first sight, just a big place with these stones, but when you walk through it, it becomes more and more impressive. And, finally, the famous Berlin wall. There is a place were you can see some parts of it, today with historical notes. The Berlin main station. It is very huge, it's like a big shopping center and the trains are driving right trough it. The ICE back home, it drove 227 kilometers per hour! Pretty fast, you couldn't see much when you looked out of the window. Back home everybody was tired but Katrin bought some great doughnuts in Berlin. There were pretty sweet, but they were great to end this exciting weekend. |

babyamy Posted Nov 10, 2008, 8:04 pm |
Today I got to know why Katrin says about herself that she is a bit crazy sometimes. During her lunch break she was reading in some different travelogs and on her way back home she has decided to create a toyvoyager herself.
This means that she was looking for the wool she collects in a basket There was too much, the next step was looking for rests of wool in many different colors because in her mind she was going to crochet a colorful worm... I helped her as good as I could. Then Katrin started to crochet but the result actually doesn't really look like a worm...it's way to big! Then she was thinking about making a "thing"...well, her parents and her brother called her crazy. After having a shower she decided to create a ghost (great ideas always come in the bathroom)...a very colorful ghost, this is how far she got today. The ghost is still blind that's why I have to help him until he gets eyes... |

When Katrin came home today, she just picked me and together we went to garage to get some apples. These are the last ones from the apple tree which is standing in the garden.
Then we went to the garden since there was a full moon in the sky and Katrin wanted to take a photo of me with it - which not really worked very well...The moon decided to hide again behind the clouds. |

babyamy Posted Nov 12, 2008, 8:17 pm |
Do you remember the "thing" Katrin started to create on Monday? This is how it looks now. It has grown a lot and tonight I helped Katrin to fix it's eyes.
The thing has become a toyvoyager, too, it's called Etwas. That's German for "something". |
||
babyamy Posted Nov 13, 2008, 6:19 pm |
Today Etwas and I decided to help Katrin's mum to clean the house. We swept clean the stairs on our own.
Then we started to discover the house. I like this flowers, they look so great! This lady invited us to take a photo with her. She is welcoming all the guests when they enter the house. |

Today I had a very busy day. Katrin took me to the place where she is working to earn some money while she is studying.
We went to Hamburg by train. Here we are waiting at the station in Wrist for our train. Katrin shot this picture just a few minutes before the train arrived. We had to hurry to catch it. When we arrived at Hamburg main station, we discovered that they've started to decorate it for Christmas. Katrin is working in an office, today she has to send to invitations for the Christmas party to all employees. Later I helped Katrin to put stamps on letters. Katrin had to bring some old files down to the archive. It's in the cellar and it's very scary down there. This was our lunch today, sausages and roast potatoes. Luckily the office where Katrin is working is the campus of her university so we went to the canteen. After lunch Katrin has to do her favourite part of her job: go shopping! Here we are on the way to the next grocery store. Well, this isn't the place where we want to do the shopping, it's Katrin's favourite Asia store where she likes to buy Asian food. When we passed this building, Katrin told me that very known firms have their offices in there, like IBM and AOL. When we entered the small mall where the grocery store is in, Katrin got very excited: there were these candy machines which she just knows from her stay in the US. Look at this guy, I hope he'll find a nice family at Christmas... This is what Katrin had bought: coffee and lots of sweets! In the end we had three full packed bags! Back in the office the boss came, looked into one bag and said "Ohhh, sweets! You're an angel" Then he took some sweets and left Katrin alone. She was tired, since the bags got pretty heavy after walking with them for about ten minutes. This is Katrin's last task every day when she is working: bring all the letters to the mailbox. Today there are quite a lot! Katrin wanted to take a photo of me while I put them into the mailbox, but at the central station where to many strange persons (probably drunk) and she didn't want to loose me. The last photos for today: Hamburg central station and our train back home. And again we had to hurry to catch it, but in the train we found a seat and everything was fine. |

babyamy Posted Nov 16, 2008, 4:19 pm |
Although it's Sunday today Katrin has been busy writing her report about the practical work in the museum. She has read all her notes again and again and in the end she has written 9 pages!
|

