Woohoo... I am in the Netherlands already!! That was a short trip :) I was so happy to get out of that envelope!!

The family welcomed me and made me feel at home immediately. Sem, the little boy of this family, started playing with me at once.

We drove around in his car, played with his table and watched TV together.

Today we went to a typical Dutch pancakes restaurant. It was raining all day so we decided to make a trip and eat some pancakes on the way. You can see the restaurant here.

This was the first foreign food I ate on my world tour. I hope lots will follow. Speak to you soon.

Today I met a fellow ToyVoyager Frida. Frida is staying at the home of Dorenda's (= my mum for now) sister. We only met briefly because both mums were very busy. But they promissed us to do something nice, real soon.

Today we went to a store were they sell furniture and stuff. Rather boring, you would think, but I saw this great girly bed of K3. K3 is a Belgium band of three girls, which is very popular with kids in the Netherlands and Belgium. It's very girly so I liked it a lot.

Today we went to the bakery to get some Miffy bread. Miffy is a rabbit from the Netherlands which is very popular worldwide. The Miffy bread is good for children because of all extra additions. But most of all... it tastes good.....

Today it was a rather warm day here. So we took off for a trip. We went to Giethoorn. Giethoorn is a small village with lots of water, bridges and boats. They also call it Dutch Venice. Normally it's very touristic but now there is this winter silence. We enjoyed us very much. Here are some pictures.

Hello!

I finally have some time to show you my pictures.
When i arrived the others were a little bit scared. Two days ago an other TV arrived and scared the others a lot! Instead of jump out of the envelope he kicked his helmet out. The others weren't expected that so they frightened to death.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/lillebi001.jpg

When i came out the others were releived!
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/lillebi002.jpg
This are from the left to the right: Iggy-Korn, Meleleuca, Snowy and Palmeke

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/lillebi004.jpg
It's a very funny group!

After that i meet the pets except for Dharma the little puppy but that's because he is walking now with the mother of Eva.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/lillebi005.jpg
This fluffy cat is Isis. She is so sweet! But she sleeps all day long

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/lillebi006.jpg
This is Luna. She is a cat that is scared of everything, the poor thing. So she run away the whole time for me

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/lillebi007.jpg
This is Mammoet the rabbit. He is such a sweet guy! We talked for hours about almost everything.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/lillebi008.jpg
This is Merlijn the guinea pig. He make funny sounds the whole. If you hear that you are happy right away :)

And now the big news!
Iggy-Korn watched me the whole time. I think he likes me a lot. Suddenly he walked to me and kissed me.. I didn't expect this at all, but he's a good kisser.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/lillebi003.jpg

We talked for a long time and we have a lot in common. Who knows what gonna happen the next days. I keep you posted about this little romance

He is very cute as you can see, but he wants to play and bites you then. So you have to watch out because his teeth are very sharp.

I'm gonna sleep now because i'm very tired of all this new imprissions.

Hello!

Today we made a testdrive in a Renault megane scenic. That was pretty cool to do but Eva and her mom decided not to buy the car. So in the next few days we maybe gonna make a lot off testdrives in cars.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/fietsen001.jpg

After that i want to drive something myself so Eva decided to learn me how to ride on a bike.
It was scary! But i also love to do it! Fortunate for me the bike has wheels on the frame. So i kept well in balance.
Look at me mum!
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/fietsen004.jpg
You feel the wind and you can go fast if you want. I notice that in Holland they do not wear helmets for your safety. Everybody here rides on a bike and the people learn it to there children almost before they can walk. I looked my eyes out.

Hello!

Today we went to the ruinechurch in Bergen.
This picturesque ruin church in Bergen once was the biggest church in Noord-Holland. From the 16th century church there is only a ruin left now, because the Beggars started a fire here. Only the choir of the church was rebuilt, so from the original church you can now only see the ruins.
In the village Bergen in Noord-Holland there are many beautiful old houses situated around the old village church.

Hello!

Today we asked Eva to tell us everything she know about Alkmaar. She told us some funny stories!

Alkmaar is above all Holland's cheese town. During the season from the first Friday of April to the first Friday of September a traditional cheese market is being held here on Friday mornings between 10 and 12.30. The cheeses are sold by dealers on a clap of hands. Thereupon the 400 year old cheese porters' guild goes into action, carrying the cheese off on barrows after the lot has been weighed at the Waag (the official scales). In the Waaggebouw - in which the scales are housed - a cheese museum that tells everything about dairy farming has been established.
Cheese has been weighed in Alkmaar since 1635.

Alkmaar is historical with around 400 monuments. The Waag, dating back in its earliest form to the 14th century, the 16th century town-hall, Grote St. Laurens Church and the many courtyards, facades and canals give the town an ambience all of its own. With the past as a setting, the town has a modern stock of shops offering a wide choice. Besides the predominantly small shops in the old centre, the Noorder Arcade with large scale shopping facilities stands by the side of the Noord Holland Canal.

