Mausi is a likable mouse. She likes the stories written by Terry Pratchett. And of course she likes cheese as every mouse does. Mausi also has a sense for black humor.

Mausi will leave tomorrow. She's heading for Austria.

At the moment she's eating an apple to be fortified for her journey.

Hi,
today my adventure started. I went with mom into her office where she packed my envelope. I'll bring a very small notebook with me, where all my hosts please write something about my journey and their address.

And I've got a little present for my first host, chrissini.

In the morning I sat on the photocopier and kept mom from working too much.

During her lunch break she took the last photos and I climbed into the envelope. I'm glad that my first trip will be rather short. Maybe I arrive in Austria tomorrow or on Thursday.

Alex, mum's daughter put my envelope into the postbox.

chrissini, I'm coming  :D

hi mommy!!!
i arrived today in austria. lucky me that the distance was not too big and i hadn't to stay in this little envelope for ages!
i was greeted here by my host (of course) and the little peep that chrissi has adopted from michele_one_l which also arrived here today.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3003/2345308824_47c3193894.jpg?v=0

and here am i!!! ;)
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2419/2345308828_f1359d50e8.jpg?v=0

when i arrived, chrissi was just making breakfast and as i was very hungry, she made something with puff pastry for me, too. it was filled with raspberry jam and it was really delicious.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2009/2345308832_9cce0a09ae.jpg?v=0

now she has to do some things in the house to help her mother a bit, but maybe we will do something more excited in the evening.
i'll keep you updated, mom!!!
bye bye,

hey mom!
many greets from austria!! it's great here although the weather really sucks. snowfall, snowfall, snowfall, 10 minutes sun, rain, snowfall etc...

today we went to wels, that's a little city about 15km away from where chrissi is living. we met there with her best friend raphi to have a cup of coffee.

this is the bus station and behind the train station of wels:

and this is me at the change over of the train station waiting for raphi to arrive.

as you can see on the picture, it was raining again, so we decided to just have a cup of coffee and to chat a bit.
here is the coffee shop to which we went:

helloooooooooooooo :)
i hope you're fine, mommy!

in the morning, chrissi went jogging, but i decided to stay at home, because it was again raining and snowing and windy... i don't want to get a cold.

so meanwhile i stayed at home and read a bit in a local newspaper.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3269/2350558410_40a922cf8a.jpg?v=0
it was very interesting, there were many stories about all the villages around here. this newspaper comes once a week.

in the afternoon we went to another gathering with some friends of my host. they haven't seen for a long time.
we had to took the train, i think it was really comfortable.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3200/2350558434_60b8692005.jpg?v=0
unfortunately the meeting was really weird, we just had another cup of coffee and some small talk, but the mood was not the best one. so we decided to leave early and now we relax a bit at home.

hugs,
mausi!

hi mom,
as i want to have a recipe with cheese from every host, we decided to help chrissi to cook.
here are the main ingredients for this meal:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2176/2388588461_e542e1c250.jpg?v=0
some vegetables (we chose carrot, cauliflower, bush beans and onion), shortpastry and of course cheese :)

first we wahed the vegetables and chopped it in little pieces. then we put it into a pan and stir-fried it.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2016/2388588465_49c4f60a3f.jpg?v=0

after that we added some herbs, in our case it were mixed italien herbs, put the vegetables onto the shortpastry and then put the cut cheese over it.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2346/2388588471_2bcd7f521f.jpg?v=0

now it only has to be in the oven for about 15 to 20 minutes.
this is our result:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2028/2388588475_e6a041e01b.jpg?v=0

yummy, it's like pizza, only better and healthier :) now i can't wait to eat it.

then we visited a market, where they sell fresh flowers, vegetables and fruits.
it is always in the morning.

luckily we went by foot, because we passed a radar.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3278/2410122849_406f386e43.jpg?v=0
hopefully, the drivers weren't too fast...

then we passed a tree nursery:

Hi mom!  I'm in Canada!  Abby didn't arrive home from school until late, so I had to stay in her mailbox for a few hours, but another TV, Dolly, arrived in the mailbox the same time I did, so we talked about where we were from and our travels so far until we were rescued out of the mailbox.

Upon arriving we were immediately greeted by one of Abby's cats.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/April-23-2008-001.jpg

But then we both felt a little tired from our travels, so we decided to hop into bed.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/April-23-2008-006.jpg

Then Abby's cat decided that we needed some more insulation...