babyamy Posted Nov 16, 2008, 6:56 pm |
These are the stairs to the attic of the house...
It looks dark and it seems to be cold, since cold air came down here when Katrin opened the hatch. Katrin was looking for a box for her friendship book and diaries from her school days. She needed space in desk drawer, but she didn't want to throw everything away. Then we had a quick look around. There were many packed things under these blankets and in these boxes, but it was getting too cold to have a closer look and we decided to go back into Katrin's room where it's much warmer. |
||
babyamy Posted Nov 17, 2008, 8:20 pm |
Today Katrin took us with her to Hamburg. But here we are at the station in Wrist. Look at the beautiful sun rise, it's going to be a beautiful day.
In the morning the sun was shining into the huge room you have to pass to enter the office of the archive. We decided to to take a bath in the sun. This was Katrin's work for today: She has this photoalbum and has to scan all the photos of the cars. The next step will be to make entries for each photo in the database but this will be her work for the next days. This is in front of the part of the museum, in which the exhibition of the Tempo-cars is. You can see old Tempo-cars on the photos of the photoalbum. Then Etwas decided to go back into Katrin's bag because it was getting too cold. But I wanted to see more. This is the excavator which belongs to the museum. It's standing in the yard of the museum. This is me in front of TRUDE, the drill which was used to build a tunnel under the river Elbe. It's so huge! This is what Katrin likes about Hamburg: You have to walk just for a few minutes and it doesn't look like a big city anymore... And this is the view when we turned around. The old bridge in the background is used by the subway. |
||
babyamy Posted Nov 17, 2008, 8:43 pm |
When we came home this late afternoon, Katrin's mum told her that there is a parcel waiting for her in her room. She didn't expect anything but when she saw the sticker on the parcel, she remember that she has ordered it a few month ago on the internet. Since it's been quite a long time, she had totally forgotten about it.
We opened it and it looks like a mess. It took Katrin some time to get through all the things and find out, what she got. Here we are with all the stuff: Notebooks, a pen, an USB-Stick and this funny blue guy which is an alarm clock. There also was a letter and Katrin remembered after reading it, that this parcel belongs to a project of students from the Hamburg University. They wanted to give useful presents to other students and this is the present box. |

It's time to say goodbye to my strange friend. I thought, TVs would look a bit more like me, but Etwas is...different. Well, today was his last day, tomorrow he'll start his adventures...and visits my mum on his first stop!
Bye Etwas, have a nice and short trip to Hungary! |
||
babyamy Posted Nov 20, 2008, 6:47 pm |
Today Katrin tool me to the museum again. I wanted to go with her because it is very boring sitting alone at home. Katrin told me, that there is another Tv on it's way to her but it'll take aome days until it arrives.
Well, the museum wasn't much better than waiting at home. Katrin had to fill out forms for all the photos of the photoalbum which she has scaned. I couldn't go out to explore the area since it was been raining most of the day and Katrin was to busy with her photos.... Hey, let's have a look into this silver package. Katrin got it from her boyfriend when the met at the station this morning. Ah, it looks like salami sandwich! It's his lunch for today and giving it Katrin means that he'll visit her around noon. This old piece of paper has been written in 1752 by a German king called Friedrich. The text is about smoking and growing tabacco in Germany. The content is not very interesting, but the writing. When you look at it, you can hardly recognize any letters... |