Alkmaar is the biggest town in the region. Relaxation can also be found in the Geestmerambacht recreational area close by.

Hello!

Also a new TV arrived today. When we got home from our walk we found a paper that said there was a package for Eva delivered by her neighbours. The package was very big so we all were wondering what could be in that big box.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/duinenendavy021.jpg

It was very strange to see a small beer walked out of the box.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/duinenendavy022.jpg

Why such a big box for such a small animal? But suddenly Bene shouted that the beer was attached to a string. There was one more in the box!

Hello!

Today we stayed home and discover a lot here.
First we enjoyed the sun and suddenly two dogs came to us. We didn't notice them before and they told us they wanna become a toyvoyager also. We drink tea with them and told us al about our adventures.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/boeken001.jpg

Eva made eggs and bread for us and it was very delicious!
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/boeken002.jpg

After that we wanna see what we can find in the house.
I found some dwarfs and they told me i can find a fantasy world here if i want.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/boeken005.jpg

I ask them were i can find it but the only thing they did was point to the book closet. First i had no clue what they meant with that but we all decided to take a look at the novels in the closet.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/boeken004.jpg

We found a lot off novels written by Stephen King. We talked about his stories about good and evil and suddenly we realised what the dwarfs tied to tell us. If you read a book you are in a fantasy world!
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/boeken003.jpg

This are books about Appie and his friends. As a child Eva her dad read this stories to her and they are very old. You can't find them in the stores anymore. The books look old and smell old so it was very excited to read them.

After that we found some treasure chests. In each of that chest we found fairytales and classic stories. This was so much fun to see!

Hello!

I start with the good news. Eva decided to do something for us yesterday evening. We had no clue what it was because she showed us a strange thing:
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/zwembad001.jpg

We go to bed and were thinking what i can be and when we got out of bed this morning we finally saw what is was:
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/zwembad002.jpg

It is a pool! Today they predict a very sunny and hot day so Eva thought it would be a great idea to give us something fresh and funny.

But the bad news is:
They were wrong! It's very cloudy :(
Hopefully the sun will show itself today so we can play in the pool.

Hello!

Today it's queensday here in the Netherlands. We are celebrating the dutch queen her birthday. Beatrix is the name of the dutch queen but it isn't her date of birth. 30th april is the birthday of her mother Juliana. But she never changed it in her one date of birth.
Most of the people wear orange clothes today because it's our national color. On the streets you eyes get hurt of all the orange. But of course i can't stay behind and wear an orange bandana today
:)

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/queensday017.jpg

This morning the queen visit Makkum and Franeker. Two cities in the north of the Netherlands. We watched in on the tv. Queen Beatrix and Maxima wear pink today. Every year they have the most funny hats on their head.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/queensday001.jpg
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/queensday006.jpg

Here Bea (Beatrix), Willem Alexander (Willempie) and Maxima are singing 'het Wilhelmus', the dutch song.

So today it's party time! I will update again today because this wasn't the only party we had today.

Big hugs Lillebi

Hello!

Here i am again.
Like i said queensday wasn't the only thing we celebrate today. It's also Bene his birthday! How great is that? You are in Holland and at your birthday the dutch people party.
First we sing for him:
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/queensday008.jpg

After that we gave him his presents we bought sneaky for him this week and off course wrapped up in orange paper:
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/queensday009.jpg

tadaaaaaaaaaa!!! Real Nijntjes. Nijntje is a rabbit from a novel for children. Bene was very glad with it!
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/queensday010.jpg

After that we decided to play games. First we played poker (texas hold em). It was very excited to play!

Hello!

Today we went to Den Helder to visit Eva her grandma.
Den Helder has ever started with the arising of Huisduinen, a whaler village. Gradually it developed into Den Helder which we know now. A city which was built within the linies of the forten. Later formed a number of districts there around. The space between the different town parts is characteristic. Den Helder is a city with a strongly maritime screen. Sea-going, the rescue being, the offshore and the royal Navy natural.

The Navy has stipulated many years' the image of Den Helder. But the Navy shrank in, Den Helder threatened to become a city with no face. By nourishing the culturehistory , the tales of the seaman and with that the coherent heroiek Den Helder has rediscovered its own core values.

Eva told me this while i was watching the ship-building yard.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/denhelder013.jpg

When you look at the end of the picture you can see some old ships that were used in the war. But they still use this ships for other wars and peace missions.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/denhelder014.jpg

Here you see the submarine in the shipyard.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Eryah/toyvoyagers/denhelder015.jpg
Here we are watching the Nordsea. It was such a bright day today that you even can see Texel!

After the shipyard we watched the flowerbulb fields. They are famous here in Holland. We were very lucky because in this time of year you can see all the bright colours of it.

That night we played on the wii for a long time but unfortunatelly the pictures failed. That's really a pitty!