Afterwards, we went to Dairy Queen.  I helped Abby eat the new tin roof brownie blizzard.  Mmmm.

Today we went to Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.  It's a big market with lots of little stores and booths, and lots of ethnic foods.  It's right across the inlet from downtown Vancouver.

I decided to check out a few of the stores.

This store sold things with native designs on them

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/April-27-2008-023.jpg

This store sold things made out of alpaca wool.  These animals and slippers were very soft

The store sold these dolls as well.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/April-27-2008-033.jpg

This was just in case I forgot where I was.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/April-27-2008-036.jpg

This picture is kind of blurry, but if you look in the centre, but towards the right, there's a yellow arrow that points to where we are.

In the food court.  We didn't eat one of these, but they're a very Canadian thing.  Big flat pastry things with various toppings' the most popular is cinnamon and sugar.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/April-27-2008-074.jpg

We ended up eating there, but everyone ate fish and chips and there was no cheese to be found :(

Later we went higher to try to get a better view.

There were some trees in the way.

Vancouver's down there...somewhere, but it wasn't a very good day for picture taking.

Kind of a blurry picture at night.

Today was Abby's mom's birthday, so we surprised her with dinner.  We were so busy eating that we forgot to take pictures, but Abby wandered outside after dessert to show us Gastown.

Gastown is one of the oldest parts of Vancouver.  Most of it was destroyed in a fire at one point, but there are a lot of really cool old buildings around; most of them are now tourist shops.

The most famous part of Gastown is the steam clock, the only one in the world.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-042.jpg

Up and down the street.  They're giving that one building a facelift.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-024.jpg

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-026.jpg

See all the tourist shops?

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-032.jpg

This was on the building that our restaurant was in.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-043.jpg

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-044.jpg

Here you can see some of the mountains to the north of Vancouver.  The red things in front are part of Port Vancouver, at the shipyards.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-036.jpg

The building with the sails is called Canada Place.  Under the sails are large rooms that are used for grad dinner/dances and conventions.  There is a hotel attached.  At night they light up the sails with coloured lights.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-038.jpg

In the distance you can see the back of Waterfront Station, where the daily commuter train stops.  I heard the front is impressive, but I didn't get to see it.  Hopefully I'll be able to see it before I leave.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-039.jpg

In the distance (sorry the picture is so dark, the sun was beginning to set), you can see Harbour Centre,.  The thing that looks like a spaceship on top is a revolving restaurant, but most of the building is owned by a local university, and their communications department has classes there.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-034.jpg

One of the nearby buildings.  Abby doesn't know the history of this one, but on the bottom floor/basement there's a Mexican restaurant that sells real Mexican food.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-049.jpg

One of the many alleys in Vancouver.  Gastown is on the edge of the famous downtown East Side, which is known for its homeless and drug users, which is why we didn't go down any of these alleys.  I wasn't scared while wandering around the area though, because I had my host's family protecting me :]  You can see Harbour Centre again in the background.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-045.jpg

This picture was taken in the car, which is why there is a reflection.  This place is called Victory Square; Vancouver's war memorial is the big concrete block, and a ceremony is celebrated here on Remembrance Day, November 11, every year.  Dolly's reflection kind of obscures the wreaths in front of the memorial, which were placed there last week to commemmorate all the work'related deaths in British Columbia in the past year.

but she snapped a few while we were waiting.

Today Abby's mom took me to see Chinatown on her lunch break.

This is the Gate of Thousand's Happiness, built to commemorate the new millenium.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-001.jpg

One of these lions sits on each side of the gate.  They are the protectors of the gate.  They each have a ball in their mouth which symbolizes prosperity.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-002.jpg

This building holds the world record for the narrowest building in the world.  It was built by a man known to Vancouverites as Sam Kee.  At one point he owned more land in the area, but the city demolished his building to widen the road, leaving him with a strip of land just under five feet in width.  Rather than sell what remained of his property for practically nothing, Sam had another building built, one that fit into the strip of land.  For years the building belonged to a silk merchant, but now it's leased by an insurance company.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-5-2008-003.jpg

This bell, called the West Han Dynasty Bell, is in Chinatown to commemorate Chinese history in Vancouver and marks the first Chinese settlement in the area.  It was a gift from Vancouver's sister city, Guangzhou in China, and it was modelled after a bell found in Guangzhou.