babyamy Posted Nov 23, 2008, 7:42 pm |
It's Friday again and Katrin took me to Hamburg to her work. Today we'll meet her boyfriend at the station and go home with him to Schwerin. There we are going to stay until Sunday.
Look at this, it's the first snow of this winter! These are two buildings on the campus of Katrin's university. It has been a factory before, that's why it looks so old. We are on the way down to the archives again. The door is the entry and the "statue" behind me... It's something technical, I think. Then we had a quick look around the archive... How about a new chair? Or do you prefer this old typewriter? Look at this car, it came from a town where it has snowed a little bit more than in Hamburg. We took this photo in the afternoon and all the snow on the grass has already melted away. Here you can see two buildings of Katrin's university. She is studying in the "blue tower" which you can see in the background. Now we are at the main station, look, they have decorated it for Christmas! This is the area, where you buy the tickets for the train. It's easy when you know how the computer work. At first you have to chose your destination at the computers in the front. You get a piece of paper with a code and go to the computers in the background. It scans the code and you have to pay for the ticket. It's printed when you have paid. About an hour later: we arrived in Schwerin. The station has been chosen as "Station of the year". It's very beautiful when you see it at daylight. |
||
babyamy Posted Nov 23, 2008, 8:05 pm |
Today we went for a walk around the city center of Schwerin. The sun was shining but it was very cold, too.
These are some of the old houses and a part of the old city wall. In front of a shop I meet a huge bear. He asked me whether I've already seen the castle. I haven't but Katrin said that we are going to see it soon. The town hall I even meet a strawberry rhinoceros! It's the symbol of the city Schwerin. You can find statues like this everywhere around the town. In the background you can see the cathedral of Schwerin. It's hard to take a good photo of it since all the other buildings are standing right next to it. We are a the market place right nnow where they are preparing the Christmas market. This is the "Petermännchen", I met it near the catherdral.
And here we are, the beautiful Schwerin castle! This is a closer look at the entry. Then we walked around the castle and walked through the garden of the castle. This is the plan of the garden, you can see the castle in the right part. It's on a little island. We even found an area of untouched snow. I took the chance and made a snow angel. This is one of the statues. There have been more, it look at the grey clouds, it started to snow again and we hurried back home. |
||
babyamy Posted Nov 23, 2008, 8:11 pm |
Today we had to leave Schwerin and took the train back to Hamburg. I got my own seat...
...but it was very boring and I decided to look out of the window. It got dark outside very quick and I decided to read in Katrin's book. |
||
babyamy Posted Nov 24, 2008, 7:29 pm |
A huge letter has arrived, Katrin says this must be her next guest. Can't wait to see him or her!
Katrin opened the envelope and I discovered a trunk and then the head and a sleepy voice asking: "Where am I, is this Germany?" Yes, it is! This is Luddie, the elephant from Hawaii. I gave her a big welcome hug. She was still a bit sleepy but happy to be out of the envelope after her one week journey. |
||
babyamy Posted Nov 26, 2008, 7:55 pm |
Katrin's mum has started to decorate the house for Christmas. When Katrin came back home today, Luddie and I had to show her what we had discovered.
These two wooden figures are sitting on the window shelf on the first floor. The bells on this photo are typical for Katrin's hometown, the way they are looking is called Fayencen. This website is in German, but when you click on "Kellinghusener Jahresteller" in the left frame, you can see some more Fayencen. We even met a small version of Santa Clause or the "Weihnachtsmann", that's how he is called in German. He said that we can visit him again and then he will teach us some German Christmas poems. |
||
babyamy Posted Nov 30, 2008, 6:15 pm |
Today we went to Lübeck, it's an old city near the Baltic Sea.
This is the most known sight of Lübeck, the "Holstentor". In front of the "Holstentor" there was this sleeping lion. It was snowing and raining the whole time, not the best weather to take photos outside... The Christmas fair, in the background St. Mary's Church. There were many many people and Katrin was scared to loose one of us, that's why she didn't take more photos. |
||
babyamy Posted Dec 1, 2008, 8:41 am |
Look at this! Although Katrin told her mum that she feels a bit to old to get an "Adventskalender", her parents gave her one with wine gum!
The door number one was on the left button side... ...and behind the door was a little bag of gummi bears! Katrin shared them with us. |

