Rally, Lisbon, Portugal

Jiles Posted Jul 5, 2008, 9:39 pm	Hello! I am Rally, a curious pig. I'm born in The Netherlands but I'd like to see more of the world. Tomorrow I'll start travelling already. My first destination will be Lisbon in Portugal. To give you an idea how I look like, some pictures!

Swit Posted Jul 8, 2008, 11:06 pm	Hello mom! Guess where am I now! I'm already stretching my legs. It feels good to came out of the envelope. And I already received good news! I'll travel again on Thursday, this time in a confortable bag.  I'm not telling where I'm going, you'll need to see on my travelog!  In the meanwhile, I'll be enjoying my new friends!
Swit Posted Jul 9, 2008, 10:02 pm	Today the mailman brought a something that look familiar to me, a bubbled envelope! First I thought my host decided to send me away already but then I saw the inside was mooving. There was something inside. Since I'm curious pig, I decided to investigate. It's a dog!    I've seen it on ToyVoyagers, his name is Woezel and he has just arrived from Estonia. And he's Dutch like me!  We'll have a lot of fun together, we don't even have a Language problem!  Then it was time for packing, I'm so happy I'll have a friend with me! See you next week!
Swit Posted Jul 15, 2008, 10:53 pm	07H30 - Me and Woezel are at Lisbon's airport waiting for our flight We even played a bit on a kids area. I already see the bus that will take us to the plane! And some other planes, but not our plane yet. The bus took us to the plane. The Air France plane is so cool!  I can't believe I'll fly in a plane! We still don't know where our host will take us but I'd bet it's France!!!  We took a seat at the window, of course, we want to see everything! And off we go! We can see the clouds out there. What country will we see next?
Swit Posted Jul 20, 2008, 10:25 pm	I'm out of the bag. Before going out and see where I am, I'm going to take a bath. WOW! Mickey Mouse is here! Me and Woezel met on the room and we tryed our bed. Looks nice! Our host finaly showed us where she took us: to Disneyland Resort Paris!  We are going to enter inside now!
Swit Posted Jul 22, 2008, 11:30 pm	I'm in! Wow, this is REALLY beautiful!  I'm at Main Street! There's a lot of shops in this area - me and Woezel found very pinky items! And stuffed toys!  Hi Donald Duck! First we went to Frontierland Great lake! And it has real ducks. And a very big boat - Molly Brown, the Queen of the River! We saw an old abandoned house. Too bad, we are almost finishing our boat trip!
Swit Posted Jul 25, 2008, 5:36 pm	Today we saw Minnie Mouse, she was taking photos with kids and we got in the way! Then we just walt around. Cool, we found the train station! Time to walk again! An hounted house! Let's go there! From here we have a great view of the lake! A bat on the wall... Creepy! We were glad when we got out of there! Now let's see something much better: The Castle of Sleeping Beauty!  The castle is really awesome! The daily parade is going to start, let's see it! Another walk... I think I'll fly with Dumbo! But first, we are hungry and an apple of love looks really delicious! At dinner we had another speciality: Mickey's pizza!
Swit Posted Jul 28, 2008, 10:50 pm	Today me and Woezel went to Paris, to see the City of the Lights.  First stop: Le Sacré Coeur. There was a cool carousel there but they didn't let us go in! The view from up there was amazing! The whole area is awesome. WOW!!!  I found my french twin!  We even saw Montmartre's artists! And a sweet shop! Time to go back to the subway and more street walking. Next time we must take the funicular, we would have reach the top faster! Before entering the subway we saw some shops on sales. A post office station remind us we should buy stamps to send some cards.  Next stop: Le Arch du Triomph We walk down Les Champs Elysées. Oh La La, a Cartier store! And Disney's!  France is hosting the Presidency of the European Union, the city is more beautiful than usual! We finaly reached the street we were looking for, we wanted to visit Le Marché Aux Timbres. On the other side of the street a different "market": Christie's!  We saw a lot of cards and stamps there! We need to eat now. Where must we go next?
Swit Posted Jul 30, 2008, 10:25 pm	Belly full, time to start travelling again! The subway station we used this time has a strange name... Bir-Hakeim! We see a huge tower from here! Let's go see it more closely. We walk aside the Seine river, in a Unesco protected area!  Here we are, at the beautiful Eiffel Tower!  There are nice flowers on gardens here and also on a shopping area near here called "Le Marché des Fleurs". More walking on this beautiful part of the city, there's so much to see! Can you guess where are we going now?  A last photo to say goodbye to this awesome river! L'Hôtel de Ville is really beautiful! We arrived at our last place to visit. Notre Dame Cathedral! Time to buy some cards...  On the way to the subway we entered the Quartier Latin. So much life here! A dutch book! It remembered my beautiful country...  Yummie!!! This looks really tasty! BYE PARIS!!!!!!!!!!!