This is the Maple Ridge clock.  The horse symbolizes the protector of the valley.  It represents a beast that fought for Mother Nature against those who were hurting the environment, but was gravely hurt in the process.  Mother Nature set up the clock as a reminder to not hurt the environment.

Happy mother's day, olgamaus!

We celebrated with a special lunch at a local produce store.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-11-2008-020.jpg

There was barbequed BC salmon in special sauce, coleslaw and a bun, with peach juice...

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-11-2008-009.jpg

And chocolate cake with fruit and custard on top for dessert.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a156/bolganeagh/Gems%20Stuff/TV/Mausi%20and%20Dolly/May-11-2008-012.jpg

This afternoon our host decided to go to the Salvation Army to look for teddy bears. She told us that there was a new TV named ThreadBear who was collecting teddy bears for children in South Africa.  :D

When she returned home she had a bag full of animals. She said that they needed a bath and a snack before they can be sent to South Africa. We asked if we could meet them. She said yes but told us not to be surprised if they didn't answer us. Boy was she wrong! We asked them questions and everyone was answering at the same time. We knew this was going to be tough.

We wanted to see what it was like to get a wash and dry at our host's house. Not a whole lot has been going on here lately. The weather has been terrible! Our host said she wanted to take us a couple of places but that she hasn't been able to because of the rain. We wanted to see for ourselves.  :( Our host was right, it's raining outside. So to keep us busy we decided to watch some DVD's. We couldn't agree on one title so we were going to watch 3 different ones.

This evening we took a ride over to New Hartford, NY because our host was looking for a cookbook to take with her tomorrow. First we stopped at Target to see if they had what she was looking for. It turned out that they didn't have what she was looking for so it was on to the next store.

After Target we went to Wal-Mart to see if they had the cookbook our host was looking for. Again they didn't have it! Our host's husband said that we should go to the bookstore, but our host said that she was being cheap and didn't want to pay the high prices at the bookstore.  So we left to go one more place before heading home. At the intersection leaving Wal-Mart our host spotted a rainbow! She was hoping that she could get to the next shop before the rainbow disappeared.

We made it just in time to see the rainbow from a different spot. It was beautiful! Our host couldn't believe how fast the sky went from blue and open to gray and cloudy. Maybe a storm was coming!

Everyone was caught up with seeing the rainbow we had forgotten that we had one more shop to visit. We went to Toys R Us. Our host was looking for a Care Bear and other stuffed animals. Sadly she didn't find what she was looking for. Her husband told her that Care Bears aren't as popular as they used to be. She didn't want to hear it! It's back to our host's home for some dinner and rest. We've been told that tomorrow will be a busy an eventful day.

This afternoon we went to the Turning Stone Casino as part of Michele's birthday gift. We were going to see Chef Tyler Florence! Our host told us that she has never been here before and that this is her second time ever going to a casino. It was a warm and beautiful day, what a shame that we would be spending it inside.

Posted Jun 2, 2008, 2:47 pm
Our host tried to take as many pictures as she could but it was really dark and we were close to the back of the room. Never the less it smelled great in there! Tyler made grilled pizza with fresh mozzarella cheese, home made spaghetti and meatballs and panna cotta for dessert! Too bad we didn't get to try any.  :( For some reason only people in the front were able to sample his food. Oh well!

After the show was over Tyler signed some autographs, but only on his cookbooks. Our host was thrilled! She said this was the best birthday she's ever had.  :D

Since Daryl and Michele weren't tired they decided to play card games. We were excited because we could play too. Gilbert, Muumipeikko and Bellatrix help shuffle the cards. Pebbels, Resi, Willy Wau and HitchaRideMo helped deal, while TheoSheep and I gave you a card on your turn (if you needed one).