babyamy Posted Dec 1, 2008, 4:49 pm |
Katrin had a day off from work today and had had big plans what she wanted to do today... well, she did about half of it...
She wrote a letter to on of her pen pals and was happy, that she could finally use her paper with Christmas motives. The most important work of the day: write the presentation about her work in the museum for next week's event at her university. Katrin didn't like this work, but it must be done. This was her favorite work: preparing surprise letters for some other TV hosts. Since she read the Christmas wishlist thread yesterday, she's been busy and this is the result: three letters filled with little surprises. And finally Katrin discovered unknown creativity, she draw this picture forsararingham's art sketchbook. It's nothing special, but Katrin is proud of it since she hated art class in school. |
||
babyamy Posted Dec 4, 2008, 3:56 pm |
Katrin came back home at bit earlier today and she grabed us to take some photos outside. She was a bit sad, that she didn't take us with her to Hamburg yesterday, since it has been snowing more or less the whole day. Today most of the snow has been melted away...
This is the Christmas decoration in front of the front door. It was getting cold outside and we went back to the kitchen. Katrin wanted to show us, what she is going to eat for breakfast for the next years. This is millet, amaranth and buckwheat. She eats it with fruits and cream. On Monday Katrin went to the doctor's and the doctor told her, that she isn't aloud to eat anything which includes milk, egg and wheat/gluten anymore when she don't want to become really sick. It seems like Katrin has to change her eating habits a lot, but she has some plans and is still in a good mood... But there was a surprise in the mailbox, that cheers Katrin up at once: It was a letter from Eryah... ... with a little Christmas surprise! Katrin fell in love with the little pig at once, but she is still looking for a nice place for it. |
||
babyamy Posted Dec 7, 2008, 8:40 pm |
Today is "Nikolaus", Katrin seemed to be a nice girl during the last year since the "Nikolaus" filled her shoes with many presents. Luddie and I had to look. Katrin got some sweets and this little elk, but her boyfriend told her not send it away. Seems like he can read her mind, since the little elk has the perfect size to be a toyvoyager...
We are in Schwerin now, we are visiting Katrin's boyfriend. This afternoon we'll go to the Christmas Fair... |
||
babyamy Posted Dec 8, 2008, 6:56 pm |
This afternoon Katrin and her boyfriend and his family went to the Christmas market in a small town called Grambow. It took about 30 minutes by car to go there.
The first thing I discovered was this wooden sled. There were many tables in the house with hand-made things and lots of decoration stuff to buy. I'm sorry, this pic is a bit blurry...Well, it must be the smell of the soap bars... In the evening it was getting cold and I spend some time near the fire to warm a bit before we went back home to Schwerin. |
||
babyamy Posted Dec 8, 2008, 7:01 pm |
We're on the way back home to Kellinghusen. Katrin was reading a book but Luddie and I wanted to enjoy the landscape. Well, as long as there was enough light outside the window...
Back home in Kellinghusen I had to say goodbye to Katrin and my new friend Luddie. She gave me a big hug before I crawled into my envelope. My next host lives in Germany, too, so the journey won't take too long. |

yesterday we were at the "In Extremo" concert in Hannover. It was really great. But we didn't made any pics. Yesterday also some friends of my host family arrived and we made a little trip to the castel Polle (built 1285). It is also called the castle of Cinderella. Here are we with some pics with it: the view from the castle ruin: it is the view on the "Weserbergland". The river is called "Weser".. we are driving to the next castle: Castle "Hämelschenburg".. It is a castle of the "Weserrenaissance", a stil of the buildings in this area. theres a pyramid in the back: the lake in front of the castle was frozen, it is very cold here in the moment. and we also saw some geese: |

This weekend wasn't so nice. The weather was good, but my host mum was ill and my host dad had to write for his diploma. That's why we walked through the flat and wanted to look what we should do.
Here I am with the big map and the postcrossing cards in the living in room: I also found a card from Hungary: Then we found all the crystals which my host mum collects, they should help with different health problems: And we didn't know what we should watch, Mumu wanted to see a Horror movie, Dottie wanted to see LotR, Harold wanted to see Star Trek and I wanted to watch Gilmore Girls: so we decided to play a game, but there where so many games again, that we didn't know which we should take, it seems our host mum is board game addict: so we looked for a book: and the we read all our own books, I took a crime book of Terry Pratchett: And later we thought of making decos, those are little booklets which are sent through the world: This is a full booklet: And here we are decorating one: It was a nice weekend finally as we had a lot to do.. |

Hi Mummy,
I arrived in Remscheid today at my new host Katja's home. I was travelling with Harold Giraffe. We had a lot of fun in our envelope, it wasn't boring at all. We were welcomed by many ToyVoyagers. We took a welcome photo in the kitchen window. I hope you can see that it's snowing. In the evening Elston Echidna had a surprise: He has made lamingtons, a special cake from Australia, for us. He will leave tomorrow so it's his farewell dinner. Lamingtons are squares of sponge cage, dipped into chocolate icing and dessicated coconut. They are really good! Bye Peti |