Today we went to the Olbrich Botanical Gardens with Melissa and two of her friends.  She says the layout of the flowers changes all the time - she went in early May and it was all tulips, and now it's a lot of roses and stuff. :)

The first place we went to was the Thai Pavilion, Melissa's favorite part of the whole Botanical Garden.  It's a very beautiful pavilion sent to the park from Thailand.  It's decorated with gold leaf and very intricate details.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3140/2656097615_a9a002bf07.jpg
You can see some of the gold leaf detail in this photo.  It's on all of the pillars and the inside and outside of the roof.  Sooo pretty!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3136/2656112593_8bb49f2c78.jpg
Look!  As we were leaving, one of the Thai statues grabbed me!  Don't worry though, they were just saying 'hi'!  I didn't get hurt at all :)

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3143/2656117759_50c6476d62.jpg
On our way away from the pavilion, we spotted a lost toy!  The three of us wanted to adopt her as a new toyvoyager, but Melissa said there was probably a little girl at the gardens somewhere with her parents that was missing it.  So we left it there to be claimed.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3053/2646539280_0f7b3babcf.jpg
While everyone else was out in the sun, I was the smart one.  I found somewhere with shade! :D

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3271/2646543700_ed9ff79b03.jpg
Here we are resting in an area with waterfalls and rocks and lots of interesting landscaping.  We didn't get many good pictures in this area, unfortunately, because the birds were nesting there and they attacked everyone that got too close!  It was crazy!

Close up!

Miss you!  Next stop: the Capitol Building!

Hello from Hungary!!!
I'm already here for some days ago, but I arrived when my host was on holiday, so I had to wait a little to update my travelog.
I'm fine and today we had beautiful sunny day, so I decided to discover the house and the garden!

At first I got to know some pets: Karcsi the cat, two dogs called Ali and Barni, one of the pet rats, Pali and finally I visited the rabbits outside.
But as I heard, there are still some animals... I hope later I can meet with them too.

I enjoyed walking thru the garden, I saw a lot of flowers and finally when I got tired, I relaxed on the bridge of the little garden-lake. I was looking for some goldfishes...but they hid.

Tomorrow we'll travel to Budapest. Talk to you soon!;)

I spent a few days in Budapest, in the capital of Hungary.
We went for a little excursion and our first stop was the Heroes square.
I heard that it was built in 1896 to celebrate the millennium of the Hungarian conquest of the Carparthian Basin. And the square is flanked on either side by the Museum of Fine Arts and the Palace of Art.

Than we went to see the Vajdahunyad Castle. Its various parts illustrate the different styles of Hungarian architecture. Derived its name from the wing facing the lake, which is an imitation of the Castle of Vajdahunyad in Transylvania.
There is also a nice park with a lake. I enjoyed walking around it. Now, it was very calm, but Szandra told that in summer time it is more crowded, when there are a lot of tourists.

While we were walking to our next destination I found a little fountain. And on the opposite side of the street I realized the Széchenyi thermal bath. As this is the largest spa complexes in Europe, I wanted to go inside to swim a little... but it was too cold outside, so we rather wanted to hurry back home!!:)

Than I realized a nice butterfly hanging down from the chandelier and I played with her until I got totally tired and went to sleep. :)

Sziasztok!!! This means, "hi" in Hungarian!:)
I'm doing fine! I have got a good friend, Skippy, who is also a toyvoyager!
Here are some photos about our trip to the Buda Castle.
I read in Skippy's travelog that he wrote some details, so I also tell you the things we heard about that place.
This was the residence of Hungarian kings.
The fortification system and palace, built in the 13th century and being renewed from time to time symbolizes the country itself.
It's a pity that the Mathias Church was under
reconstruction, but broadly we saw it and I loved it a lot!
And the view from the castle was so beautiful! I just set down and enjoyed it!:)
More photos about our last few days are coming soon!

Now, we are again in Szandra's hometown, Miskolc.
And we have just arrived back from a short walk, we looked round a short way off.
There are a lot of weekend houses and there is also a forest by near. The landscape was so beautiful beause everything was parti-coloured: yellows, reds, purples... I loved it!:)

Posted Sep 30, 2008, 2:33 pm
And today we went to see also the city center.
While we were walking in the main street, we saw the Gallery and the National Theatre of Miskolc. This was the first stone-built theatre in Hungary.
And you can see photos also about the Erzsébet Square. I wanted to plunge my leg into the water, but it was too cold! :o

Our hotel was in the Cathedral Square, so we had nice view for the Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis.
I loved all these old bulidings and places!

Than we went to see the Glasgow Green. On the way there we saw a lot of nice things. And however it was a long walk, finally we found it and really....green!!!:D Beautiful! And we went inside of the People Palace. There is a botanical garden, we set down and enjoyed the feeling of that nice place!

On most of the photos you can see me with Peti, who became a very good friend of mine. And there was also with us Skippy Kangaroo, I enjoyed hanging around with him!:)

My favourites in Dublin were the Saint Stephen's Green Park and the Dublin Castle. But it was also a joy to get through the Ha'Penny Bridge!