Hello! What a lucky mouse I am! Mara & her husband are off on vacation for their anniversary, and they took us with them! We are going to Williamsburg, which is exciting in itself, but even more exciting considering that Plaid Moose used to live there! (back when Mara was in college at William & Mary, Plaid Moose lived on her desk!) So he's going to get to show us around! We started our trip by driving to Williamsburg. We tried to help navigate...good thing they knew where they were going!
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/map.jpg
We spent the afternoon walking around Colonial Williamsburg - the colonial capital of Virginia, and where a lot of early US history took place. Here I am in front of the Governor's Palace:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/govm.jpg
And here I am in front of the Capital building:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/capm.jpg
Then we stopped for lunch at a most exciting place for me - The Cheese Shop!
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/cheeseshopsign.jpg
It turns out that it's also a very popular place to get sandwiches - we had a very yummy lunch!
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/sandwich.jpg
Then we walked around the campus of William & Mary. It's the second oldest college in the US. Here I am in front of the Wren Building - the oldest building in continuous use on a college campus in the US. It's where Thomas Jefferson studied...and Mara took classes in this building too! (sorry for the shadows...it was very sunny!)
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/wrenm.jpg
And here we all are at Crim Dell - one of the most romantic places on a college campus in the world!
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/crimdell.jpg
We finished up at Mara's sorority house - where both Mara & Plaid Moose lived in college!

Once we were done sightseeing for the day, we went to check in at the hotel. Because they were celebrating, Mara & her husband stayed at Kingsmill, a nice resort with lots of really nice golf courses (pros play here!) on the James River. None of us play golf, but the resort is really nice! Here I am at the main resort building - you can see part of the golf course and the James River in the background!

And here we are on the balcony of our room!
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/balcony.jpg
After all that excitement, we were all ready to go to bed...all tucked in for a good night's sleep! :)

What a FANTASTIC day! We all went today to Busch Gardens! It was a rainy day, so we didn't take a lot of pictures, but, as Mara said, a rainy day at an amusement park is still a lot of fun! Here I am at the entrance...
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/signm.jpg
Busch Gardens is divided up into countries from Europe, and each area is designed to look like that country. So here I am in front of Busch Gardens' version of Big Ben in London!
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/bbm.jpg
After taking the picture, we had to decide what to do first, so we helped with the map again (still, a good thing that Mara knows her way around!)
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/bgmap.jpg
I didn't go on any of the rides (they were way too scary for a little Toy Voyager like me!), but here I am underneath one of the roller coasters - the Loch Ness Monster - which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year!
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/lnm.jpg
And here I am on one of the bridges overlooking the river and rides - you can see three of the park's roller coasters in the background, as well as the river cruise ride!

Our last day of vacation we spent in Yorktown - the site of the last major battle of the Revolutionary War. We started at the Victory Center, where there is a museum and a recreation of the Continental Army Encampment. Here I am listening to the artillery demonstration:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/canm.jpg
Then we looked at the supply tent:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/york.jpg
And here is the tent where George Washington would have stayed and planned the attack:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/tentm.jpg
Finally, we drove to the National Park site (where the actual battle took place) - here we are on one of the cannons:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/york2.jpg
I had a great trip, but I am glad to be going home (and glad to be getting some rest!)

Hello! Mara feels horrible that we haven't updated my travel log. But, I am still here and still having fun, even though we lost all of the pictures! It's been super hot here, so we've spent a lot of time inside. We read books, watch baseball, and play cards. I even stayed up till 2 am to watch the All Star Game! (sorry mommy - I know that was WAY past my bedtime!) As soon as Mara's laptop gets fixed, we can post the pictures that we do have! :)

Hi! Even though we can't find the pictures of us watching the All Star game (it was very late...Mara thinks she might have hit delete accidentally since we were up till 2 am!), we found a couple of other pictures of what we have been up to! It's been hot out, so we've been spending a lot of time inside. We've been playing cards...
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/cards.jpg
And Muumipeikko taught us about the Moomins (he kept telling us that he was a Moomin, but we didn't know what that meant!)
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/lt2.jpg
We've also been reading a bunch of books. My favorite is a book that Mara pulled out when I arrived - the mouse in it looks a lot like me!

It was Mara's husband's birthday this week, so we decided to help out with the celebration! First, we needed to bake a cake. Of course, Muumipeikko is always being silly, and hid in the egg carton!
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/eggs.jpg
Of course, it didn't take long for us to find him!
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/eggs2.jpg
Then I helped mix up the cake.
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/mixerma.jpg
After the cake baked, it was time to decorate it. Here I am putting the happy birthday candles in:

And here we are with the finished cake!

Don't you think we did a good job? :) Mara must have, because she let us come along to the restaurant for dinner. We went to a Japanese restaurant where they cook the dinner in front of you. I liked watching a lot - here I am with our chef!