Hi Mummy,
today the weather was sunny and of course we wanted to go outside. Katja wanted to meet a friend who is living in one of the other districts of Remscheid, in Luettringhausen. Luettringhausen is a really old district, with a lot of woodland around. We went there by bus. We went to the bus station in front of the central train station. On the next photo we already reached it. The next photo is showing the town hall of Luettringhausen. Katja's friend was already outside with the family dog, Pepe. Pepe is a four month old puppy. We took a walk in the forrest. The next photo is showing Pepe with another dog he met in the forrest. Pepe is the brown dog. He is a former stray dog from Portugal. He was adopted by Katja's friend's family. He is now four months old and will propably grow to a verly large dog. When we came home we played in the garden. They have a hanging basket-chair here! Sweetsy, the cute little gingerbread man, and Louis built a snow man. Katja got a piece of carrot from the kitchen and soon the snow man was ready. We were chilled to the bone than and went inside. Katja and her friend already made coffee. They also had sweets for us. Bye Peti |

Hi Mummy,
we took a walk today to the district Hasten and to the outskirts of Remscheid. Hasten is one of the oldest districts of the town, dwellings and mostly old factories close together. This district was not destroyed in World War II, so most of the old houses remained. Hasten is surrounded by woodland. We saw a hedge of holly, covered with snow. I liked it very much. We than went to pick up Katja's friend who wanted to walk with us. She is living in a district close to Hasten, it is called Rath, a housing area with mostly one-family-homes and terraced houses. From here you can see Hasten again, in the background. From here we went into the forrest. First we had to cross a road in the valley, than we had to walk uphill again. Katja told us that in summer many horses are grazing on these pastures. In the background you can see the hill with the town centre, unmistable the silhouette with the water tower and the tower of the town hall. We were walking along the border of the neighbour town Wuppertal. Hidden in the forrest are a few more small hamlets like this. We had so much fun in the snow! On the way back it started to snow again. Can you see it? Back home we all had to sit on the heating because our bums were wet Bye Peti |

Hi Mummy,
we had a party tonight! Do you know why? Theodore is Voyager of the week, so he had a reason to celebrate. Fluffytail and Louis even made a medal for him. We had delicious food: cheese, olives, tiny tomatoes, sweet pepper and nachos with cheese dip. I shared a delicious fruit juice with Harold. Maybe I will also become VOTW one day. Than I'll throw a party, too. Bye Peti |

Hi Mummy,
we visited the carnival procession in Lennep today. Lennep is one of the oldest districts of Remscheid. Katja's partens are living here and it's the only carnival processioin in town. It is helt for about 30 years on Carnival Monday. There were about 25 floats and marching bands. First we went to Katja's parents. They are living in the seventh floor, the top floor, of a multi-storey building in Lennep. From here you can overlook the whole old town. Many of those old houses are older than 250 years. The carnival procession started on a fairground and made its way through the town. It came around the street where Katja's parents are living, so we only had to go down to the street to see it. It was a rather small procession. In other regions of Germany, in Cologne, Duesseldorf and many parts more in the south of Germany, hell is breaking loose at carnival time, from Thursday, called „Altweiber“ (insuffiently translated to Woman's Carnival Day) until Tuesday. Almost nobody is working than, schools are closed and almost complete the population is celebrating and drinking gallons of beer (that's the part Katja also loves ) Still waiting for the procession ... It was coming than ... Traditionally they throw sweets from the floats into the crowd. We collected some of them and had a lot of fun. Bye Peti |

Hi Mummy,
Katja showed me the town hall today. In front of the town hall is a space where the farmer's market is taking place twice a week. There is also a pillar showing a lion, the heraldic animal of the town. The following photo was taking on our way back to work, after Katja's lunch break. I'm also living in a pretty art-nouveau-house, built in 1904, at the moment. Bye Peti |

Hi Mummy,
we went to the post office today to buy stamps. We took a walk than in our lunch break. Here is the shopping street, the pedestrian area. Katja showed us a fountain close to the post office. She told us that mostly children love this fountain because there are many funny things integrated. Some parts are rotating than with the flowing water, some parts are salivating water into different directions and there are sounds caused by the water. From here we walked into the direction of the central train station to walk along the route of tools. But where is the train station? Oh dear, this building site is the central train station, or better, it will be there in about half a year. Here we are at the entrance to the route of tools, which is a lane for pedestrians and cyclists through the town, made on a closed railway route. It was financed by many local industrial firms, most of them they produce tools. Along the lane you can find signs of those producers, also artwork made of tools or parts of them. The closer you are to the central station the more industrial areas you have, some still working, other only ruins. Katja forgot to change the camera settings from "close" to the normal setting, so the backdrops of the following photos are a little bit blurred (while I am looking really sharp and pretty ). In summer you can sit here to rest for a while. Here you can see some of the signs of the sponsoring companies. This bench is made of the axis of an old water wheel and an original sleeper. [img][/img] This is part of the former slaughterhouse. This complex is under preservation order. Nowadays these buildings are used by different companies. Here we are close to our home again. No more industrial sites, but a lot of pretty old houses Opposite of the church you can find a playground. Nobody is playing outside, maybe because it's lunch time. Bye Peti |