Swit Posted Aug 2, 2008, 2:30 pm	Today we walked around the hotel Santa Fé. I'll miss it! The number of our building! I'll miss this snake... and having a Coke machine some meters away from the room.  On the back of the hotel Santa Fé is he hotel Cheyenne. Looks very nice too! There were a lot of bees on these flowers! Back to the hotel, to choose the vouchers to eat at the hotel restaurant. We are going to visit Disney at night today. See you later Stitch, you can't come with us! Our friend has a special show at Disney Studios Park! So dark now! But everything still looks nice.
Swit Posted Aug 2, 2008, 2:53 pm	Last day... Time to pack things and say goodbye to Disney... Last ride on hotel's buses... Bye Princess Castle... Bye Marne-La-Vallée train station... The airport bus shutle is already here... ... and soon we were at Charles de Gaulle Airport. The train station. Congratulations to France, it has a very well organised transportation system. Playing hide and seak while we can be without the security belt. Already flying! BYE FRANCE!!!!!!!
Swit Posted Aug 4, 2008, 10:00 pm	A tipical Summer day here. I visited the Cais do Sodré area. This garden helped me relax a bit. A statue! Let's take a closer look.  It's dedicated to a famous portuguese general. I was more interested on this big tree! But not for long, must take the train soon. Humm... let's see this building first! It's Mercado da Ribeira, where fresh food like meat, fish and fresh flowers are sold. OOPS! I was in the front of it, sorry! Got to go now, bye!
Swit Posted Aug 17, 2008, 10:21 pm	Today I went to see the Mãe de Água museum, in Lisbon. It's the main tank where water was stored to be distributed in the city, brought by the Aqueduto das Águas Livres. They are very important constructions of the XVIII Century. First I visited the drain part of the museum, with free entrance. It's so dark here! And so many old rusty pipes, still working! I was happy to come back to the surface! UFF!  To go to the upper part of the museum I saw nice portuguese blue tiles on the outside. There was a garden there and a nice Kiosk. I'm almost there, I can't wait to go in!
Swit Posted Aug 28, 2008, 12:25 am	Uff! I'm finally at the upper part of the complexe. I'm going in! It has a small garden outside. And a statue... I had some fun on the small palm tree too! I see an animal from here. It's a scared cat! I saw an old foutain, still with running water! The Museum entrance.  It received an award from The European Council! And I've just found out why! I'll walk around quietly and without speaking, the silence here is truly golden! A big wheel! I tried to moove it but I couldn't! I was lucky I dind't fell on the water... I see some stairs, let's see where they are going! WOW! I'm passing through the main fountain! Some tunnels are closed...  I reached the roof! Great view of the city from here! I also see the garden where I played with the cat! Feels good to rest a bit enjoying the Sun before going back inside!  Pretty tiles on a house sided with the museum. Bye Mãe d'Água! Where next?
Swit Posted Nov 1, 2008, 8:23 pm	A day in the city. I went to "Jardim da Estrela", in Lisbon. A statue in honor of the founding and conquering of Brazil. Let's see what is inside the garden... Some fresh water. "Roses from Galilea, offered by the people of Israel" - but, where are they? Ah, here they are!  A nice "coreto". It was used to play music. Sorry, I was on front of it... Shame on the nonsensed people that has done this!!!  Oh, what a lovely cactus flower!  There were some pigeons there too. And ducks. I'm leaving the garden now. Another day I'll show you the rest of the photos I took today.
Swit Posted May 20, 2009, 12:23 am	Still here! I left that garden and decided to continue discovering that part of Lisbon. I immediately found the Basilic of Estrela. I see a yellow tramway getting closer! I better stay out of the street!  And a red one. I found out these reds are only for tourists. That's me!  Then I saw some traditional buildings, some with portuguese tiles. And this is the corner of the official house where the Prime Minister lives. I'm being watched by those cameras! Hi! Here I am with a traditional clothing from the university students!  Continuing the PM house is the Assembly of the Republic, where the laws are discussed and voted. I also visited the gardens on the side. It had some interesting statues. I liked the lions the most! It's getting late. Now it's the time to visit the front part of the Assembley building. Bye for now! I'm tired!

Swit Posted Jun 6, 2009, 12:41 pm	My trip continues... This building is the Procuradoria Geral da Republica, the organism that surveys the aplication of the law here. This green building looks cool too... Did I arrive in Miami????  Let me check inside... it's the "Jardim Botãnico" = Bothanic Garden, with a green house and gardens, I'm going in. There's lots of plants, flowers and trees. And statues: And tributes to important bothanics: The toilets! Excuse me for a moment!  This mushroom rocks!  This must be beautiful in winter, with the water coming down here. It really feels great to rest at the sun...  It's time to go to the first level again, it's getting late! More gardens with flowers... And a small artificial lake The fauna here looks too interested in me! I better run!!!! Bye!!!!
Swit Posted Jun 23, 2009, 11:21 pm	Hello! Another day in the city. I went to a small garden today. It's called "Jardim do Principe Real" = Royal Prince's Garden. I found a kiosk that sells Unicef cards during Christmas Season: It has very ancient trees. And a small lake: I've seen this building on a stamp!  Bye for now!