What a fun night we had this week! We tagged along with Mara & her husband to a concert at Wolf Trap! Wolf Trap is a National Park - the only U.S. National Park for the Performing Arts. It's a very popular place here to see concerts/plays/etc. - it's an outdoor pavilion with a huge lawn behind it. Mara said that a lot of times they will sit on the lawn (since you can bring a picnic, and it's her favorite place to see a summer concert!). But since they were seeing a special performance by the National Symphony Orchestra as her birthday present to her husband, they decided to sit inside. It was hard to get a good picture of the entire thing, since I am such a small mouse! But here I am at the top of the hill in front of the pavilion:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/pavillion2.jpg
And here I am at the side before we went inside!
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/sidema.jpg
Can you see the trash cans at the very bottom? That should give you a good idea of how big the pavilion is! Here's a picture I found online of a good aerial shot of Wolf Trap:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/wmphimu/filene_aerial.jpg
And here I am before the show started. (sorry it's so fuzzy...you can't use a flash inside!) We saw Eric Idle performing with the NSO his new show, "Not the Messiah: He's a Very Naughty Boy".

So you don't worry, my flight number is: 03080660000132457333 (Mara says that you can track my flight at www.usps.com and to use my flight number as the tracking number!)

My host and her daughter and son had the idea to walk around the Mummelsee. The Mummelsee is a 17-metre-deep lake at the western mountainside of the Hornisgrinde in the northern Black Forest of Germany. It is very popular with tourists travelling along the Schwarzwaldhochstraße. According to legends, the lake is inhabited by a Nix and the King of the Mummelsee.

After an one hour drive we arrived at the youth hostel of Herrenwies in the Black Forest.
Herrenwies is a small small village with about 60 - 100 inhabitants or so. It belongs to Forbach and is located abou 750m above sea level. You have to drive about 7 km to reach another settlement. It's an area for holidays: in summer you can hike and in winter do winter sports.
We had luck, that the weather was really nice. So we had been able to go outside at once. While the pupils played on the playground and in the water, Petra took some photos of me.

Hello everyone! After my stay in Croatia I arrived in Bruchsal again. Today the weather is so so beautiful, that we decided to go on a walk through Bruchsal. Bruchsal was first named in 976, so the city is rather old. Nevertheless there are only a few old houses, because during World War II. about 80 % of the city was destroyed.

At first we walked through the citizens' park. Here you see the medieval tower and a part of the community centre.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6179/6222141937_fdfefc3818.jpg

The tower was built in 1358 and is the oldest building of Bruchsal. It belonged to the old castle.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6101/6222142293_ae6f05b516.jpg

We walked through the Huttenstraße with its beautiful old houses.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6104/6222142531_fcc0aa80e0.jpg

Then we arrived at the baroque palace area. All these houses  - about 50 single buildings all together - belong to the "new" palace of Bruchsal. In the far you see the Damian Gate, the end of the palace area.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6117/6222662012_bd784e3d23.jpg

We're now standing in front of one of the three entrances to the palace church called St. Damian and Hugo. From here you can see the county court, the Damian Gate and the tower of the jailhouse. The building on the left side houses the chamber music hall.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6048/6222143127_ab35804645.jpg

Inside the church you can see these plates, which show the palace during the years. It was built in 1722, started by Cardinal Damian Hugo von Schoenborn and finished in 1760 by Cardinal Franz Christoph von Hutten. On the top photo you can see, how it looked like after World War II. In the last photo we were standing just in the corner, which you see in the middle of this top photo, between main building and church.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6225/6222143233_60a57e9df7.jpg

The church wasn't rebuilt in baroque style. It is really modern. Somehow that's sad, but the costs were just too high.

Here we are at the backside of the church. You see, that the tower isn't directly next to the church.

This is the backside of the palace. In summer there are weeks, when they play open air theatre and in winter there is a second Christmas market since 2 or 3 years.

This pond is a place for ducks. Children love to go there and feed them.

Next to the main way through the palace garden you find a lot of statues. At one crossing you see in each corner one statue of the four elements: fire, water, earth and air. Here you see the statue fire.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6117/6222664138_e79025eb8e.jpg

In one side of the main garden you find a small rosegarden.

Back in the mainpart of the palace garden again we walked through a large chestnut-lined way. We found some chestnuts on the ground.

When we were in the mainway again, we came to another crossing. The statues in the corners show the four seasons: winter, spring, summer, autumn. Here you see summer.