Hi Mummy,
we visited Katja's friend today. She broke one of the bones in the metatarsus about four weeks ago and she had to undergo an operation last week. She still cannot leave the house so we visited her. Katja and Karin are knitting socks when they meet. Katja bought a cheesecake at her favourite bakery. It was really delicious. Bye Peti |

Hi Mummy,
the weather is horrible, no more snow and sunshine. Have a look! This is the space in front of the town hall with the lion on its pillar. To cheer us up Katja decided to take us to the public library and later bake a chocolate cake. I think chocolate cake is the perfect thing when the weather is so bad. Here you can see us in the library. Back home Louis, Kelly, Fluffytail and Sweetsy made the chocolate cake. I'll try it tomorrow. Bye Peti |

Hi Mummy,
we had to walk to the post office today. Fluffytail and Kelly Bear were leaving today. We did not walk to the post office in the town centre but to the post office in the district Hasten. So Katja could show us more of the route of tools. We started exactly where we left the route of tools last week. Here are more of those rusty looking signs, this one showing the city arms. Here you can see wrench patters, stamped into the tarmac of the lane. You can also see patters showing tools on the ground. On the right side you can see a kindergarten, it is called "Villa Kunterbunt" (Villa Villekulla). I think you know Pippi Longstocking and her famous house? We than accompanied Kelly and Fluffytail to the post office and walked back to the town centre through the muncipal park. They have several sports facilities here in the park. The next photo was taken in the vicinity of my current home. Bye Peti |

Hi Mummy,
yesterday it was raining like hell in the morning. In the afternoon a friend called Katja and asked if she'd like to take a walk. She was unsure because of the weather but we nagged until she finally said "yes". The ladies decided to walk to Morsbachtal, one of the surrounding valleys where the creek Morsbach is running. First we had to walk to the district Hasten than always downhill. What you can see in the background belongs to the neighbour town Wuppertal. We saw the first blooming crocus in a garden. Look, what happened to the weather within 45 minutes! Here you can see creek Morsbach. There are some industrial plants along the creek, mostly companies which are existing for a long time already. Here you can see trail markings for several hiking trails. The R in the cirle is standing for "Röntgenweg", a hiking trail around the muncipal area of Remscheid, it is about 63 km long. The second marking is standing for the project "Regionale 2006". The encircled W is standing for a hiking trail around Wuppertal, the neighbour town. This hiking trail is even about 130 km long! This valley is marking the border between Remscheid and Wuppertal, so both hiking trails are overlapping here. The N means that is this a hiking trail which connects Friends-of-nature-houses. The next photo is showing one of the old companies in the valley. We left the valley than and had to walk uphill again to reach the town centre. It was a really nice trip today. Bye Peti |

Hi Mummy,
since Monday we had really lousy weather. It was raining, it was foggy, simply horrible. Today ist was looking much better. Katja had to return some books to the public library, so she took off with me, Decker, Harold and her camera. Here we are in front of the library. From here we walked to the central bus station. Katja decided to show us the district you can see in the left side of the next photo. It's situated on a hill like the town centre and is mostly adjoining woodland and green space. On the path along this road you can find a coal tub. It was a present from Wansbeck, Remscheid's twin town in the U.K. We reached Hohenhagen than and we took some photos. From here you can see the town centre with the tower of the town hall and the water tower. They have one-family houses here, multi-family houses and also multistorey buildings. You can see here that behind those houses there is nothing but grazing land and forrests. Can you see the transmission tower in the background? Katja does not know its purpose, maybe for radio or television. Those houses were built in the 1970s. We rested in the late afternoon sun for a while. We are now close to the central station, or better, close to what is supposed to be the central station in about half a year. They are building a new one, like Katja told us. You can see one of the most unattractive parts of the town here, the main traffic junction. We than walked along the building site of the central station. We found a dry place for another rest. Really ugly! We made it home without getting too dirty. Bye Peti |