We walked through a small gate, which you can see on the right side of the next photo. Here you see the mainbuilding of the palace.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6154/6222666634_5a8771a8ef.jpg

At last we read something about the palace history. It is a bit small, I'm not sure, if you can read it here, too.

This is the county court with the Amalienbrunnen (fountain).

The Amalienbrunnen is called Schnecklesbrunnen ( in Bruchsal dialect), which means snail fountain.

A last view back to the palace with the part, that houses the chamber music hall on the right side.

In the Damian Gate you can visit art exhibitions.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6103/6222149091_d33891f09e.jpg

Here's the jailhouse of Bruchsal. It is a very interesting building, at least from outside. There were and are some "famous" prisoners in it.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6160/6222149413_dd00d5ae04.jpg

I also read something about it here:

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6152/6222669054_bff8f22c8e.jpg

Then we walked to the hospital with its beautiful old part with the small tower. In the far you maybe see the statue of a nun. We will go there at next. There is the entrance to the small hospital chapel.

Here's the back side of the hospital.

The hospital is next to the prison, which you can see here again from the back side.

There are some beautiful old houses next to the Stadtgarten, another park. This house is one of them.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6092/6222151381_7d242eb615.jpg

In the park I saw this beautiful lime tree.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6234/6222151971_4620774153.jpg

This fountain is called Ferdinand Keller Brunnen. Behind the fountain you can see a part of a grammer school called Schönborn-Gymnasium.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6219/6222671616_b71b960493.jpg

The Belvedere is situated at the other end of the park. It was a former hunting lodge. Nowadays it is used for open air theatre during summer, too.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6093/6222671880_b52359961c.jpg

From this point on top of the Andreasstaffel you have a wonderful view over Bruchsal. You already have seen the medieval tower. The next tower belongs to the City Church Our Holy Lady and the next belongs to the Lutherkirche. The houses, which are in one line right in front of us, belong to the Huttenstraße. We had some difficulties to take these photos, because the sun was shining so brightly.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6019/6222672690_664790884f.jpg

Here you see the baroque church St. Peter in the far. If you take a look at the middle part of the photo right to the edge to the wood, you can see a big house. This house is called Sancta Maria. It is a school for social education and it is still home for Franciscan nuns.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6169/6222672758_b79578ca54.jpg

The buildings right in front of us and the white building in the far on the left side are all part of the old people's home. The big grey building behind the white is another grammer school called St. Paulusheim.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6098/6222672828_cfa34b7516.jpg

Once more we saw a beautiful house next to the Stadtgarten.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6051/6222672924_564accaa50.jpg

Here's the St. Paulusheim. It is a private grammar school, founded by patres of the Pallotti order.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6054/6222673280_37b49e367d.jpg

The wall to our right side still belongs to St. Paulusheim. In the far we see St. Peter again, where we will go at next.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6178/6222154357_e6df33dcfa.jpg

The church St. Peter is located at the edge of the graveyard. It is the only church, which survided the bombing on 1rst March 1945.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6042/6222154647_603d3a8d73.jpg

We took a view back to St. Paulusheim.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6174/6222674050_27a287ffe9.jpg

Then we went to read about a memorial stone and about the baroque church.

The view into the Petersgasse is our last photo of the walk through Bruchsal. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Today we drove to Rülzheim to visit the Straußenfarm Mhou, it is a farm with ostrichs.

I've seen many ostrichs, very young and really old and big ostrichs. It's a dangerous thing for us small toyvoyagers to walk between these big animals, but we all were safe, because they had double fences there, so the ostrichs had no chance to reach outside of there green fields and catch us.

Ostrichs can grow 2,60m high and weigh about 170kg. They can become 60/70 years old and lay eggs each second day.

There were also really nice autumn trees.

In the shop you can buy nice egg lamps,  but they are really expensive.

On our way back home we've seen some really nice houses.

Today is a special day for toyvoyagers.com. We've watched TV_TV from Galileo in German television. I've seen many famous other tvs at the beginning of the show and then there was TV_TV.

Today we sit in front of the computer to watch a flight from Berlin to New York, because our hosts's son sits in the plane. He will stay in New York for a week. It's a pity, that he only had space for two toyvoyagers and I had been the unlucky looser at this point, but I know, that I will travel with my host tomorrow - to Remscheid:)
I know, it's not New York, but I'm sure, I will have some fun too. And Petra told me, that I will meet someone, I know very well. I'm curious, who this might be
